Gordon James Ramsay is a British celebrity chef, restaurateur, television presenter, and writer. His restaurant group, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, was founded in 1997 and has been awarded 17 Michelin stars overall and currently holds eight. His signature restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London, has held three Michelin stars since 2001. After rising to fame on the British television miniseries Boiling Point in 1999, Ramsay became one of the best-known and most influential chefs in the world.
Ramsay's TV persona is defined by his fiery temper, aggressive behaviour, strict demeanour, and frequent use of profanity, while making blunt, critical, and controversial comments, including insults and sardonic wisecracks about contestants and their cooking abilities. He combines activities in the television, film, hospitality and food industries, and has promoted and hired various chefs who have apprenticed under his wing. He is known for presenting television programmes about competitive cookery and food, such as the British series Hell's Kitchen (2004), Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (2004–2009, 2014), and The F Word (2005–2010), with Kitchen Nightmares winning the 2005 British Academy Television Award for Best Feature, and the American versions of Hell's Kitchen (2005–present), Kitchen Nightmares (2007–present), MasterChef (2010–present), and MasterChef Junior (2013–present), as well as Hotel Hell (2012–2016), Gordon Behind Bars (2012), Gordon Ramsay's 24 Hours to Hell and Back (2018–2020), and Next Level Chef (2022–present).
Ramsay was appointed an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 New Year Honours list for services to the hospitality industry. He was named the top chef in the UK at the 2000 Catey Awards, and in July 2006 he won the Catey for Independent Restaurateur of the Year, becoming the third person to win three Catey Awards. Forbes listed his 2020 earnings at US $70 million and ranked him at No.19 on its list of the highest-earning celebrities.

I think this is very possibly the best all round cook book of the year! Full of contemporary soon to become classic recipes; easy to make at home, delicious and colourful meal choices. There is something here for everyone. I particularly likes the sections on breakfasts - Get Going and Brunch – suggestions such as Bircher Muesli, Avocado and Toast, Smoothies, Spicy Scrambled Eggs, French Toast, Ricotta Hotcakes…the list goes on. I find that most cook books do not give due consideration to the important meals, breakfast/brunch. If I am going out for a meal breakfast (if out early) or brunch can be a truly remarkable, fresh and enjoyable meal – I look for menus that serve something little different to just “Eggs All Day.” Breakfast out can be such a unique experience if one is open to new idea or fresh approaches. I like to transfer these type of fresh approaches to my home cooking. What meal out do you enjoy the most?

This book is more than just breakfast and brunch ideas. I also love the section “Food For Sharing”. Sharing a meal you have prepared or dishes to share is one of the most heartfelt ways to demonstrate your caring side, to engage your community (family, friends…whoever is special to you). In this section e have Flatbreads, Focaccia, Venison Scotch Eggs, Spiced Prawns, Broad bean, Spinach and Mint Dip And more.

The Big Weekend meal plans also get the thumbs up from me – again this new tradition is rapidly becoming a normal part of our contemporary lifestyle – meals to make when you have time to indulge in the slow cooking or when you have time to experiment with ingredients or recipes that are new to you, meals to share.

I could go on and on but I won’t. Get the book and start experimenting and sharing. It feels so good to share food you have prepared! This is a five star book that has easily earned a place in my cook book library.

Bread Street Kitchen is a collection of 100 fresh new recipes from Gordon Ramsay and the award-winning team at Bread Street Kitchen. The restaurant itself (and accompanying bar) are set in the heart of London, in the shadow of St Pauls. Their menu is based on fresh seasonal ingredients and relaxed all day dining, and there are now Bread Street Kitchen restaurants in Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong.

This cookbook features recipes for all occasions: breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekends, sharing, snacking and midweek suppers. Versatile recipes and beautiful imagery fill the pages and there are descriptive, introductory pages for each section. The recipes are new, fresh and simple to cook at home. Most of the recipes are for relaxed, sociable eating, with Crispy Duck Salad, Eggs Piperade and Steak Sandwich being just a few examples from the book.

I found this cookbook beautiful and really easy to use. I love that all recipes had photographs accompanied beside them, and that all of the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Personally, I think Gordon Ramsay has a tendency to include too many ingredients. For most of the recipes I cooked from this book, I ended up dropping off a few things from the list and the food still tasted fantastic. Since this book is promoting a relaxed, easygoing feel, I think the recipes should’ve included fewer ingredients. Some of the ingredients are also quite expensive, so one meal can be quite pricey. Perhaps too pricey for people who are just cooking for themselves or are on a budget.

Some of the other recipes in the book include Ricotta Hotcakes with Honeycomb butter, Seat Trout with Clarms, and Slow Roast Pork Belly with Apple and Cinnamon Sauce.

Bread Street Kitchen has cooking options for everyone, for every meal of the week. I particularly loved the midweek suppers section, with quite a few seafood, red meat and chicken options. The instructions are detailed and lengthy, which look daunting at first but become incredibly helpful when cooking. The photographs are artistic and beautiful and the book includes recipes for some everyday meals you wouldn’t expect in a Gordon Ramsay cookbook, for example Shepherd’s Pie and Brownies. I recommend this cookbook for readers who are looking for versatility and meals for every occasion, but also those of you who are looking for recipes that you can experiment with or will challenge you.

Excellent cookbook. The asparagus is worth the price of admission. Did I mention pudding? My goodness.
I love calamari, but I simply don’t cook any sort of squid at home. There’s a squid recipe I won’t use. But, mostly these are all recipes to use at home… Recipes to fall in love with.

Gordon acts all gruff on some American tv, but on international stuff, he’s clearly brilliant and kind. I just wish he’d stop calling a macaron a MACAROON.

Wonderful cookbook. One of my favorites by him, and one of my favorites in general.

Meticulous

Exactly what you would and want from Gordon Ramsay. Beautiful, sophisticated but easy to follow dishes. He certainly knows food.

How many cook books does the world need with recipes for muesli (seriously?) french toast, scrambled eggs, granola, avocado on toast, pizza etc? I want to be inspired by a cook book. I don't need to read the 25th version of making a steak sandwich or pea soup.

If this is you very first cookbook and you want recipes for the basic dishes then there are better ones especially for beginners. If you are a more experienced cook then you don't need this book.

Hahahahaha ada dekat rak bertahun dah tapi dok peram saja tak rasa nak try pun resepi dia. Semenjak dua menjak ni seronok dok mencuba resepi baru... ehhh makin menarik pulak resepi dia (the halal ones lahh obviously).

Ada variety juga. Ada minuman dan desserts juga (pretty sure aku beli dulu sebab ada resepi hot chocolate, chocolate tart dengan steak. And the tart recipe uses 70% chocs !!!!!🤩) Sangat sesuai dengan homecooks sebab these recipes guna teknik yang mudah ajerr.

Even to the lengths of making sure they are free range produce and happy animals. (Although its a bit of a complicated story in Malaysia atm kot. Idk.)

Feels like this book is trying to convert me into making my own mayonnaise and I'm not mad at all.

"Food reflect the way we live our lives..."

update May 2026: Moved to Did not finish as I don't think I have tried or read every single page from the book, some recipes does not interests me.
