Ember:
They were going to sell me.
I couldn’t let that happen.
I had to escape.
My only friend agreed to help me.
She helped me get away.
She changed my appearance.
She sent me to see the President of the Blackwings Motorcycle Club.
I needed a new identity, so I could start a new life.
I walked up to the gate.
I was taken inside.
And everything changed.

Dash:
She appeared out of nowhere.
Standing at our fence.
Asking to see the President.
Scared, but determined.
And beautiful.
I wanted her from the moment I saw her.
When she told us her story, I vowed to protect her.
And then, she was going to be mine.

Dash is Book One of the Blackwings MC series. It is a full-length standalone novel. No cheating. No cliffhanger. HEA. Intended for audiences 18 and over due to explicit language, sexual content, and violence.

So, I liked this book very much, but I didn't love it. The main issue I have with this series is the age of the women. Ember in this first book is 18 in the beginning, Reese here is about 19 in the beginning and at the end of the second book about 20.
Why, oh why do they have to be so young...? Ember is now 19 years old, will marry Dash soon and is kind of the CEO at the farm where she grew up), managing the stables, breeding horses and growing and selling organics...... Really????? Very unrealistic. My kids are 17, they don't know how to start the dryer or how much a pack of sugar costs. That's reality!!!
From what I've read, Harper (the next girl) is also such a young baby, and her match will be in the 4' book, Carbon.
So, the men are all near 30, grown ass men, as Duke called them and the women are basically teenagers acting like 35.
Nevertheless, when you ignore the age it is a good read.

This is the first book in the Blackwings MC series by Teagan Brooks. This was a really good start to a series and I believe this author is new so I’m even more impressed. There were a few things that I thought were a little bit unbelievable but that’s why it’s called fiction. Also Ember was supposedly brought up in a strict environment where fear was used to keep people in line but once she got to the clubhouse she was miss mouthy. I like a strong heroine but she did get on my nerves a little. Ember was raised in an orphanage located on a dairy farm where everything is not as it seems. She was never allowed to associate with other kids in school but she managed to make friends with Reese. After she turns eighteen she overhears Octavius, the head of the orphanage talking and she gets the impression he plans to sell her so she starts plotting her escape. She enlists Reese to help her and when she does escape she knows she’ll need fake papers because she has no idea where her birth certificate is. Reese’s brother is a member of the Blackwings MC and she takes Ember there and tells her to ask for Phoenix to get the paperwork. Reed Lawson “Dash” is 27 years old, retired from the military and a member of the Blackwings MC. I don’t wanna say much more and give anything away because there are a lot of twists in this book that the reader should experience on their own. I will say I read a review where the person was criticizing Ember’s reaction to the bad guys but I don’t know what more they wanted she shot the fucker three times. I look forward to the rest of the guys in the MC getting books and I especially hope Phoenix gets a HEA.

I liked : the pace of the story, the fact that all loose ends seem to be tied, the badass heroine that can kick all of the bikers asses, the absence of ow drama

I disliked : the « virgin escaped from a cult » falling in love with an alpha biker and sleeping with him like everything is normal plot.

I was intrigued by the BFF,so I will probably read her story 😀

-> dropping from 3 to 1 ⭐️ , I had forgotten to read the last 10pages , and the Experienced H just had sex with the inexperienced h for the 2 nd time, and tells her « sorry, got carried away forgot the condom, but I am clean » -> that is one hell of a big NO for me, no condom, no ⭐️

Sigh... this one just didnt work for me. I read the Devil Springs series first and loved those boys. But Dash is not my favorite. Let's start with the fact that Ember literally just turned 18 and he's already pawing her and claiming her when he's 27 year old!!! Add to the fact that shes lived a very sheltered life and has no real life experience so she's like a 12 year old. Within 2 weeks they're madly in love and he's taking her virginity. Then he proceeds to tell her how their life will be, without her having any input, she goes along with it like a love struck, mindless 18 year old twit. Blah blah blah yadda yadda yadda... Alot of crazy drama takes place, shes worried about her dad and her friend but all Dash wants to do is have his stress relieved by boning her. She doesn't want to but gives in and enter unprotected sex! W T F?! Please please pleaaaassseee stop romanticizing unprotected sex and unplanned pregnancies!!!! It's not sweet, it's not cute and, frankly, an 18 year old has no business being a parent with someone they barely know. Cuz 2 weeks together doesnt mean shit! This was just a big miss for me. I dont like either main characters and they just annoyed me.

Ember ♥ Dash! Omg! It has been so long since I've read a motorcycle romance book that I actually enjoyed so much! I'm so happy that I started the Blackwings MC series! I can't wait to read the next book!

