A Vampire's Gift

Rate this book

Eleanor Byrne:  I’m a three-hundred-year old vampire. I turned a dying man, but now, I have a hot-headed rock star who won’t follow the rules.

He’s pushing me to face fears that have haunted me for years. And the scariest one––is I think I’m falling for him. But can I forget my torrid past and open my heart to love?

Jayden Kye: I was dying. A vampire gave me the only gift she had. I’m a vampire and now my best friends want to kill us both.

To survive, I have to trust her. But she hides in the darkness. That’s not my style. She’s got secrets. One them is she’s a bad-ass and keeps saving my ass. I’m losing my heart to her, but she doesn’t trust easily. Will she ever give me a chance or will she keep pushing me away?

Vampires, demons and witches! I love to write about these dark entities and the darker the better. My characters are plunged into worlds where they experience torture and mayhem, but even in a world of darkness, true love survives. I write both, sci-fi, contemporary and historical paranormal stories.

"Nightmare" doesn't just describe the band...

The story is compelling, but the editing is excruciatingly poor. The misused words, grammar, and syntax issues were more than enough; adding these to the continuity fails makes this a nightmarish reading experience. Is Eleanor 100 or 300? Did Jacob or his father die first? Which band member plays with quarters? It's a pity, really, because this could have been a good book; the characters (and the readers!) deserved better.

A vampire story with a twist...she's a master vampire, he's a rock star but that doesn't spell trouble does it? Oh and two of his best friends want to kill his woman and his mother! Now that's a problem. Good storyline and great characters. I really liked this crazy story.

An intriguing, different type of vampire story. A master vampire and a rock star, that’s quite a catch. Well worth the read.

Another generation of Carvers have carried on the "family tradition" of hunting vampires. Eleanor may not live through this round!

Eleanor lay dying, her family slaughtered. And the reason, her father had protected a man!
Janus (from book 1) found Eleanor and asked if she wanted revenge for her family and herself......

Jayden is in a band, Jayden is lost, after his father died, his twin brother spiralled out of control and got into drugs, after too many fights his brother dies in an accident! It’s just now Jayden and his mother, he needs to be strong for her, but it’s just not working....

Eleanor turns Jayden into a vampire after he almost dies in an accident. But he’s not convinced, he needs to get back to his mother, she must be worried sick. But Eleanor can’t let him go home until he’s controlled his thirst for blood!

It’s then a battle of wills between the pair, he wants to continue with his human life, but Eleanor tries to warm him if the vampire hunters out there, he can’t live his normal life any longer.
As the pair become closer, Eleanor tries to let go of her past, but it’s not easy. She can’t forget what the men did to her! The degrading things they did to her! She likes Jayden, but can she let go and move on?
And what of the vampire hunters? They aren’t just going to give up hunting her....

This was totally different from the first book.
We have a female vampire fighting to survive, we watch as she tries to guide Jayden in his new life.
We watch the couple grow closer, we hope the hunters don’t find them, but when your best friend comes from a long line of vampire hunters, it’s going to be tricky. And when Eleanor finds out his best friend is from the line that killed her family and raped her, will she just walk away?

A Vampire’s Fallen Christmas Star is a sweet book despite the, in my opinion, lame title. No offense to the author, but I don’t care for the title at all. It doesn’t roll off the tongue, and the only Christmas reference in the whole book was that it was fast approaching and a reference to it at the end. At the same time, so the title isn’t up to me and it doesn’t take away from the book, so it’s not that big of a deal! Luckily, this book had plenty of other things going for it—romance, action, and the ever present angst associated with romance books.

The characters were interesting and relatable. Eleanor is a traumatized Irish vampire who spends most of her time hiding from humans for fear of being killed by a vampire hunter or further abused. The story starts with her rape, the death of her family, and her opportunity to become a vampire. She seems like a sweet enough person that has a very real fear of intimacy.

Jaden is a local rock star mourning the recent death of his twin brother Jakob. Eleanor happens upon Jaden after he has fallen off a cliff and is about to die, leaving his mother alone to mourn the death of her two sons and her husband, who had died at some other point. At first Jaden is resistant to Eleanor’s companionship while Eleanor tries to deny her own feelings toward Jaden. As they each struggle with their own inner demons they are forced to learn to either work together or suffer at the hands of Jaden’s vampire killing best friend and band mate.

I really did enjoy this book and while I am normally not into sweet romantic type books, this one must have caught me on a good day. I would recommend this book to anybody looking for a sweet and fairly easy to read book right before the holidays. There are action scenes throughout the book, not just at the end, which helps to keep the story moving along at a brisk pace. I will probably read other books by this author in the future if the opportunity presents itself.

Also this is the second book in the Vampires on Holiday series. I did NOT read the first book. At no point did I feel like I missed anything at all, so it can definitely be read as a standalone. I do think the way this book ended opened the series up for the 3rd book, and I am looking forward to seeing how that goes.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my review in any way shape or form.

When Eleanor crosses paths the first time with Jayden, he (unknowingly)saves her life. When they cross paths the second time, Eleanor saves Jayden. But Jayden gets more than he bargained for, and when his best friends turn against him, and Eleanor, he knows who he wants in his life.

Different in that SHE is the vampire, and not him. So that makes a change. The story itself, felt stilted and forced in places, and I cant think why. Some information doesnt come out, but suddenly Jayden knows all about this, or Eleanor knows all about that and it did not quite work for me.

I DID like the twist at the end, with Jayden's brother, and Michael has a story to tell, I think, now he is a little different. I did LOVE how, while two band members truned against Jayden, the other two stood by him.

I did enjoy this vampire love story, I did, it just did not seem to flow very well, and I felt it jumped along in the way inforamtion was released to the reader.

So 3 fangs.
