She's the girl next door he's always protected. He's the man she's always wanted. Will the threat of a killer finally get them on the same page?
Logan Lemaster drew Melanie Barnes under his protective wing the moment he rescued her from a fall off her bike. She was six and he thirteen, and his over-protectiveness never abated over the next twenty years. When a good friend ends up murdered on the family’s private island following one of Logan’s BDSM weekend parties, Melanie insists on being there to comfort him. Only, he hadn’t counted on the grown woman’s tenacious determination to worm her way past his defenses and into his bed. He has spent the past eight years – since Melanie reached adulthood and made her interest in expanding on their friendship known – refusing to jeopardize their special bond by introducing her to his kinky preferences. But he is only human, and when her grief over an assault on a co-worker leads him to comfort her, his good intentions fall to the wayside under her responsive body.
As he and his cousins plan to hold another BDSM party to feel out their friends for hints about which one betrayed them in the worst way, Logan tutors Melanie in his sexual preferences so she can join him. But as they grow closer, so does the killer, and when her life is threatened, Logan knows he will stop at nothing to protect her and make her his in every way.
Publisher’s Note: This murder mystery romance is intended for adults only. It contains elements of power exchange and BDSM, including explicit sexual scenes and anal play. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.
I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.
I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. Logan Lemaster has always thought of neighbor Melanie Barnes as a kind of little sister, while she's had a crush on him for years. However, Logan doesn't think his innocent neighbor would share his interest in BDSM -- until she pushes him into seeing her as a sexy adult woman. However, they're both in danger when a guest of the Lemasters is murdered at their private island retreat.
Just to let people know, the murder mystery part of the storyline goes over all three books, so this kind of isn't a stand-alone book. There's some investigation in this book, but it's a little light on the mystery. This book is mostly kinky romance, with character introductions and world building. It's a good romance and a good story. I like that the author is branching out to include more suspense in her novels. While the story isn't quite at the same level as more experienced authors in the genre, it's still a good read.
We all have certain authors that are a definite favorite, and when they release a new book, you can’t wait to read it. Well, for me, one of those authors is BJ Wane. The first book in this trilogy did not disappoint and kept me on the edge of my seat with the pages turning with a large cast of characters.
Logan, Hunter, and Ryder Lemaster lost their parents when they were young boys and was raised by a confirmed bachelor uncle, Jim, who share the proclivities of a BDSM lifestyle, making sure they understood the rules of safe, sane, and consensual. They own a private island, Magnolia, with a pre-civil war restored home that they use to host BDSM parties. There are rules and guidelines for areas that are open and then those that are closed to the guest. After a night of fun with a group, the next morning will come with the shocking discovery that one of their friends, Lynn, has been hit in the back of the head and left dead on the beach. That will set this tale into motion.
Next door neighbor, Melanie Barnes, has been in love with Logan since she was six years old, and twenty-two years later, those feelings haven’t changed. But Logan sees her as the little girl next door, and not the full grown woman she is. Mel has spied on him and his twin cousins, Hunter and Ryder, and their wild and explicit parties through the hedgerow while growing up. When word breaks about the murder of a woman on Magnolia Island, Mel will go to offer comfort to Logan. But when Mel is attacked outside of a bar, it will be Logan there for her.
The plot will have two people brought together under trying circumstance, emotions are raw, deep-seated feelings have been hidden, and temptation and daring moves will change things and relationships. Life and death situations for a co-worker investigating the case will add suspense to the unsolved murder of Lynn, and now another life hangs in the balance. Logan and Mel will take their friendship to another level, but he warns her his sexual preferences is intense. “As for her not being able to handle his sexual appetite, she relished the chance to dine at that table and sample all his tastes.” “You win this battle. It remains to be seen if either of us will win the war.”
Melanie proved she can be open to Logan’s proclivities and learns more about herself in the process. “More than one storm brewing that threatened the waters surrounding their island retreat.” Is one of their friends a murderer? Did Melanie overhear a conversation that puts the Lemasters family on edge? While the story does not end with resolutions, it isn’t a total cliffhanger either, and the next book, Hunter, will be out later this month.
