I purposely went to the end of my books on my Kindle and chose to read the oldest one downloaded .... September 2020!

I can't believe it took me so long to get to this book. It was AMAZING.

Having been fascinated by helicopters and stories of medical flights for some time, I picked up this book to read. While I enjoyed the parts about the medical situations, the flights, and such, I found some of the other parts to be not to my liking. The guy and girl have an instant attraction to each other that isn’t based on character, but solely on the physical. He can’t stop thinking of her, she can’t stop thinking of him. They kiss, but then she insists that she isn’t interested in him. Ugh. The whole relationship has problems.
Another thing was the amount of time Jared, the director and a doctor for Lifeline Air Rescue spent not at his job. He was on duty and then just leaves for a few days. Shelly at least had a reason for being off work.
I did like Shelly’s relationship with her son. That was sweet.

The only Christian things in this book were a few prayers, mostly by a young boy.

In A Doctor's Promise I liked:

1. Tyler and how true his actions were to how children his age express themselves and their emotions.
2. I liked that Shelley was a strong single mother that put her child first and wanted what is best for him.
3. Dr. Jared O'Connor's interactions with Tyler were sweet as he realized keeping up with a active five year old little boy was exhausting and his appreciation on what a good job Shelly does as a working single mother.

I didn't like:

1. The back and forth of the relationship between Jared and Shelly and the mistrust between them.
2. The sudden turn around in the situation between Shelly and Jared and the roll of Mark and Jared's parents.

Shelley is hiding from her past and trying to raise her 5 year old son Ty. Jared is the new doctor at Lifeline Air Rescue and co worker of Nurse Shelley. Little do they know how their histories will collide.
This was a little predictable and a pretty quick romance with some great twists and turns. I liked the interaction with the children and it was interesting to learn about helicopter rescue teams.
Interesting, clean read.
*I purchased this ebook from Amazon. All opinions are my own.*

Sweet, clean romance

I enjoyed this romance and their happily ever after. It would be difficult to lose a child or have the fear of losing one looming. Glad for happy outcomes! And some kisses!

This was a short read that gets an emotional rise to the reader. When the boss of Lifeline discovers that this beautiful doctor that nw

When the boss of Lifeline discovers that Shelly is actually Leigh who is mother to his dead brother's son it gets quite complicated. His mother had offered her a fortune if she would give up her unborn baby and now, six years later she feels caught by these parents from whom she had fled. It was great to read a book with all clean language.

Enjoyable, but somewhat flawed

I enjoyed the storyline and characters in this clean romance. But I felt like the story wrapped up too easily and neatly. The build up of the problems that they were each facing was significant. And then it just disappeared as if it was no big deal. So for that reason, I took off one star. But I did enjoy the characters and the romance.

A story that quickly drew me in & held my attention. The lifeline setting of the story is unique & knowledgeable.
There is a single mother who has run from a rich family who are willing to pay any price for their grandson. She gives him love & a good life. His uncle stumbled across their path without realizing that he has found them.
Each person has to deal with their own guilt before realizing that everyone is responsible for their own choices & actions.

I can hardly wait for the rest of this series to be published!

Good clean romance, they fell in love a little too quickly for my taste (I felt like it was more based on looks than. personality) but it was still an enjoyable read, I was eager to pick it back up again. Being a nurse I really enjoyed the medical aspect but it was definitely at a level than someone with no medical background could enjoy. I would be willing to read her other books in future. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed

I regret having to pan a story that other readers enjoyed, and will affirm this writer's solid knowledge of the medical field. That part, as well as the helicopter rescue flights, all rings true. But the love story formula is one of those irritating packages where the story is told from both the guy's and the girl's POV, and where they are instantly infatuated with each other by the end of the fifth page of the book. It's all breathless gasps and oh his muscles and the tenderness of her touch on his forearm and why can't I stop thinking about her and should I kiss him oh dear oh dear. On top of which, the female lead's emotions lurch back and forth violently between tenderness and a prickly please-go-away resentment. They get engaged on the last page of the book, but if you added even ten more pages, it's an even bet some little misunderstand would drive them to their corners yet again. It's too bad, but I really suspect Laura Scott is a much better writer than this. The scenes between the mom and her ailing son are affectionate and winsome. But there's almost no nuance at all to the love story.

Shelley and Jared

Life can turn upside down in a second and human nature can frequently let innocent people down, but characters written with strong character and clear priorities usually become survivors. So when Jared Kelley promises to find his dead brother's fiance and child, something that none of the detectives they've hired over the years have been able to do, he moves to the last place they think the fiance ran to hide.
Shelley has been working as a air ambulance nurse for several years. Ty, her 5 year old, is the focus of her life. She finished her last year of nursing school to be able to provide adequately for the two of them, and life has become pretty smooth.
A great story, well told, with a wealth of kindness and caring thrown into the situations that comprise the plot. Great read!

One of the most interesting read in awhile

This is one of the most interesting reads that I have had in awhile, and that says a lot since I read 3 to 5 books in a weeks time. I started it on a Saturday night and read until I couldn't hold my eyes open, Then when I awoke on Sunday morning, I had to finish it before I could get ready for church. This story about Jared and Shelly on the rescue helicopter was different to any that I have read. This gave me a new insight into a situation like this. The faith of the characters shines through and I even recommended it to one of the other authors that I communicate with. I was lucky enough to get and ARC copy of it, but it is well worth the price. Check it out.

