I was a bit disappointed by this book. The tagline is “become the CEO of your own business”, and describes itself as a “field guide”, but I didn’t really learn anything. It’s not a how-to; it’s more of an extended metaphor. It’s “these are the roles an online business owner needs to take on, but not how to do it”.
On a personal note, I wasn’t a fan of how the writing style played out. It read like a blog, which isn’t necessarily bad, but this didn’t flow. There were a lot of editing issues scattered throughout, like typos and run on sentences that just felt too unprofessional.

A super-quick read (I did it in about an hour), this is a great book for those starting out on their entrepreneurial journey and are willing to take a look at a guideline to help them get to where they want to be even faster and with a definitive plan. A great step-by-step guide to leading your own company, this is a good read for those just starting out.

Small but mighty book! I bought and read this book years ago- got a lot out of it for the stage I was in, in my business. I revisited it today and got new tidbits and golden nuggets out of it. It could be the only business book you need! Thank you Dana!

I got this book in a subscription box and figured it would be a quick read. It was and it was also basic as it gets.

Overall this book was a quick read that offered snapshots of inspiration. The flow of the book was good and the content was decent. It had some tools that can help people grow their business, however, it was completely opinion-based and written through the experience of what worked for the author when she was working her way up her own ladder.
I enjoyed the ladder analogy and the book was somewhat inspirational. The poor editing on this finished and printed novel was extremely distracting and took away from the readability and professional impact. For the book content itself, I would give it a 3.75 but the terrible editing pushes it down to a 2.75 for me. It pains me to be judgmental but a finished work should be free of typing and grammatical errors. Perhaps the author will re-publish in the future with edits that would make the content of this book more enjoyable and less distracting.