I loved this book! Watching Logan and Melanie walk that fine line between longtime friendship and wanting to explore more was fun. Logan and Melanie were friends from the time he helped her when she fell off her bike while growing up. Over the years they both wanted more but the timing was never right and both were unsure if they should explore more. Logan was afraid of losing Melanie if they took their deep friendship in a romantic direction and it did not work out. While Melanie felt the same way, she wanted to take their relationship and see where it could lead. At the same time this is happening, Logan and his friends found themselves in the middle of a murder mystery at their family home on Magnolia Island. Logan does not want Melanie anywhere near the danger that is going on or the knowledge of what him and his cousins do at these BDSM parties. Melanie has no intentions of letting any of this stop her from getting closer to Logan and getting the man she has dreamed of for all these years. Come join this adventure that will keep you guessing who is responsible for the murder and if Melanie and Logan can make their relationship work.
I truly enjoyed this first book in this new trilogy! The author wrote characters that were fun with real friendships and love. They were strong and developed with room to explore in the next books in the trilogy. Each brother harbors past hurts and secrets that only keep the reader wanting to keep reading to discover what each is experiencing. The story includes fun, friends, love, menage, BDSM, spankings, jealousy, mistrust, storms brewing, danger, and mystery. I recommend this well written murder mystery with plenty of BDSM elements. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I was fascinated by the concept of how the author wrote this story. You begin with two plots, the common factor was Logan, as you continue to read, you don’t even notice how the two plots have entwined into one HOT, suspenseful story that will keep you begging for more.
The book begins with Logan and his cousins, whom he had been raised with after their parents died, at their island party mansion. The uncle that took them in, introduced them to the BDSM life and this island provides them the privacy to invite some trusted friends to go to for a week or weekend of fun. Unfortunately, this party ended with the beautiful Lynn being found on the beach dead. The only person who could have done this, had to be one of their friends they had invited.
Upon Logan’s return home, we see the second plot begin to form. Melanie was the sweet little next-door neighbor girl to Logan when they were younger. The moment he helped her up from falling off her bike, she never forgot the look in his eyes and the way he made her feel. They had been great friends, he was there for her after a horrible date, he took her to celebrate her graduation, they communicated regularly while he was away in the military and now she wants more. She is grown and full of hunger and passion for Logan, and it appears he feels the same, but he isn’t so willing to risk what they have if she doesn’t take his lifestyle well.
I was wrapped up in both plots and as I continue to read, it wasn’t till Melanie was deep in the other plot that I was aware of what the author did. I can’t go farther in telling you about this because it will spoil the fun, but Logan is not only going to find the truth about Melanie and Lynn, he is also going to discover the truth about himself. The path this story goes on once the two worlds merge is captivating and will give you an epic ride. I strongly suggest you grab your copy of Logan and I can hardly wait to dive into the cousin’s books. I am not one that enjoys a book if it feels it is going in two directions, but this author has done it masterfully and gave me hours of enjoyment as I tried to predict what would happen next.

She wanted him since she was a little girl and now an adult she was more determined
Logan had quite an appetite for sex enjoying BDSM with his twin cousins Hunter and Ryder the peerless parties had been their highlight for some time until the death of Lynn one of the girls on the island, Melanie was the girl next door whom he had a soft spot for but she wanted more and putting her to the test she was willing to try his world of sex. George one of the reporters at the paper where she worked had a meeting with an informant about the murder on magnolia island he was like a dad to Melanie and when he was found badly injured it made Melanie more determined to help Logan and his cousins to find the killer. If I’m truthful I’m not into arse smacking kinky sex so wasn’t sure if this story would appeal, however I do enjoy trying to solve crimes in books as I read them therefore I recommend this book as having a really good story line
This first part of this series is all about Logan acting on his attraction to his young neighbor, and the death of his friend with benefits BDSM poly partner. This story doesn't actually figure out who killed Lynn but it does end with Logan and Megan together. I must admit I took away a star because this story had some strong resemblances to another BJ Wane story where the guy and girl were in a bit of a big brotherly situation even though the ladies both wanted more of a relationship... In both stories the guys were worried their BDSM fetishes would destroy their relationship with the women they cared for and so they were trying to avoid a sexual relationship. It is a good story but its the murder investigation that makes you want to keep reading but its not solved here.
