As the rarest hybrid in the galaxy, Mercy has been forced to hide in plain sight for fear slavers and collectors would hunt her down. Quite ironic, considering her late father had been the greatest slaver of the Guldan Empire. Determined to make amends for some of the wrongs he has done, she goes on a mission to Braxia. But those plans are quickly derailed when she encounters Ravik; a mountain of a man with a fearsome face, and a planet in turmoil...
As the new ruler of Braxia, Ravik is surrounded by enemies. His planet is teetering on the brink of bankruptcy and stuck in ancient, bigoted ways. When an exotic, sassy, and strong female reluctantly accepts his protection during her stay on Braxia, she becomes both his strength and his greatest weakness. As his detractors plot and scheme against him, Ravik fears the horrors of his past will destroy the fragile happiness and glimmer of hope this woman has brought him and his people...
In this brutal, unforgiving world, greed, hatred, and twisted obsessions will clash in a bid for power, for the future, and for revenge!
Warning: Adult Content. This book contains scenes of violence that may not be suitable for sensitive readers.
USA Today bestselling author Regine Abel is a fantasy, paranormal, and sci-fi junkie. Anything with a bit of magic, a touch of the unusual, and a lot of romance will have her jumping for joy. She loves writing hot alien warriors meeting no-nonsense, kick-ass heroines. Her novels are steamy, action-packed, and with the twists and turns you never saw coming.
Before devoting herself as a full-time writer, Regine had surrendered to her other passions: music and video games! After a decade working as a Sound Engineer in movie dubbing and live concerts, Regine became a professional Game Designer and Creative Director, a career that has led her from her home in Canada to the US and various countries in Europe and Asia.
This is the second in spin off/consecutive series that runs alongside the authors fantastic ( and one of my all time favourites) The Veredian Chronicles.
To fully enjoy this book and have a full understanding of the multi layered story arc within this book you need to read the first in series Anton’s Grace. I would and do HIGHLY recommend reading, the complete Veredian Chronicles too! This book is a fantastic continuance of an already mind blowingly great series...that is not to be missed.
Featuring the feisty and fearless Guldan/Veredian hybrid, Ravena Mercy Vrok, daughter to the most nefarious Guldan slave master, Garruk Vrok and the ultimate in Veredian healers Maheva, Mercy embarks on self tasked mission to right the wrongs committed by her father and brother. Starting by dismantling her brothers base on Braxia and then on rescue her Veredian sisters.
But to gain access to Braxia, Mercy will need support from a Braxian and to keep her hybrid nature secret... the rarest of Veredian hybrids and a woman to boot cannot just swan into Braxia. A planet that is so male orientated and dominated, where hybrids are viewed in the lowest regard, where honour is everything and where women are property and have little or no rights.
The Braxian ruler Magnar Ravik Xeldar.. is fighting an uphill battle to leave the archaic ways of the Braxian people behind, at every turn he faces obstacles ( with a divided council and underhanded deals ) and progress is slow. The planet is at the end of its limits and to prosper they must open their minds and learn to adapt to change.
Recognising each other spiritually from the moment they meet, what follows is a story of revenge, duty, compromise, internal and external wars and forgiveness of the most traumatic hurts.
This book, like all of Regine Abel’s novels it is heavy with plot, immense world building and character development. With truly kick ass heroines that take no prisoner and wonderfully protective, duty bound, gruffest of the gruff Marshmallow men, that ( bless their hearts) want to coddle and protect those aforementioned women... I freaking adored this book! It’s an epic read of Stella proportions! I adored Mercy when we met her in past books and Ravik was all I dreamed he would be following on from his introduction in Anotn’s Grace. ( goes without saying he’s been added to Bubbles The Book Pimps Reverse Harem of book boyfriends )
It was a highly anticipated read for me and did not disappoint. I’m blown away each time I read a book by Regine Abel...the emotional connection, the chemistry, the depth of the characters and the most wonderful of wordsmithing, that each time leaves me ugly crying and left with the happiest of book hangerovers experienced.
This author features highly to me as the ultimate in Unicorn Authors, each of her books hits all my SFR loving boxes. Her unique and original stories leave me begging for more. I cannot wait to see the following stories that will follow in the wake of Ravik’s Mercy.
Please take no notice to that awful cover! 😳😬 Would you please change to animé artwork instead, Ms Abel? 😘
It has been a while since I’ve read a book with a very satisfying heroine’s character like this. She is the ultimate alpha female! She knew what she wanted and she went there and get it!
