The next heart-pounding instalment in Mason Sabre's Paranormal and Urban Fantasy, Society Series. The war is just beginning. Is Helena ready to earn her stripes?

Helena Carter isn’t like other Humans. She believes in rights for the Others—creatures of other races deemed vermin by all Humans.

The problem right now is she’s been captured for harbouring a criminal, Nick Mason, escaped convict and former heir to the Tiger Pack throne.

At first, Helena resigns herself to wait it out. They can’t keep her forever, but the Humans have a more sinister plan for her and her tiger. As the stakes rise for her and Nick, Helena must be stronger than she’s ever been, braver than she can imagine, and as fierce as any tigress in the war. It is time for Helena to get her own stripes.

Broken is a fast-paced Urban Fantasy and Paranormal novel with a touch of romance and a whole lot of claws. Love Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs? Then you will love this.

While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. It is a complete story and may contain spoilers for previous books in the series.

My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.

I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.

Words written with feeling...

This was one heart-pounding read! Helena’s point of view from Forgotten, was heartbreaking in some passages but so strong in others. It felt like.. with each emotion, each struggle, each agonizing painful hurt bestowed on her tore at me. But on the other side.. you felt her love for Nick (Stephen) the depth in which their souls are connected. Their loyalty and passion for one another. How they are each other’s world, they truly breathe for each other.. helping each other survive in a place where darkness tries to steal their lives. Reading this book I felt nothing is truly “broken” that with a strong will anything is possible. And what happened at the end... I see a force binding these two that nothing will break and no mercy shown to those who try.
One of my favorite quotes: “I feel alive, so incredibly alive, luminous, glowing.. all of me is. For that moment, as he stares down at me, the world evaporates, and there are only the two of us in the middle of the road.”
Perfect words...

The Other Side of the Mirror...

Broken details Helena's experiences as a captive in Norton's facility and the events following Stephen's (Nick's) carefully planned escape. Told in the first person, Sabre masterfully uses this POV to lure the reader into an exceptionally drawn world of Human villains, dead set on eradicating Others from existence through genetic engineering, deprivation, and torture.
Helena's account is exquisitely rendered to the page with a tight plotline, brilliantly created characters, and a vividly painted backdrop. As always, Sabre's genius radiates throughout the story, allowing the reader to lose oneself to the emotions Helena experiences as she evolves from one version of herself to the next.
*The novel does contain some content that may be disturbing to sensitive readers, however Sabre seems to take great care in blurring the darker elements of the story.

Holy Moly! This story had all the feels! Reading events played out through Helena’s point of view, was so gripping - it’s a real page turner of a story.

This insight into the events of the time Helena and Nick’s (Stephen) imprisonment, made me as a reader feel so connected to Helena. I felt her struggles, every horrific moment she had to endure under the enemy that is Norton and his minions. I felt her determination, her drive within her. And, god did I feel her desperation, when it just all got too much for her.

The Society Series is phenomenal. Each book adds different pieces to the jigsaw puzzle, the curious world that Mr Sabre has created. Excitement bubbles within me at what to expect next. The ‘Others’ are sure to still be in for one hell of a ride, and I’m signing myself up to experience this thrilling spectacle!

A story of strength and courage

Written in first person, BROKEN was a brilliant read. Mason Sabre will play upon your emotions from the "get go", anger, frustration, despair, hatred, hope and love. Just a few emotions to be experienced on this wonderful rollercoaster ride.

Broken gives the reader an insight into the period of time when Helena and Nick (Stephen) were held captive by Lee Norton, told from Helena's POV. It is a story that will keep you up until the early hours of the morning, the need to know more and keep the pages turning is too irresistible to deny.

With this book Mason truly allows Helena to show just how much strength she really has. Not only does she face a moment of utmost devastation, she also uses that moment to build her determination and her inner strength to fight for her and Nick's survival. Her relationship with Nick, her love for him and he for her, will touch your soul and warm your heart.

This is a story of survival, of strength, courage and belief. It is simply superb. Another Sabre masterpiece.

Broken is the latest installment in the Society series by Mason Sabre and I can tell you that with each new story he continues to captivate me more and more. He manages to bring you immediately into the story and it seems so effortless, at least to this reader. Each new story in this series has a way of entangling the reader in its web so that you feel all the energy and emotion that the story brings to life. You will feel the anger, desperation, and fear that each character feels. Every time I read a new Society novel I never want it to end and then I crave more of what this author gives us with his storyline and unforgettable characters. Please don't make us wait to long for more of these unforgettable shifters Mr. Sabre!

"I've got you," he whispers .... "I've always got you."

In this book we are guided through the Society world from Helena's point of view. From her time held in captivity we follow the trials she faces at the hands of her captors. Within these pages every single experience and emotion is brought to life for the reader to experience, packing the pages with both internal and external struggles and snatched moments of joy. The writer manages to wring every last drop of emotion out of the reader, to the point you are pacing along side the heroine willing her to stand strong and escape with her mate, to fight against adversity and live long enough to reach freedom.

An amazing read.

OMG!! Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!! I'm sitting here trying to put into words how I feel about this book and about this author's writing. He puts his readers through an emotional wringer for certain. I hate what happens, but from the pain our friends ( they are no longer simply characters) become stronger! I enjoyed witnessing Stephen's sense of humor. Helena's strength comes through. Yes, she has doubts, but who wouldn't? What I enjoy is that we are left with a feeling of hope! I think the lesson we learn is to NEVER give up, even when you think there is no way out! You never know what's about to happen!

Perfection!

Mason Sabre has outdone himself with his latest release. Broken had me reading late into the evenings making for some very tired work days but it was SO WORTH IT! I absolutely loved reading this story from Helena’s point of view and being able to understand how she spent her time being held captive. As always Mason’s stories will ensure the reader feels multiple emotions as you journey through the story. His characters feel as if they are longtime friends. You will shed tears, you will experience anger and you will feel pure joy. The ending was brilliant and proves how much a fierce woman Helena truly is. Be ready for a book hangover the size of Mount Vesuvius.
