Dear Diary a murder mystery is an intriguing story that begins with a young girl making daily entries into her diary and describes the angst she suffers whenever her secret words are exposed. A diary is a very personal journal, a magical book in which the most secretive and personal thoughts of its author are compiled, and a vessel in which fulfillment may blossom if nurtured, undisturbed by others. But when these wishes and dreams have been revealed, the ramifications can sometimes cause unexpected personality conflict.
Dear Diary a murder mystery further explains how multiple personalities can surface and take control without a person’s knowledge of what is happening to cause their change in demeanor. And how the human mind interprets inner voices and what actions are performed based upon those silent commands. The inner turmoil that arises when hidden personas struggle for control is enough to drive a person crazy and when the inner voices begin to take on personas of their own, insanity becomes a sanctuary for the host personality.
Galena is a small picturesque community in northwestern Illinois, flanked on its western boundary by the Mississippi River, and to its east lie numerous hills - some big enough to support skiers in the winter months - and a place during all seasons where those in search for treasures of times gone by come to shop the numerous antique stores located on its many winding and hillside streets.
Many people visit here and some decide to stay. Danielle Webster, a nationally acclaimed author, has made her home here on one of the surrounding hillsides, and writes in seclusion, undisturbed by the outside world. She pens stories of homicide based upon actual events in which police have been unable to identify the murderers. She adds her own twists to each case, providing clues that were never released to the public in the original cases, which identify the killers and brings each crime to conclusion. Her books have become best-sellers and afford her with fortune and fame. But she loves her quiet life in this remote little village and hopes to keep it that way.
John Tillman, retired St. Louis police officer, and his wife Carol, came to live in the small village of Galena and survive a meager existence on his policeman’s retirement fund. John has no interest in things that Carol thrives upon and only wishes to be left alone, to live out his life in comfort and to watch football on TV and to have an occasional cigarette or two.
But when Carol’s love for murder-mysteries and her desire to investigate a local crime scene - that she explains parallels a book written by her favorite author - he begins to wonder if she hasn’t happened upon something important and questions his own motives for solitude.
They utilize the help of John’s former partner - still employed by the St. Louis police department - who provides them with information of recent unsolved murders that have the same M.O. as the one in their locality. They travel to those sites to try and unravel the mysteries behind them, but when the trail brings them back to Galena, what John and Carol discover surprises them as well as those they have pursued.

I must say this book was all over the place. I won't be reading it again. The plot line was very boring and I couldn't even finish reading it. I couldn't keep up with the characters either. I don't often give a book 3 stars or less, but When I'm nearly halfway through the book, and I'm extremely bored, I simply can't finish reading the book. I simply skipped to the very end and marked it as read. I can't stand it when books start out very interesting and then get suddenly very boring and stagnant. At the beginning of the book, we are reading about two little kids and suddenly it jumps into portraying several other adults, and then we don't even know where the kids are. Maybe the kids come up later. But there is no fluidity. In this crappy book whatsoever. The reason I gave it three stars is because the story could be interesting if it was planned better. I've honestly read other books that are very suspenseful and unpredictable, but are way better! I'm definitely not recommending this book. I also never delete books off my kindle device, but this is one that I'm getting rid of.