A hidden gem

Found this by chance and read it with kindle unlimited. As happens sometimes, loved it enough to buy it so I can read again and eventually own the whole series. Ember was an intriguing heroine, sweet, young, but fierce when cornered. The mystery of her identity was skillfully stretched throughout the story and while Ember and Dash connected quickly connected and I would day their story is complete, there is a tiny cliffhanger at the end. Where is Annabelle?

It's not you, it's me. Or maybe it's you.

It clearly has to be just me, because there are so many 4 and 5 star reviews on this book. I even double checked to make sure I had the right one. Maybe I didn't give it long enough. Maybe I'm not in the mood for a completely unrealistic storyline. I don't know what the reason is, but I just know I can not waste anymore of my day on this.

I'm not even going to rate this book, because I don't feel like I went far enough into to give it a true rating. But I'm just not in the mood for this ridiculous shit today.

Ember needed to leave the compound where she was raised after overhearing they were going to sell her to someone. Seeking help, Ember ends up getting the name of Phoenix who is the Blackwings MC President. When Ember arrives asking for help she finds herself thrown into a world that is completely opposite of her upbringing. She also finds herself under the careful watch of Dash. Ember is being protected by Dash but after secrets are revealed it puts her in an even more delicate situation.

There is so much to this story and boy did it have twists and turns. Definitely picking up more books in this series. I liked Ember, she is a survivor and the way the story unfolded had me riveted Dash is intense and he is biding his time with Ember but knows she will be his old lady if she gives him a chance.

Spoilers!!

I would rate this a 3-3.5. Both the Hero and heroine are likeable, however, the ending fell flat. Lots of unanswered questions with respect to club part of the book. Even with Hero and heroine we are told he will be proposing but don't actually get a proposal scene. I wish the romance side of the story would have been wrapped up especially since the next book is about a different couple but sadly it seemed liked a HFN ending.

This is one of my favorite tropes - older Hero (9 year difference) with inexperienced heroine. However, there is no clubwhores mentioned or history of Hero’s past, which I think some of my goodreads friends will appreciate.

Loved it

This is my first book by Teagan, and it won't be the last.
Bloody loved it, loved the connection between Dash and Ember. He was soft with her, know her life wasn't all that good growing up. I also loved that she found herself and became strong and independent.
Looking forward to more

Perfect

I had just read a really heavy heartbreaking book before this one and I needed something light enough but with enough drama to keep me hooked. Teagan Brooks is always a goto for me . No cheating and I love her alpha heroes. Dash and Ember were perfect together . So many secrets were revealed and so many questions were left open for the next story .

Refreshing

I love when I find a book on kindle unlimited by a new author to me and it turns out to be an amazing read. Loved everyone on this story and can’t wait to read everyone’s stories. Suspense and swooning. Can’t ask for anything better.

This COULD have been a brilliant MC read, but missed on a couple of levels, to make an MC believable in my book you need a bit more angst, a lot more bad ass bikers and a Lead male role you hate to love. Ember I loved, but what spoiled it for me was this very young very sheltered girl, was taught martial arts how to use a gun, while been kept in an Orphanage, err why the hell would she have needed anyone's help escaping she had everything she needed money and ways to protect herself, obviously the story was engineered to go the way it did, but this is were the book failed for me. The bikers were not believable except Phoenix whom I loved. He was the best part of the book. I wasn't keen on Dash at all, he took this so
called vulnerable young girl and without even asking her decided she was his, end of discussion, she had been kept under lock and key for years, not allowed to talk to anyone else. yet here she was giving it up to the first person who showed an interest. Dash was harsh with her when it came to the sex scenes, smacking her ass, she would have had no idea what all that mean't and for such a young girl who had, had a bad upbringing to just fall straight into bed with the first man she encountered just didn't ring true. It was in a word to SWEET for an MC, yes there were scenes in the book that were incredible, but it was like following a dot to dot you could almost follow the plot line. The ending seemed to come at you like a freight train. There was a lot of unanswered questions, Reese her friend for one, I didn't like her brother Carbon, I do hope the next book is a continuation of this story. I want to know what happens to Octavia, and his son.I want to know more about Ember and Phoenix .A good effort and I will read the next one in the series. Good try though.

DNF @ 39%

Hm the writing wasn't bad except for a few proofreading issues like "site" instead of "sight" etc. Ultimately I grew bored. This is unlike all the MC books I've read and that's not a good thing IMO. The plot has a suspense theme happening that could be interesting. Maybe. 🤷‍♀️ From what I read we had nothing like the club skanks, ol' ladies etc happening here. I barely remembered these people were bikers.

When it came down to it I didn't find the characters that interesting. The h Ember is a newly turned 18 yr old and for about the first 15% or so I thought it was a mature 18 atleast buuuttt as the story progressed I grew quickly annoyed by her and naive/child like reactions. Seemed every few scenes she "screeched" at someone 🙄 and sure alot could be excused by her upbringing which is why I stuck with it so long hoping it'd get better. It just didn't.

