The Hero:Trevor Burbank - he is a wolf shifter and works on an all shifter police force. Though most humans don’t know shifters exist or the dark dangers that surround them. He and his shifter clan are dying out because there are no more female shifters and when male shifters mate with humans the resulting offspring are not strong like full blooded shifters and they are unpredictable.
The heroine:Gabriela Carmi (a.k.a. Ella) - her aunt recently died, her mother before that. She had been taking care of her mom, then her aunt for the last ten years. Ella needed to come up with $14,000 in order to save the home and her sister was threatening her because she suspected Ella of killing them for their money. Ella thought she was going crazy, she kept forgetting things and seeing things that weren’t there.
The Story: The Shiften were fighting their nemesis, the demon Khain who was responsible for so many terrible things that happen in the world, which humans wrote off as accidents or terrorism. Khain would commit his crimes and somehow escape into another world with no trace. Khain is the one that killed all the female shifters. Trevor swore that they would one day get their vengeance even if he did feel like a fraud.
The backstory in this book was a bit complicated and confusing, especially at the beginning of the book. There was a prophecy about the ‘One True Mate’ being half angels, and though it was easy to conclude that Elle was one of them due to the odd things that happened to and around her. The whole thing about Cain and what he was doing and trying to do was hard to get a handle on.
This book is told in dual points of view via Solo Narration and was narrated by Michael Pauley. I like his voice, it is deep and resonant though he did read a bit monotone at times. Still he was able to do multiple voices for different characters and I did enjoy the narration and once I understood the world, the story was pretty darn good!

The Hero:Graeme - a 936 year old dragon shifter who moved to Serenity from Scotland to help fight the demon Khain and he didn’t care if he died doing it, he actually embraced the fact that he might die. He works with the wolf shifters on the Serenity police force and is in a coma in the hospital after injuries he sustained in Shifters Sacrifice. Graeme is the last dragon.
The heroine:Heather - she has just gotten some bad news from her doctor and it changed everything about her life and how she saw her future. She is an artist who focused on glass blowing and has been working on creating a glass dragon. She has her own animal rescue at her home, which focused on reptiles, though her real job is working for her family’s mortuary in the crematorium.
The Story: Heather gets a call from a doctor at the hospital saying he has a reptile that is in a coma and is experiencing strange symptoms and he doesn’t quite know what to do. Heather says she can help but must see the lizard. When she goes to see the Doctor, she finds a beautiful beast of a man in a coma who makes her feel things she has never felt before.
This book was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Michael Pauley who has a nice soft masculine voice, though he is a bit monotone at times, he does a good job. I only wish he didn’t do Graeme with a Scottish accent, it was a bit distracting, though more authentic to the character. I liked this story better than the first. Heather has a good back story and is an interesting character. I wish this was dual narration.
Shifter’s Echo

The Hero:Crew - works for the Serenity police department, an all wolf shifter department that protects humans against the demon Khain. There was nothing Crew wanted more than his one true mate, but Khain had promised that when Crew found her and fell in love, he would take her from Crew and kill her. Crew knew this was his fate as he was a gifted seer who had connected his mind to Khain’s when he was just thirteen years old.
The heroine:Dahlia - she first appeared in Dragon’s Heat when she helped free the cats from the spiders, since she works for the ASPCA. Dahlia dreamed of her own death over and over. She dreamed of herself in a whole different world each night when she went to sleep, and thought she was going crazy at times. Yet she somehow knew that she would die in the real world very soon. She knew that this winter would be her last.
The Story: Since Crew first sent his consciousness into Khain’s he has been a tortured soul. Khain killed Crew’s father and had proven to Crew that Khain had left a bit of himself inside of Crew and could use that to his advantage. Crew was determined to get that bit of Khain out of his head though every time he tried he was hit with intense pain.
This was a very different type of story than any I have read before. Both Crew and Dahlia went to another world when they slept, one where the town of Serenity was called Tranquility and Khain didn’t exist, neither did Ren who in the real world was the god that created the shiften. Crew and Dahlia first meet at a rut in their dreamworlds.