The hero is certainly alpha male too, but when you read this book, you’ll understand who’s actually in charge in this relationship 😘😂.
If you read this author’s other book ‘I Married A Lizardman’, you will find out, this book kind of the hardcore version of that story 😂.
Our hero came from a backwards planet with barbaric cultures who worships the strength and pure blood. Women and hybrid just somewhere down there in their social hierarchy and they are free for all to abused and rape!! 🤬 He try very hard to change that horrific habits but the progress is very slow!
The heroine? A strong warrior, genius, rich, gorgeous and came from two technology superior species. Imagine what’s the reaction when she behaves as herself in the hero’s planet! Oh the outrage, haha, love it! 😍😘😂🤣
While this can be read as a stand alone, this book have a very strong connection with Veredian Chronicles series, her father is the villain who have breed her mother’s people and sold them for profit. I recommend you read Twist Of Fate before you read this one. No, Twist of Fate, is not her parents’s story but you will get more of Mercy’s backgrounds there.
Her parents relationship was complicated, they have their own novella too, but from this saga, we knew is not a HEA story. But there’s more about her dad that we can find, despite all his horrific’s way, he certainly a very interesting character and for that we have to read this series and Veredian Chronicles together. I did, but will write the review later, probably 😘.
I won’t call this series dark, but certainly more brutal than Veredian Chronicles. VD talk about hard subjects but off the pages while here you will read on the pages all those brutalities, tortures, rapes, the fights!
No one rapes the heroine mind you, but if you read this you will read those stuff here.
I tell you what, this author is surely becomes one of my favorite 😍😘.
This intermingled series of The Veredians and Braxians by Regine Abel has its hooks in me DEEP!!!
The way she makes the bad guys not always so black and white is masterful. I've caught myself in the last two books saying, "don't make me feel anything for that asshole!!"
*She does have warning at the beginning of this book that it is dark with dark themes....she wasn't kidding. This is up there, with one of the darkest scenes I've ever read on page.
Regine has brought to life in vivid detail what life is like on Braxia. You could see and feel what colors or lavk of colors were in Braxia. Ravik is the Magar of all the tribal council. His word is law, but some don't want to change. And then there is Mercy who just inherented her fathers estate. The minute they meet they know that they are meant for each other. I loved the instant chemistry they had, and the bathroom scene was freakin hot!!! It just got better from there. You fall in love with them even more as you hear their backstories... It broke my heart at what they had to go through at the hands of others. And the ending had me reading through the night, I couldn't put it down! I was not expecting it! I didn't see it coming.. The sequence of events had me jumping out of my seat. OMG! You could picture everything as you read it. I absolutely loved it!!
Wonderful characters, beastly H and the h has interesting genetics - sort of in-built tech. He's an awesome character, dragging his people into the future to save them from poverty and war. The h is mourning personal loss, and relishing being able to use her specials skills, hidden for so long. She's a great match for the H, edgy and demanding. Loved this couple.
This is a wonderful sequel to Anton's Grace. I am loving this spin off series to Regine Abel's Veredian Chronicles! The characters are very appealing and layered. The interpersonal relationships are complicated and develop throughout the story. The new Braxian world she is creating is interesting. The plot is far from predictable as well as both action packed (even a bit gruesome in places) and politically/culturally complex. There is a healthy dollop of sexy to keep romance readers interested. Plus there is enough futuristic space tech to satisfy sci-fi geeks. It really is a book that has something for everyone! This story is satisfying on its own but is a richer reading experience if you are already knowledgeable about and invested in the universe Ms Abel has created.
I’ve been waiting for this series to resume and I was so happy to read this book. It had me on edge. I was curious about Mercy after her introduction. I wanted Ravik to find happiness after he told Anton and Grace his sad tale. This is what I enjoy. This author brought it! It was all I wanted and more. Badass heroine and hero. Different alien cultures are her forte. I just want more Braxians. I can’t wait to see which Braxian is next. Is it Keran? Gorav? That epilogue was so good. It let us know there is more to come. I’m ready. The cover is great too. Keep up the great work. I highly recommend.
The characters are well rounded with detailed back stories, the plot is fast paced and complex, and the world building is so detailed that you can picture Braxia and its harsh challenges.
There is a great blend of action, and romance, with some gruesome moments that had me cringing.
