Казват на децата: „Вижте пеперудите. И хората го правят така“. Мишките пък сочат нас за пример: „Гледайте хората. Съвсем същото е!“. И ето че всичко става ясно.
Janosch is the pen name of Horst Eckert, one of Germany's most popular authors and illustrators of children's books. His works have won several awards.
(Sorry, the review will be in English, since I am Russian, don't have German fluent enough, and read it in Norwegian). For me it was a bit "too much". Janosch shows an erected penis in this book a couple of times, and it is brave enough for the book of this type. And he is speaking about sex not as of the thing needed only to make kids, which is also honest and brave. And I find it amusing, that parents are having sex on the last page, to proof that it is fun (while the main heroine is babysitting siblings and watches tv). And the class of teenagers is shown quite close to reality, as I remember it. But I decided not to show the book to my 5-years-old daughter. I could, no problem, but better we'd look at other books - there are plenty of them (we take them all in a library, and there is a shelf dedicated to this subject).
I can't clearly define the target age group for this book - the explanation and the story about mice is for preschoolers, some remarks and overall atmosphere is more for teenagers, yet I'd tell that in general the quality of the book is far from being classics for everybody. It is nice and sometimes funny, but not absolutely great.