Like the previous two books this one was narrated in Solo narration by Michael Pauley. He seems to be getting better as the series goes on. He is doing better at multiple voices and isn’t as monotone as he was in the first few books. He is showing more emotion in his voice. I liked this story and the multiverse they travelled through. It was very interesting.
Shifter’s Innocent
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙🤎🖤💜 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎 Character development: 😠😘🤓😍 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Solo Narration
The heroine:Cerise - she practically raised her sister Casey, and she was determined to save her and her sister from their “father” Miles, who has been looking at Casey too intently lately and Cerise was never going to let him get to her. Cerise was systematically stealing from their neighbors in order to gather enough money to make their escape from the abuse they suffered. When they were out early one morning as Miles slept off a night of drinking, they found a house with a tunnel to another house and Cerise felt she had to check it out and the man sleeping inside.
The Hero:Beckett - wolf shifter and best friend to Crew from Shifter’s Echo, he also was a member of the Serenity police department. Beckett suffered from nightmares of his brothers death for years and one night while having a nightmare, he is calmed by the girl who snuck into his home. After waking up to see her, she told him to go back to sleep and he did, forgetting he ever saw her.
The Story: Like in the prior books, Cerise is a one true mate, which is a half human, half angel who is capable of mating a shifter and producing young. Each of the one true mates have a different power and has a talisman, a necklace given to them by their “father”. Though Cerise and Casey have been held captive by Miles for years, they had rarely left the farmhouse where they live and are exceptionally naïve when it comes to men. Cerise only knows not to trust them.
The story was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Michael Pauley like the first three books in the series. He has gotten better with each books and I am really enjoying his narration by this point. The stories have also gotten increasingly more interesting as the series goes on. The supporting characters are all terrific and the couples from each previous book has made reappearances in each book as the series goes along.
I liked both characters in this book as well as their back stories. I also can’t wait for some of the books of other characters, especially Trent and Troy, the Burbank twins who have been stuck in wolf form since birth, but who can think and communicate via their minds like the men they are inside. Mac is also a great character and his story should be great. He gives some good comic relief. This book also has a new villain, a Shiften named Grey who was strong and was working for Khain and against the rest of the Shiften.
Why all the mess? Devil creature.....different worlds....sleep worlds....other dimensions. ......ghosts. Stopped at 58%. It gave me a headache. What happened to shifters love stories with normal problems?
I was looking for a light, fun vacation read. This is about werewolves/shape shifters. I was thinking it would be like "Grim" the tv show. The main character is Ella with an obvious Cinderella tie-in. WARNING: explicit sex. That was the part I was not expecting. This book is tagged Romance - I was thinking young adult PGish. Nope, it's much more.
The author has good writing skills and makes the story fun. She has that Edgar Rice Burroughs ability to leave a chapter as a cliffhanger and make you want to read on. Her books in the series are also very Burroughs like in that there is a cliffhanger, then the next book picks up the same fantasy world but with an emphasis on a different character in that world.
Honestly, I suppose people buy it for the explicit sex. I always think that detracts from a book rather than adds to it. I will read them because I like the story line. I will continue to skim and skip certain sections.
This thriving community had almost everything. A police station, fire department and residents, but it has couple differences, few females and it’s a community of shifters. This 4 bundle set takes the listener into the lives of these lonely males and their goal of finding the mates they know are just out of reach. Michael Pauley does an excellent job of showing the emotions of these men, the struggle, the love, the resistance and the ultimate acceptance of each. Along the way there is some drama, intrigue and the sex scenes we are talking about shifters, they are a randy bunch as I’m sure your aware of.
I have very much enjoyed this series so far. I like that each book is about specific characters but each is also a part of an over arching story line. I love the whit and humor each of the characters have. I look forward to reading the rest of the books and seeing how it all comes together. I have certain characters that I am rooting for and hope they too find their OTM!
I thought books 1-3 were worthy of 4 stars. It's hard to come across new concepts for shifter books and I appreciate that this author took a different approach. However, I absolutely hated that she renamed shifters to "shiften". And then proceeded to make up stupid names for every single type of shifter "wolven, bearen, felen, foxen". It was completely unnecessary and then I felt she made it worse by continually jamming those titles down her readers' throat any chance she got. Also the synopsis that the readers got in the first chapter or 2 of every book was just stupid. You literally made your readers buy books 1-4 as a set, why would you waste your own time and theirs summarizing what just happened in the previous book?!
