The last place Theo wants to be is his best friend's New Year's Eve party watching his secret crush fall in love. Lucky for him, fate has other plans, in the form of a hot mechanic with a mouth made for sin. Now Theo has to choose: play it safe, or jump?
Danny Moretti's got nowhere better to be on New Year's Eve than hauling some trust-fund douche-bag's Lexus to the shop, and the second he claps eyes on this glittered-up rich-kid he knows he's in trouble. Theo's out of his league, but Danny's dark desires insist he get this boy on his knees. One night, no strings. At least, that was the plan, right?
Hot and steamy quick read. This is the first thing I have read from Ms. Moray and I really liked it. I liked both characters and loved the differences in both; a true example of opposites attract. I liked the happy for now ending, but wouldn't mind visiting these characters again in the future.
This was a great snack-sized steamy holiday read! I cannot get enough of RJ/Robin Moray's books!
"It was such a turn on to have him here, in this dingy fucking room, everything about him so clean and expensive and perfect. Danny wanted to mess him up, get him all dirty. Show him that no matter how clean and expensive he was, when it came down to it all he needed was Danny’s cock. He wanted Theo to beg for it, keen for it like he was dying, like he needed it."
I can tell this author can write well. Unfortunately, this was too short, and ended too “unresolved” for me to like it very much. And honestly, BDSM isn’t my thing.
Also, I’m incredibly picky about romance books, and sex with others, isn’t my cup of tea AT ALL. So, at the very end, when the author was mentioning another of her books, and she hinted that Danny was in one, and that he “helped” the couple, it soured the whole thing for me. I don’t read romance to read about the sex the MCs have had with other people. I don’t like it even being mentioned. It’s just my massive pet peeve.
So, this one fell short in the worse way. AND it put me off any other of her novels, because who’s to say she won’t throw in meaningless sex in her other books?
Good story, smoking hot, but I'm not sure how Theo and Danny would work in the long run. BUT I'm perfectly happy to read more of them if Ms. Moray would like to tell more of their story! (hint hint!)
2.5 stars because choices were made and none of them particularly good
So I adore his boy next door. I'm on season 2 and I'm loving every single thing about it. I don't know why, I just do and I've accepted this about myself. I'm still a good person. This was nothing I was hoping for.
It feels wrong to call it bad because it's not, it's just a choice. From the writing style, to the odd but not incorrect grammar usage, even the way Theo's character is written is a choice. He's not a terrible character but he's two-dimensional in the way that 3D is 3D when you wear those red and blue paper glasses. That sounds cruel but it's also a fair statement.
Guys smut wasn't even that good. Again it wasn't bad, just a choice. I genuinely think that if there hadn't been a pointless Kink warning at the beginning and a lot less back and forth pov change (but still being in third person which was a really weird choice) it could have been pretty good. Because at the end of the day this is a novella and to expect a lot from novellas is almost unfair. but I've read some pretty kickass novellas and I read great things from this author. If you like Kink go read his boy next door. If you like a rougher Kink read a collar for his brat. Don't read this. This was pointless and didn't need to happen. 2.5 stars because while it wasn't bad and Danny's hot, I didn't enjoy it at all.
This is a short story about two men who are looking for more but don't think they will find what they need. In this book we get more to Danny's story and we get Theo's story. Theo is hung up on a straight man who is in love with his woman. So when he get's invited to his best friends New Years Eve party he knows the man he really wants will be there with his girlfriend and doesn't want to go. Along the way his car dies and he is forced to call his best friend Dallas. Dallas offers him his mechanic and then that way he can still make the part. Danny has no desire to go out on New Years Eve but it is for on of his dad's VIP's at the shop. Little did he know taking this run would actually bring him closer to finally finding all he wants.
This is a great opening to a story for these two. I would like to have knows there would be more. It is a short story but it does pack a punch. I would recommend it but realize it is a short story with no real conclusion to their story.
This is my first time reading R.J. Moray but it will not be the last. Especially if there is more to come for Theo & Danny's story. This was such a quick, hot read I can't wait for more. There's nothing lacking in this short work; does a great job of developing the scene & characters in an interesting & satisfying way. An addictive way, too, making me want to read more because I loved it not because I thought it needs more fleshing out. This is just the kind of first, new read that I needed for my 2019 resolution to read & review more.
Enjoyable short story. Danny and Theo meet on New Years Eve as Danny picks up Theo's car and hauls it back to his family garage for repair. A mutual interest sets off a spark between them with potential for more.
For the page count, I was quickly invested in the characters, but wished it was longer as I would really like to see them work out as a couple.
Mostly just a PWP, but I felt like we got enough of the characters for me to care about them, and the ending was positive and HFN, which is realistic given they'd literally just met! Plus, I'm assuming this Danny is the same one who had a cameo in Moray's Boy Next Door Series, which was fun. :)
Very short story about Danny a character from another series with Jack and Channon. Danny helped his friend Jack out by going over to his place to visit Channon while Jack was in Japan. There Jack allowed Channon to pleasure Danny on Jack's behalf. Now he may have found his own man/boy, I hope Danny gets a full story.
My one complaint, this novella was too short, I want more of Theo and Danny's story.
Fingers crossed, cos they are hot together, well, assuming you like m/m kink.
If you are a fan of the author's His Boy Next Door series then you may recognise Danny from a cameo he had there keeping Channon company when Jack was away.
While a quick read, the story was enjoyable and the characters were well defined. I was left wanting more as their future together is unclear, as are the issues Theo is facing that may or may not allow him to ultimately accept Danny on a permanent basis. So, a HFN but by no means a clear HEA
The book is just too short. Things were just getting started between Theo and Danny when it ended. I would definitely love to read more about them. *Only after reading the author's note at the end did I realize that I had encountered Danny before very briefly in one of the Channon and Jack stories.*
Theo is a rich man who is in love with his straight friend but no one knows he's gay. Danny is a mechanic who picks up Theo and his broken down car. Danny sees something in Theo that no one sees.
This was short story of the beginning of a relationship. A bit of a dramatic start but a start all the same. It was a classic Moray work with the yin yang pairing of the couples and steamy scenes 😎
A hot and steamy short for New Year's. I liked how Danny saw right through Theo to the man underneath. He knew what Theo needed and gave it to him. I'm glad Theo wasn't a total stuck-up snob and was able to let go for Danny. I'd be interesting to see them long-term.
