Hobune: Fakte hobustest ja ratsutamisest

Rate this book

Everyone who likes horses, rides regularly, makes their living from horses or is just merely interested in horse behaviour could benefit by having this treasure trove of information in their library.
It is full of trivia, miscellaneous facts, pertinent information and lovely illustrations and photographs.
You don't need to read it in the traditional manner but can just open a page and check out what's there. I love it!

Very simple and basic language explanation of everything connected to horses. It was an worthwhile investment to have this book on hand for reference.

Given that this book was in fact a Miscellany I sort of felt inclined to give this a better score than I did.
It is mostly written in textbook fashion... dry and straight to the point, but often with the assumption that the reader knows a good deal more about horses than having read 'Black Beauty' once or twice.
The middle third felt like an entirely different book: the first five and a half chapters cover a range of well order and nicely organized topics that flow well from one to the next, and than BAM 'the basics of everything you need to know about probably all the sports you can do with horses' for slightly more than a hundred pages, and finally a little relief in the form of three brief chapter about care and health.
The pacing and the amount of time on what really to an outsider seems to be the same thing made a dry read dehydrating.

I reccomend that if you need the information, especially if you are a beginner, you might find it easier in a the children's section.

I'm a total horse lover anyway (always have been) and I ride every week, so this is right up my alley. A great book for beginers interested in horses, and people who already know stuff. Great early history of the horse and a quick reference for lots of different tidbits. Wonderful

I enjoyed this book. It is a good quick reference book for anything horse related. I really liked learning about the famous ancient horses and also about many of the common ailments that horses suffer from. I will keep this book so when I have horses of my own I can use it as a quick guide.