Now let's talk book 4... absolute train wreck! I could not stand the plot line or the lead female character. Huge plot holes everywhere! Never fully explained Becketts past, his family, or what happened with Grey. It was a quick synopsis like it didn't matter, even though the author makes it seem like its a huge part of this prophecy that is driving the entire storyline. Never explains where Cerice came from, who her mom was, where she was taken from... nothing. Just a giant, "hey reader use your imagination and fill in the gap". Lazy, that's what it is, just lazy on the authors part. I have serious concerns for books 5-8 if that is where the author is going to leave me. I am genuinely curious how it ends, but WOW did she royally screw up with book 4!
You get everything in this set of books. A kind of curse as all their wolf females die on one day leaving an entire male generation without females. Facing the lost or not facing it leaves most of the boys growing up on their own as the fathers mostly fail to deal. Thirty years have pasted and the human one true mates are now turning twenty five years old and coming into their powers given to them by their angel father who had taken pity on the male wolves and fathered all the one true mates as they are all half sisters but none know about the others. But it is said they must be found by their mates and claimed before they turn thirty are they will become dangerous being unable to control their powers. The males are really kind of shocked when the first ones start being found as most weren't sure if they really believed there would ever be more mates for them. You have gods and demons playing with human and wolf lives. There is the search for one true mates who as they are found the wolf, bear, and dragon mates think they should not be allowed near anything that might have danger, never mind that like them they had all been born to fight in the big battle against the demon so in her own way each must clue in their males that they can handle their selves. Each story just kept getting better because Lisa has a wonderful talent of holding more than one story and combining multiple stories together. I am going on to the next four books because I want more of this story. You will laugh and cry with these wonderful characters. If there was a higher rating I would give it to this set.
It's been a few years since I've read a shifter book, but this book or set of books was so much more than just a shifter book. It had everything from angels to wolves to bears foxen and bad people. When I first started reading Trevor and Ella's story and wasn't sure I liked it but I gave it a few and continued reading on , the book took on a life of its own. It's like you were there watching everything unfold through the whole story. This Story is about the first four finding their one true mates. It's funny I actually fell in love with the stories and the characters it's a must-read I can't wait to order five through eight books. So if you don't have anything to read or you want to read ONE TRUE MATES IS EVERYTHING YOU WOULD WANT IN A BOOK AND GO READ IT IT'S WONDERFUL
I don't know how I didn't find out about this series till now. I love all things shifter and this series hit all the marks for me for one of the great ones I've read . I devoured these books in one sitting. I loved the whole team of guys I had some reservations about Mac but in Crew's book I changed my mind about him. This series is tv worthy . I loved how the author was able to transport us to that world with her words I felt like I was there living through it and seeing it through their eyes. My favorite charachters are Troy and Trent those two are so awesome . I finished the whole series in 1 week read all till the last book released which was Trent's book and I love them all.
For those readers who find themselves drawn to tales that quicken the pulse and set the heart aflutter, this book promises to be an unforgettable odyssey. It masterfully weaves together the exhilaration of adventure, the intrigue of mystery, and the delicate dance of slow-burning romance, creating a tapestry of emotions that will both captivate your imagination and leave you breathless. Prepare to be swept away on a tide of feelings as you lose yourself in a world where danger and desire intertwine, and the line between love and loss becomes blurred. This is a story that will linger in your thoughts long after the final page is turned, a testament to the enduring power of love and the resilience of the human spirit.
This author violated the first rule of being an author... Write about what you know & understand. If you don't know, learn the facts before you spew ignorant nonsense.
Hint: Prison & jail are NOT interchangeable.
You can be detained in a jail. You can even serve some sentences in a jail.
A jail is NOT a prison. If you are in a jail, you being detained. Being detained is not a prison sentence.
In order to serve a prison sentence, you must be tried, found guilty & sentenced to prison.
Escaping from a jail is not escaping from prison.
I don't recommend this author. She's too arrogant to get her facts right.