She was a conundrum. One minute she acted frail and scared of the world, the next she was acting more her age and like an average chick with her friend Reese. Then she's carrying guns, knives and can bring grown ass biker dudes down with her combat skills. Add her eager puppy reactions and hmmm yeah ok.🤦

As for Dash... Hm nope. Not one single thing stood out as interesting for him. Other than Ember being so beautiful I don't understand why he was following her around like a puppy and lusting after her.

Never learned his age either. Embers BFF Reese seemed cool but eh I'm over it.

No more "highly" recommended MC books for me. Always a bust it seems.

Boring as f*ck with no sex. I think I dnf'd at about 70%

Ember (18, virgin) was kept on some sort of cult form and was about to be sold off to some old man. She gets a friend from school to help her escape. She heads to the friend's brother's MC for new ID so she can run away. Dash (28-ish) takes a liking to her. They become a couple who don't actually have sex. She allegedly doesn't know anything about the "real world" because she was so sheltered, but she's trained in combat and can take down a grown man. We then discover her bio mom (who she thinks is dead) is actually the true love of the MC Prez, and she's also his daughter.

Anyway - some people are trying to kill everyone at the MC now. Had there been at least some sex, maybe that would have spiced it up a bit. It was just all weird and didn't make sense.

It's 2 stars because I didn't want to burn it in the end. I just didn't like it.

Wow, there was a lot going on... but I really liked it! In the beginning I was a lil bit shocked because they were very rough with the h. But when they learned that she wasn’t a threat to their club, their behavior changed immediately. There wasn’t that much “alone-time” for the h and H because there was so much going on outside their relationship... but it was still sweet an sexy when they were together:

“I ain’t ever been in love, but I imagine it feels like you can’t breathe without the other person. When you’re apart, you can’t wait to see them. Everything seems better when they’re around. When they hurt, you hurt. When they cry, you cry. When they smile, you smile. You would give your life to save theirs, but if you lost them, you would lose yourself, too.”

Safety: no cheating, no ow/om drama or scenes at all, no clubwhores, heroine virgin, Hero sexual past not mentioned,

*WARNING * contains explicit adult situations
Dash is one on the Top members of the Blackwings MC, so when he sees someone wondering around outside their compound, he can't just let her go.
Ember is a prisoner at the orphanage. Ember escaped with Reeses her, but she needs ID and Reese says her brother's friend, Phoenix at Blackwings can get it for her.
This is the first book I've read by this author and oh my goodness, it was amazing. The plot was so tangled, I never knew what kind of messed up surprise was going to hit hit this MC next. The characters are gruff, grouchy, brave, loyal, everything I've come to expect an MC to be. The author also gave me all the feels for what Ember went through fot 18 years, for the loss Phoenix had. We get get our happy ending, but are left with enough interesting questions, that I'm going to HAVE to read the next book of this series. RECOMMENDED

Finally a 4 star read!

I have been in a book funk recently! Yes I've read some ok books but the majority was wasted time I'll never get back! Finally I stumbled upon this book... The book heavens opened, the angels sang and the choir sang hallelujah!
Finally a book with suspense, romance, mystery and a story about a large group of people to eventually get their own books, increasing my happiness! This book had it all alpha males, strong female lead, good storyline with epilogue and somewhat of a conclusion. It is evident that these are going to be continued storylines with each member finding their own love mixed in with a good drama/suspense/thriller/sexy book all set in the MC world! Thank you Teagan Brooks for breaking my book slump, New book boyfriends!

I am pleasantly surprised! I needed something to read on KU and I wanted something different so i clicked. This was a really good start to an MC series. The plot was excellent and intriguing and the characters were fab! A couple things about the writing weren’t that great but overall it was really really good!
I loved this badass heroine, Ember! Her whole story was sad and sheltered. She didn’t even know what an orgasm was!
Dash, he was hot, sweet, and kind and he showed her what an orgasm was😂😂
I loved Phoenix and hope he gets a book! So many questions left unanswered! I suppose I’m gonna have to read the rest!

Okay obviously I know what this book is but I guess I wasn’t expecting the large amount of sexism in the book? I’ve read other mc/dark romance/ etc books before and the guys have been not so sexist? Like at one point Phoenix was like I don’t want my daughter to have a kid out of wedlock so you need to marry her. I was like other romance books don’t give two s***s about that. Idk. Stuff like that was all over this book and I haven’t encountered that in any other book so far. Idk if I’ll read the next one

Second time around is even better! I'm trying to do better about leaving reviews. Ember was a tough lil woman! Loved her. Dash was seriously alpha but he protects her with everything he has. Phoenix is probably my favorite! Now on to Duke!

Skipped pages, then stopped reading. Silly, not believable, even corny. If she was carrying/wearing a large and heavy backpack, how did she manage to move from tree-to-tree (at the tops of the trees) in a deep forest? That was just the start of silliness.
