I feel awful giving this unfinished work such a low rating, but this book needs a lot of polishing. The world-building was abysmal and the writing felt a bit forced. The cover however is absolutely stunning and is what made me pick it up to begin with.
Okay, I know I probably shouldn't rate this yet considering only 4 parts are posted on Wattpad but I can always change it later if I want, right? By the way, I haven't been that active on Wattpad in a few years tbh... I just recently discovered Ariel Bissett on YouTube and fell in love with her. I downloaded the app again just for her. I'm not an easy fan to win over. I really don't admire a lot of strangers but something about the way Ariel speaks and her ideas and thoughts are so similar to mine. She's just a beautiful person with an interesting brain.
Now on to the actual story... It's about a witch working in a bookshop and witchcraft becoming legal. I really like that idea. I don't know what she plans to do with the story yet. I feel like it's well written considering. I'm really excited to read more chapters. I hope she doesn't make me wait too long but I also don't mind because I'd rather wait for something good than read something rushed out.
I'm rating it now because this is what I feel about what's published so far and because Ariel has a patreon for support but I'm, uhm, poor so this is all I can do to support her. I'm excited to read what's next and I don't think I'll be disappointed. 💕
(If my opinion changes I'll update this review but I have high hopes.)
i mean, i'd love to continue, but it hasn't been updated in ages?? which makes me really sad and therefore i am aggressively shelving this as abandoned. i loved the first chapters, though, dammit
This story is incredibly unique, I can't wait to read more from Ariel Bissett! Her passion for books and reading is one of the many reasons why I love watching her YouTube videos but she has also managed to incorporate this magic into her story! X
Not going to rate this, because it obviously isn't all out yet, but I think I have to shelve this one for now. Love the concept. Love the project, the idea of bringing the tradition of intentionally serialized stories to the realm of fanfiction and online writing. But the writing is really just not for me. I am hopeful for this project and where it goes, but I can't see myself making any more time for it this year. Maybe in a few months, I'll check back and see where it is. (Love love love Ariel's poetry, YouTube channel, and everything else she's ever done! Just not in the right headspace for this one, I think.)