I’d hate to read these one book at a time, you need to read in order, and there’s a lot of common history throughout, so reading 4 in one go is easy and helps you make sense of it all. This has a twist to most shifter pnr stories, with multiverses, something resembling the Devil, and a female God-like being with a complicated backstory, more like a shifter religion, but it kinda defies description, so just read it. There’s a little bit of everything in them, and the stories are a lot of fun, despite the high body count!
There was a lot of magic and mayhem in this story. I didn't care for the FMC. She was a vapid character. She had a TSTL moment endangering herself, the MMC, and several other characters. There were so many characters in this story that it was hard to keep track of them in my head. A photo album of the characters would have been helpful. The spiritual lexicon of the shifters in this series is vastly different from other shifter stories with lots of unique details.
Lisa Ladew crafts an intense, gripping, and suspenseful story. There’s intrigue, emotion, and passionate romance in each book. As you effortlessly get drawn into each story, you quickly become invested in the characters’ lives. With each book’s well-developed plot and its characters so smoothly integrated throughout the series, you will become effortlessly captivated, making each of these stories hard to put down. I guarantee you will find her tales truly rewarding from beginning to end! I highly recommend every one of these books and the entire series!
I read books 1-4 and enjoyed each story in this interconnected world. I loved each story, but a DRAGEN? Come on! That's my favorite one so far, but each one was great in its own way. All of the characters are people I wish I knew IRL. They're a fun and loyal group. I love the premise of The One True Mate. The variety of shifters has been interesting and there's enough intrigue to keep the most mysterious mystery reader entertained. I recommend these books if you like shifters.
I didn't know what to expect when I started this bundled Wasn't sure if I could get into this genre But I was surprised and I really loved each story and found myself turning the pages quickly I thoroughly enjoyed each story and myself anxious to read the next one The action, love, family, excitement and romance was fantastic I am looking forward to reading books 5-8 next in the series I'm hooked now...
The world in these stories is great and the storytelling is excellent. The characters are mostly okay. These are the slowest of slow burn though, and the characters consistently lie, get in their own way, and generally frustrate me to tears. Book 3 annoyed me so bad I almost gave up. I am probably going to look for something else to read. Few typos, mild spice, shifter fated mate romance.
I had found the second bundle of this series and tried to make some sense of the story when the opportunity of getting this bundle popped up. I encourage everyone to start at the beginning. The stories can be read as standalones but can be confusing as there is lot of cross over. I now own all 10 books in this series. If you love shiften you'll love this group
These books are a GREAT read! I LOVE the story, the continuity, the characters. There ARE sexual situations but they aren't "over the top" or out of place. (For those of you who DON'T like that sort of thing.) These are for adult readers. Love the way you've connected the characters and the stories. Thanks for sharing, Lisa. Looking forward to Mac's story.
I found these stories very well written. It took me a little time to get immersedmbut once there the stories just kept getting better. There is humor, angst, and enough action to keep you engaged. I would recommend this to anyone who loves PNR. Looking forward to reading the next books in the series.
I’ve always loved a good shifter book. This series is different than others in some ways. Lisa has a new set of rules and she made some changes to the “go to” shifter myths. What you get in the end is amazing characters with super charged stories that will have you on the edge of your seat. Amazing series! Super read! Enjoy!!!
While the books are certainly cheesy romances (which is a good thing) I absolutely applaud the story continuity throughout. Its wonderful being able to still follow the characters of book one while discovery a whole new love story in book 4. I really look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Each character plays an important food in the series. The books are well written and the characters are well developed. The are shifters, true mates and a demon bent on destroying the world. I highly recommend this book series.
I have read many "fated" or "true" mate stories over the years, but this series definitely shoots into a tie for my favorite true mate series. It's a new and fresh idea, with the author not afraid to make our heroines atypical. Can't wait to read the next story
found a new favorite author!!! This series was so addictive. I couldn't stop and I can't wait to start the next bundle. amazing characters, strong female lead, and a perfect adventure. what an incredible world that she has created. looking forward to reading more by Lisa.
I thoroughly enjoyed these books. The women had strong spirits and the men were complex and sexy. Each book complimented the last but still had it's own unique storyline. I can't wait to start book #5.
I absolutely loved this series. My second time reading it. I loved the story lines. You fall in love with each character as they develop in the story. It's one of those series you hope never ends.