The relationship between Ravik and Mercy develops quickly, and is not without its problems, but their love shines through. At times I was moved to tears because of what they had to suffer in both the present and the past.
This is a great continuation of both this spin off series, and the original Veredian stories.
This is an Adult Sci-fi with Ravik, a huge Braxian leader finding, Ravena, his hybrid forever mate. Meanwhile he is also trying to bring his planets people away from their slaver ways of the past and into the here and now.. It's a good combination of a great space adventure and some XXX scenes, not too heavy on the XXX scenes. His mate Ravena, is a strong, tall female with superior technical skills. If only the macho and bigoted Braxian men would allow her to help! Parts of this book are gory, since the Braxians are warriors and fight with axes and swords.
Wow I thought Anton's Grace was good but I think I found this one much more entertaining and I like that it had more of the Braxia world. Ravik's and his people they definitely have a long way in accepting a change for their world but they are slowly coming around for it. I'm so looking forward for more of them can't wait to see who will be next to find his female and the changes they will bring with them.
Ok... Gonna say now I’m really sick of the two main types of heroine I see out here... one) the weak wishy washy doormat, never really sticks up for herself ,forgives way,way too easily and let’s her H do just about anything he wants to her because he makes her panties damp.... Or b) ( not sure I dislike more) the sometimes hard,I’m strong ,pushy and opinionated, gotta always have my way,I don’t always think before I speak, but can be easily offended ,it’s my way or the highway , to be strong I MUST.do it by myself, because I’m strong! I must have my way...
Now Ravena was definitely b) not a) but she wasn’t all those things .... and the parts that she was ( stubborn, pushy, demanding, opinionated, short sighted) she wasn’t all those things all the time.... while I loved Amalia in the first book, she was more balanced than her aunts to me.. Amalia while she can be impetuous and definitely wants her way at times, she not soo hard and doesn’t try to have a female led relationship like her aunts try to do... Now don’t get me wrong ,I get that Ravena/Mercy like her sister were used to taking care of themselves had very good reasons for not trusting men but they both fell for good men that sadly they just didn’t always know to treat or trust...
I started off good with Mercy, rooting for her all along the way, eager for her to collect her inheritance and get off her fathers evil backwards home world that had less than zero respect for women.... and I loved how the moment she realized Ravik was her mate she went after him, never hiding how she felt or playing games.... That was great ! But what annoyed me was her pride, hubris and just plain stupidity when it came to her safety .... She has to quickly run from her fathers home home because slavers were on her tail soo they could catch her and assault her and strip her or her wealth and sale her as a pet or toy ..and here she was off to a planet that was even more backwards than that.... I get she was tired of hiding, geez almost 50 out of almost 200 years of life and she’s had to hide who she was, I’m sure it was hell but but just because her father and brother died didn’t mean the world was a safe place... Even if she’d stayed with her mother and sister and niece and their families ,she’d still have to be careful to some degree but she didn’t ,she was going to a rough backwards place and didn’t want to take necessary protocols to keep herself safe... WTH ?!? One of the things she loves about Rivik from the get go is how huge and strong and muscular and masculine he is,but even he had guards when he went out because it was just that dangerous but no big bad Ravena doesn’t want to have guards even after numerous attempts on all their lives she bristles and bridals at the thought she can’t take car3 I’d herself ... WTH beyotch ? Your fortune is higher then most ppl can count and your a literal one of a kind breed that could sell for almost as much as that and you think it’s safe to wander around alone ? WTH! I would tried to over look it if her stupidity didn’t play soo well into the end of the book kidnapping.... Hey, I know these sort things have to happen in this sorta book but to happen due the H or in the case the h’s pride and hubris just ticks me off.... But what fit me even more was the naming.... At the end of the book as usual we have the h and H having beautiful new editions to the Veredian race... what got me was her insistence at naming her beautiful new baby boy after her evil father and brother... WTF Now for four books we are told about the truly evil plots set out for her father and brother , but now all their issues ar3 being blamed or culture and being rejected by a father or mother or both and somehow it’s like they just didn’t have a choice ... say what ? Ok,thru his sick messed up forced breeding program her father might have helped keep the Veredian species going ,but that doesn’t make the sick things he did right, nor does his culture excuse his actions either.... same for her brother ok,so both his parents rejected him,and he came from a messed up culture , Varruk still had choices to make and killing and force breeding and sexually abusing ppl and selling them was his choice. No on forced him,not even his father... And for her to try and excuse all that and to give her son both their names to carry on their line ,w/the sick sick legacy that’s attached to it was sixty shades of wrong .... Dear gods I wanted to slap her sooo silly, and it sooo wouldn’t of been funny... I’d definitely recommend, especially if you’ve been reading the Veredian series ( which I hope there is more of) but not a fan of this h at all...