Logan and Melanie knew each other since she was 6 years old and he was 13 – and over the next 22 years, she followed his life, always with an unrequited crush on him. Circumstances pull them together and he introduces her to the BDSM life that he enjoys and shares with his friends. They are all focused on the death of another young female friend of theirs, as well as the attempted murder of a journalist from the newspaper where Melanie works. Melanie and Logan develop their relationship and are a loving couple by the end of the book, and he does a good job of educating her in his tastes in BDSM, but there is no conclusion to the murder mystery, as the story ends with a cliffhanger about the murder mystery.
Absolutely fantastic writing. This is one of those series that keeps you guessing and and can't wait to get to the next chapter. I loved all the well written characters and there were times the characters stories got me right in the feels. I love a good story that makes you feel like you are there and actually know the people and can connect with them in a personal way. I was blown away at how angry I felt toward those that would cause emotional pain to the one character and made her feel like she was not worthy of being loved and cared for. The ending was also a very happy one although very unexpected. I am excited to read more of B.J's writing as well as the many other great authors that I have recently been introduced to.
I purchased the entire series a while ago, and decided to review them now, since I'd read them and had to digest them first.
This is not a good a book as some of her others, but I felt, halfway through, that the characters needed more depth, and that would have put the book over the top.
Please don't take that to mean I didn't enjoy the book, because I certainly did. I really could get into the playfulness that was a part of Magnolia Island. It reminded the reader that sex is fun. And in this book, combined with aspects of BDSM, the steam was definitely turned on high.
I won't comment on the plot until I get to book 3. Why? Because I read these in one sitting, and the plot itself wends its way through all three books.
I love B J Wane and have read most if not all of this author's books. Let me tell you that this author continues to amaze and write highly developed characters with real flaws and deeply emotional story lines that are entertaining, erotic, fun , sexy and a hint of BDSM. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I love the journey the 2 main characters take from childhood together to find love and deep commitment together as a couple. A journey, like life, full of twists and turns., hurt and happiness, anger and finally love. Please read this book and I highly recommend you research this author and try reading other books as well.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book. Hunter, Ryder, and Logan, dominant twins and their cousin. This is Logan's story. While playing on Magnolia Island a friend is murdered. With only their group of friends at the Island, it means someone they trust is the killer. Logan has always been twisted around the finger of the girl next door, Melanie. Melanie has always been crazy about Logan. Now while trying to discover who the killer is, his relationship with Mel deepens. Delicious book and I cant wait for Ryder and Hunter's stories. BDSM, spanking, sex, anal.
This was a good story that I think I would have loved if I actually believed that what Melanie and Hunter had was actually love. She loved him but the entire book was her trying to break down his defenses towards her and ide think after the 4th rejection any self respecting woman woulda said screw it and moved on. He didn't so u characters as fall in love with her, it was more like he resigned and have into a relationship with her. It didn't ever feel loving to me. Caring yes, but loving no.
BJ Wane does it again with another great book that is just the 1st in this series. Through her words and plot-twists she compels me to care a great deal about the two main character, Logan and Melanie. Melanie grew up next to Logan and he was always there for her when she got hurt. This book was beautifully written and engaging and I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of ths book.
Logan and Mel had an interesting dynamic going on in their relationship. As determined as she was to be part of his life, he was equally determined to keep his distance. Logan was not only trying to protect her from his lifesp, but from the murder that occurred on the island.
A romantic suspense mystery that keeps you engaged from beginning to end. Just an FYI, the relationship has a HEA, but the mystery continues in the next book.
