Athens is on track to a planetary disaster. Before Erin can settle into domestic bliss with her family, she’s called away to do one last assignment. The orbital ring that’s cooling the planet of Athens is breaking down, and no one knows why. It’s the perfect job for our trusty engineer.
But there’s more at stake than the future of New Canaan’s fourth habitable planet. In a bid to stave off an inevitable invasion, Tanis Richards has invited advisers from the Transcend to consult on the problem.
Erin faces one of the greatest challenges of her career: to play the polite diplomat. Treading the tightrope of political intrigue isn’t in her skill set, but she must do it to buy the time the New Canaanites need to prepare for attack.
Oh, and if she can save Athens, that would be good too.

I found this quite the emotional roller coaster, with lots of suspense. While the timeline meant that I thought I had a good idea of what the outcomes would be, I found that there is still plenty of room for a number of surprises which is good (even when some of the surprises were of a sad nature). The characters showing their strengths and weaknesses well here, and how well they complement each other, with some good clearing of air at times as well. All round, a very enjoyable story, and again get some good views of a planet being terraformed.
Yet another in the series and the last of this particular ARC. As the colony building progresses the time of war with the test of the galaxy draws near and the more they delay the better they will survive. It's up to our fans favourite Erin to help the colony again. I particularly liked the change of pace as Erin matures and we start to see more external threats to the new cannans.
Yet another great book in this series, we that Erin is on Athens to work with engineers from the Transcend to fix a problem with the Peter device that regulates the terraforming of the plant. Unknown to her and others engineers it is the Transcend forces which has caused the problems. Once again Erin has to resolved the issues, and also rescue herself from two of these engineers have a hidden agenda.
The other three books in this storyline are slower with about 95% story building leading to the final 5% action that predictably ties the separate storylines together. This book read more like an actual book, but was very predictable.
If this author writes more Aeon 14 universe books I’d read them, but I don’t think I’d branch out to other works they’ve written.

Just amazing how it ties everything together. Very enjoyable read that was worth the wait. Makes you want to just hug the little family and give them a full platoon of Marines.
I loved these books and it was interesting to read about all the things that go into transforming worlds. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure.