Ok, but too short

Interesting story, but this couple knew each other...what, two weeks? And then, not agreed to start dating, but to get married? Really? Yeah, there's a ton of intense situations, but that's not the same as the long slog of life.

And side characters? Barely even existed. Wished they had been developed some, like a best friend to bounce ideas off of, the reason for the grandparents' single-minded focus on getting access to the boy (hello, totally should have had a story there), even just more than "this person appears to do this" for one of the two main characters, but the two mains were well-enough fleshed out.

Beyond that, enjoyed reading a premise of a medical rom/drama in the air. Good editing, decent writing, just wished it was longer.

What a wonderful story. I was glued to my e-reader long into the night. Jared and Shelly are two wonderful characters that you will cheer for. The plot was wonderfully written and flowed just so smoothly that before you know it, the story is over. I was so fascinated with the life flight portion as well. It felt like I was right there with the characters like I was front row watching a movie.

This book was written in my favorite dual POV format. Getting to know the characters this way, really made me cheer for these two wonderful characters. I can't wait to read more of this series.

Shelly has been on her own for the last six years rising his son Ty alone. She has been a nurse flight in Lifeline Air Rescue for the past three years and she loves her job. Jared has just landed a new job as director of Lifeline Air Rescue, but what really brings him to Milwaukee is to find his dead brother’s fiancé and son. When Shelly and Jared meettemeet they feel an instant connection. It will the past get between them and bring them together? A receive so a free copy of this book. This is my honest review.

This is the story of Shelly and Jared and first in a series. It’s also a good story and the characters are both reasonably mature. I kept waiting to see what would happen when the truth came out and was pleasantly surprised with the reactions. Again, two mature adults handle the situation in a reasonable fashion. I felt a lot of empathy for them both and there was a good amount of depth to each of them. There is sexual tension between them but no sex if that is important to you.
I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Thoroughly enjoyable

THis is a reasonably quick read, but it is so good, as it covers quite a lot of topics on its way to romance. There is a good plot that we only get to see fully at the end. Although I read it in a few hours it has good character development and it was easy to see everything in my imagination as I read. It is exciting, romantic, hopeful, and so much more. Treat yourself

Great story about second chances. She’s a single mom, hopping her son has a second chance, not having kidney disease. He’s the new flight dr and he’s instantly attracted to her, not realizing her son is his nephew. He’s been looking for her for 4 years. Will he get a chance at love and a family with her

A Doctor's Promise

This is the first book in this series. And a new author for me. This story revolves around a woman who had a child in her own. The father died six years before. His brother has been searching for her. Now they are working together. But she has a new name. What happens when he finds out that she is the one he has falling for? What about her?

The best kind of medical drama

I don't know why but I loved this heartwarming story, I think it was the way the characters pulled me into the story and add in the setting of a medical helicopter It really added that bit of drama.

Loved this book, think I'll be reading the next one in the series.

A heartwarming tale of a mother who will do anything to protect her child.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was very believable and kept me wanting to scream whenever I had to put it down to do something else. I was totally happy when I finally got the time to just sit down and be able to read without interruptions until I finished. Great ending!

Loved it!

4.5 out of 5 stars!
I am a nurse and love seeing accurate medical scenarios in books, so this one really drew me in! It was wonderful! The one thing I didn't like was that it seemed that their relationship moved super fast at the end, not as realistic as I would have liked to have seen.
I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves clean contemporary love stories.

An Excellent Clean Romance!

I enjoyed Shelley & her son Ty very much, & Jared too. My husband & I fell in love at first sight so I can relate to Jared on that score. I loved Shelley's strength & determination as a pediactric flight nurse & as a mom. This book, clean romance with no pornography is a terrific one! I look forward to reading more in this series.

Sweet story

So lovely!
I enjoy very much read this story.
Is a simple story about second chances in live.

The characters have their issues, but they can manage to overcome and go on with their lives.

The end is somehow a little rushed, could it be a little longer...and with an epilogue ☺️😉

A good storyline with an abrupt ending

The story itself was good. The main characters were relatable. My only objection was the ending. I feel that the short timeframe presented made the ending too abrupt. Obviously the main characters were attracted to each other, but love, uh, probably a little too soon to know for sure.

Wouldn't change a thing.

Not sure how the life flight personell can do their job without following up on their patients, but the details of their jobs were certainly interesting. Shelley and Jared's story was well thought out and overcoming guilt a journey. Drawn in from beginning to end.

Good clean story.

Shelley Bennett fled to protect her unborn son, who's father had died in a car crash the same day she learned she was pregnant. Six years later she was a single mom, a flight nurse and everything was fine. Then a very good looking and kind Dr Jared O'Connor became her boss. What an oddity that he had the same last name as her son's father.

A lovely book about 2 people who, unbeknownst to them both, have a history which will link them for the rest of their lives!

An easy and quick to read book about love and forgiveness, dealing with mistakes in the past and wondering if they can be left in the past?

I enjoyed reading it, it kept my attention and I'll be on the lookout for the rest of the series.
