WWII is over, but the fighting continues as Lithuanian resistance fighters wreak havoc on the Soviet army occupying their country. Ludmelia Kudirka and her band of men incite the Russians with their guerilla tactics, but their numbers are dwindling. Desperate for help, the Brothers of the Forest amass their resources for a critical mission that may be their last.
Colonel Karmachov, a Soviet military officer, is wary of the tiny yet deadly resistance. In an attempt to destroy them from the inside, the forces a young Lithuanian man, Anton Dubus, into the forest to join the rebels as a spy.
In Book Two of the Amber War Series, Ludmelia faces treachery as she bands with Polish partisans to get a man out through the Iron Curtain, to plea for help from the West.

A continuation of the Amber Wolf about freedom fighters in Lithuania. And the toll it takes on a young passionate woman Ludmelia and others that supported her and the "cause" The sacrifices of the partisans, trying to free themselves and their land from the crushing control of the Russians. A period, of time during and after WWII, that isn't well known. With an ending that is chilling and yet heart warming. I recommend this to those who are interested in stories that surround WWII and beyond.
