Even though there's a bit information that not much relevant for digital photography, it's give you a glimpse explanation how color photography works:
- How to add or subtract the colors to be able correct the actual image
- Color temperature and how light affect it, from muted dawn, white light that show the true colors of the object on the daylight, warm of sunset, to once again becomes black and white.
- Mood of the colors, how colors can affect how you perceive the photographs
- The colors of time and place; early yellow, late gold; cold spring, rich sunset;
- Color as subject of the photograph
- History of color process
- Ernst Haas's Colorful World (The best)
- How to develop film and print it
- Color experimentation

If you are interested in photography, this is an informative book. I am slowly working my way through the enormous Time Life collection I 'inherited' and find all the books amazing.

Published in 1971, this series is a comprehensive overview of many aspects of photography. Only the titles specific to equipment; The Camera; Light and Film; and The Print are a bit outdated, but not completely for the same principles still apply such as shutter speed, depth of field, etc. By far, a great series for any would be serious photographer even today.

Great history, lots of photos, and some solid advice. Seriously dated, and a bit lacking in practical applications. Worth it for the price I paid (nearly free), but don’t pay more than a couple bucks.

While this one is obviously dated, it is still fascinating reading about how color photography works in film. And it gives very specific instruction on how to develop color film and then print it.

Picked it up free at photo club and even though it is terribly outdated, enjoyed it a lot. The manipulation section was particularly interesting since nowadays it is dime a dozen for shots like those.