Logan and Mel have known each other since childhood. Logan at a few years older finds sexual satisfaction through BDSM while Mel is vanilla. But love, chemistry and danger have a way of overcoming reservations and protective instincts. Add in a murder, mystery, intrigue, a cast of suspects, deliciously decadent BDSM scenes and complete intriguing characters and this book will entertain and keep you itching to read the next story in this sexy murder mystery trilogy!
My first book by BJ Wane and it won't be my last. This is friends to lovers book although Logan is having a hard time taking that first step and taking Mel on a journey into the lifestyle. It has very likable characters. Mel is really sassy and feisty, but has a sweet caring side to go with it. And then there is a murder mystery to solve.
A must-read erotic mystery! I was hooked from the beginning and can't wait for more clues to this sexy 'who done it' in book two. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too long as the publisher added the release dates in May and June of the next two books in this trilogy.
What an excellent start to this trilogy. It's got murder, mystery, angst, and of course all the sizzling hot BDSM sex you expect from BJ Wane. I loved this book and I really can't wait for Logan's brothers' stories! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I've been reading Ms. Wane for years...and this book does NOT disappoint. As we've come to expect from her, this book has detailed character development and plot, along with scorchingly HOT sex and BDSM. What is new with this series, however, is a murder mystery and Ms. Wane has hit this ball out of the park! The book is a page turner with the intrigue and mystery. No Spoilers here-- just read it <3 The chemistry between Logan and Melanie sizzles and their dynamic is sexy with a protective sweetness that will draw you in. I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in this series!
This is a brand new series from BJ Wane and let me just say it’s an incredible start! Luckily, the books won’t be released that far apart since Logan and Hunter end on cliffies about who killed the subbie?
Melanie has had a crush on Logan Lemasters since she could remember. She also knew what went on at the parties since she was a neighbor of the Lemasters. But Logan saw her as nothing more than a friend that he needed to protect. After the murder on the island, things start to heat up between them and Logan begins to show Melanie his lifestyle to get her ready for the party. But the murderer(s) are still on the loose and Melanie is danger.
I ate this book up from the beginning all the way to “The End” and I’m totally excited for Hunter’s book coming up next. BJ just keeps on getting better with every book she writes, and Logan most definitely proves it beyond the shadow of a doubt.
While I've read a few books now by this author, she's not someone that I've really followed. So I was excited to read the first book in this trilogy. It didn't disappoint me. The dialogue is fun & the relationship is believable between Logan & Mel where they have a relationship built on years of friendship. This was a great read that I really enjoyed. I'm not a fan of 'serial' books as I always feel a bit manipulated into buying the next & so while the story didn't fully resolve, there is a HEA for this couple which made me happy enough to anticipate the next book.
By Donna L Edit Review Delete Review This review is from: Logan (Murder On Magnolia Island Trilogy Book 1) (Kindle Edition) This is a great start to a new series. It grabbed my attention from the first scene. It was not what I expected in BDSM romance but I was hooked.Murder, mystery and detailed interaction between the characters is just the start.Logan Lemaster and his two cousins are enjoying a weekend at their Island home. Here their friends can make use of the BDSM facilities without judgement. Their peace is shattered when a body is found. Logan also has to accept that the little girl next door is all grown up and is still spying on him.Melanie Barnes has been in love with Logan since childhood, but she has to make him see that she is all grown up and ready to live in his world. The story is full of tantalizing sex and punishment scenes. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Take me to Magnolia Island please!!! Melanie has adored the guy next door since she was 6 years old and he played her protector by bandaging up her knee when she fell off her bike. Logan continued to guard and comfort Mel but refused to see her as anything but the girl next door. Mel refuses to give up her long stranding crush on Logan and after the murder on his island, she's there to comfort him. Logan decides to give Mel a taste of his dominant side so she will back off but it turns out she's stronger than he gave her credit for. She's also into his alpha side. Add in the mystery and danger on the island and th I s is one exciting story. Oh yeah and lots of hot, kinky loving too! I voluntarily received an advanced reader copy of this book.