OH, MIGOSH !!!!! I was captivated right from the start ! Having read the VERIDIAN CHRONICLES,As well as ANTON'S GRACE , I was anticipating this book like I was a crackhead looking for my next hit !!!! It did not disappoint . In this book we read about RAVIK , the Magnar or King , of BRAXIA. We met him in Anton's Grace . He is trying to drag his backwater world into the future literally kicking and screaming. The Braxians are a fierce fighting race with traditions of female inferiority and submissiveness. A true host would allow his guests free use of any of the women in his household , except a wife . But wives were few . Concubine plentiful. Also , any female Braxian not of pure blood , was whored out to any man. The male children were often put to death . Utterly barbaric!! Ravik is trying to change things , but it is hard when only a few are seeing things his way. Other worlds do not want to associate with such barbarism. And Braxia is on the verge of collapse. Many situations and predicaments make up someone's history , and Ravik could tell you stories about growing up under his life as the son of a tyrannical father who lived by the old ways. Ravenna or Mercy , as she likes to be called is a Veridian -Guldan hybird. So rare that there are only two in all the worlds. She has been hidden away most of her whole life because" Rare" finds bring out the crazies. Her father feared kidnapping and sequestered her away in one of his many slave ships. She grew up Veridian , but was also aware of her Guldan roots. Her father Gruuk Vrok was a ultra successful slaver who accrued a massive fortune, and as his only heir , Mercy must collect her inheritance in Guldar , which is a world almost as bad as Braxia where females are practically third class citizens. She is trying to find a list that her late brother had of the many sales of slaves in order to put all of her Mother's children together . And this leads her to Braxia. As Mercy and Ravik meet sparks fly immediately, and Mercys technology and psi abilities come in handy more then once , but how will an independent woman in her own for the first time be able to live on such a barbaric world ??? Ravik is trying to induce change , but how long will That take ??? This story was amazing from the first word until the last , and I am anxiously awaiting MORE !!!!! Thank you REGINE ABEL for a fantastically awesome read !!!!😀😀😀😀😀

Ravik’s Mercy is the second book in the Braxians series by author Regine Abel. This series is a spinoff of Ms. Abel’s Veredian Chronicles. I highly recommend that you read these books before beginning the Braxians series. I believe reading them first will give you a better foundation to understand and appreciate the Braxian series. Even though each book tells a different couple’s story, some backstories might confuse the reader if the other books are not read first.
Ravik’s Mercy tells the story of Magnar Ravik Xeldar and Revena Mercy Vrok. I have been looking forward to reading Mercy’s story ever since we were introduced to her. She is a strong woman who had to hide for most of her life. Now as an independent woman, Mercy doesn’t want to hide anymore. She decides to go to her brother's house on Braxia to look for information that he might have kept hidden. Mercy wanted to go without supervision, but then she met Ravik. Ravik is the ruler of the Braxian people, and he is slowly trying to update the laws since they are mostly archaic. Unfortunately, the Braxian people are resistant to the changes, and Ravik and Mercy soon find themselves in trouble.
The storyline was gripping and well developed, and I had a hard time putting my Kindle down! I definitely recommend adding it to your TBR list!!
After Anton’s Grace,i knew i wanted to know more about this far-away world and Ravik’s Mercy gave me want i needed.
Mercy is a tough girl with a very soft core. Being a rare mix of races, she’s wanted by many, and that’s not counting her inheritance from her father and her brother. She needs to sort out her brothers business and find the lists with all the women he’s sold, her half sisters among those.... His home was on Braxia and she decides to ask Anton for help. That’s where she meets Braxia’s ruler,Ravik. He has a dark history of his own,one that pushes him to make changes on Braxia. He is also her ONE. The one she always knew she was meant to be with. But to get their happy after they have to deal with a lot of trouble first.
As with Anton’s Grace, this story deals with some dark topics,so if you want to avoid those,i advise you not to read this story. But if that’s what you’re looking for,i say enjoy. I know i did.
Wow! I want to liken the planet Braxia to a cross between Game of Thrones and the Vikings! Ravik is the Magnar, or King/leader, of this savage race of warriors. Their views about women and their place are seriously backwards. Ravena Mercy comes along and helps Ravik move Braxia into a more progressive way of thinking. As a Veredian, Mercy is a warrior woman in her own right. But many clans are against them. These two soulmates end up in the fight of their lives for the future that Braxia needs.
Ravik’s Mercy was one wild ride! If I didn’t know better, I’d say a guy wrote this. The battle scenes are that good! And the bedroom scenes sizzle. Great story and hard to put down! 5 stars
I devored this book so fast! I was eager to read Ravik's story and was not dissapointed. The story got me turning the pages so fast and at the same time sad when it was over. I liked how their love develop over time, the physical attractions was fast but the way their relationship grew was beautiful to read. Is not about sacrificing yourself or loose your identity but to connect with the person you love. The epilogue was just perfect. I was just so happy for them and perhaps another Braxians story? Ravik's s sons? 5 -I love you Ravik- stars
Ravik is the ruler of Braxia. Braxia is stuck in ancient ways that Ravik is working to change. Mercy has just inherited her father's estate and is on her way to Braxia to make up for her father's slave holder ways. Everything is derailed when she meets and accepts Ravik's protection. The chemistry between this couple was instant and sizzling. Will Ravik be able to protect Mercy from his enemies? How will the couple develop a relationship among the chaos? An awesome Sci-Fi read that I recommend.
What a powerful story! Mercy and Ravik held me in their thrall for the entire story. Seeing the step-by-step transformation of the Braxian world through their eyes is enlightening. They each experience frustration, anger, and a growing hope for a very different Braxian future. The way is not easy. They have cruel enemies, but revenge is sweet indeed! Awesome reading - don’t miss it!
Regine managed to put do herself yet again. Amazing continuation of Braxian saga. Story and characters are pure perfection. It's filled with action, feelings, changes, hot scenes, you name it! Everyone would like to be with Ravik and everyone would want to be fabulous Mercy. Can't wait for next book!
Another amazing book! Holy cow it had everything I wanted. I can’t complain about anything as usual! This series is amazing and you need to jump on it. You can really feel the connection between Ravik and Mercy. I’m left dying for more...again!
Another spectacular book in this series. I loved reading Ravik and Mercy's story, it had me laughing and crying. I didn't want to put this book down it kept me enthralled from beginning to end!!
I loved the first book in the Braxians series but I think I like this one even more. Great characters, interesting world building, good story line, and an excellent finish.
I loved this series so much. It was rich in details and political intrigue with light and dark parts. I love the kick ass heroine s and wonderful alpha males.
Lord have mercy. Pun intended. 😆 Mercy is a fierce heroine. Gods I love her. I was interested in Mercy when reading The Veredian Chronicles. I had to jump over here to the Eastern side to see what she was up to. Knowing the Braxians from book one, I wondered how a match would fair between the mixed breeds. Mercy being a controversial character, I already wanted to back her. I'm all about the underdog. Yet, she was no underdog. She kicked ass and took names. Strong herione's are iffy. Either too brass making feel unsympathetic. Or a complete balance that makes me jump for joy. Mercy was written for my tastes. She claimed her beast like no one's business.
“I like my pets to be pretty. I like my men beastly and ferocious.”
Okay, Girl. Get it. 😂 Braxians males are huge, dominant, and have backward, ruthless rituals and beliefs. Caution to sensitive readers. The passion between the two was explosive! The story was full of political intrigue, romance, and hope, a brighter future for women in such a barbaric lifestyle. I've yet find a book that I don't love by this author. I'm going to stop now, I'm heading back to The Veredian Chronicles for now.
Highly recommend! Especially for lovers of darker romance.
Rafik is the Magnar or king of Braxia. He is trying to implement change to the planet by abolishing slavery and bringing the Braxian's into the current century with technology and behaviors. But there are factions that are against these actions. Some of Braxian's want to return to their cavemen like ways and not accept half breeds of any kind and make women subservient to any of their whims. Mercy is introduced to Ravik and she knows that he is her mate. Can they work together to save Braxia? Or will they be torn apart by the actions of her father's people as well as some of the Braxian's. I love that this series is interconnected with the Veredian series. There are so many characters that I would love to see get their happy ever afters. I hope to be reading many more books in this world.
