Jackie and Mark Lambert gave up work, accidentally bought a caravan and decided to tour in her full time with their four Cavapoos, Kai, Rosie, Ruby and Lani.
In their second year, with some actual caravanning experience under their belts, they get a bit more adventurous and cross Germany, where they take Caravan Kismet rafting on the River Neckar.
They are evicted from Austria, but on a brief bark around Bohemia and the Balkans (the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia), they discover a good few places that they reckon are definite GOBs - GET ONYER BUCKETLIST!
But lest they mislead you into thinking that Livin’ the Dream is all sunshine and rainbows, their return to the UK is blighted by a huge Fidose of Reality…

Absorbing – Makes you want to leap out of your armchair/bed/sofa etc and go see the world. I love these informative and funny books. An Inspirational Travelogue – I think it’s inspired me to do something similar. Lively and galvanic, with excellent reference material for armchair travelers wishing to convert to reality.Amusing and Informative – Entertaining, amusing and informative. Having a dog who comes caravanning with us there is so much we can relate to.It’s not so much what she says, but the way she says it – Jacqueline has a wonderful way with words that keeps me chucklingAlthough part of a series which is chronological in time, and follows the author since giving up work to travel, each book is a stand-alone adventure.
Another fun read following the adventures of Jackie, Marky and the Fab Four. I always thought it would be fun to have a caravan and travel wherever you want, it never happened for me so I’ll just live vicariously through these books!!!
I enjoyed Jackie Lambert’s first travel memoir of cavapoos and caravans so much that I was delighted to find a whole series of further adventures. In ‘Dogs on the Rhine’, Jackie returns with her unique blend of wonderful puns, comedy-drama and fascinating facts about the areas they visit with ‘Big Blue’ their tow van (and toy box), caravan Kismet and the fab four pups, Kai, Rosie, Ruby and Lani. From being evicted from a jobsworth campsite in the UK to walks along the Rhine, the place with no vowels in Krk to their beloved Italy, and more evictions in Austria, this is a delightful journey. Jackie and Husband Mark are great characters, but the pups are once more the stars of this particular play – just don’t run across the grass!
Another fun and entertaining book from Jacqueline Lambert. She and her husband Mark - and their lovable pups - set off in Big Blue and Caravan Kismet to enjoy new travels in Germany. They somehow manage to take diversions to Slovenia, Austria, the Czech Republic and Croatia. Some of the sights they saw in Croatia did make me laugh out loud, having had a similar experience myself. I didn't know where to look either! They have some hair raising moments on some dodgy roads and some less than welcoming moments in a couple of campsites. I love their can do attitude and sense of adventure. It's a super series - somehow I missed reading this one as I've read all the others. Highly recommended.
I am not too sure how I missed this book when I was binge-reading Jackie's previous adventures. Suffering from setbacks right at the beginning, wondering if they would ever get away to explore Germany.
Travelling around in their beloved Big-Blue and adorable Cavapoos Rosie, Ruby, Lani and Kai we follow Jackie and Mark on their travels and adventures. Everything from being evicted from a campsite to their walks along the Rhine is beautifully described in her unique way, along with a liberal dose of humour. Travelling to Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy with descriptive history of the areas they are travelling in.
Thank you Jackie for another fun and informative read, highly recommended.
Great adventures; things going right, things going wrong, and all their memories from their trip.
I really enjoyed Book 1 in Jacqueline Lambert's Adventure Caravanning with Dogs series, and couldn't wait to get stuck into Book 2.
It has an intriguing start as, she says it's the worst ever homecoming they've had! At the start of this book, all isn't well. Will they be able to overcome everything? Will it all work out? With a Caravan, you can just up and go; set off when and where you like....... No! Here is the other side of it, there can be setbacks. It's a very good read again-I love her humour, and I really liked her thoughts in songs/talking in song!
Well-written, with descriptions and history of the areas they visit. Another very pleasant read which covers travels to Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. Looking forward to more!
I thought that after traveling the world for nearly 55 years it was time to stop and retire but after reading Jacquelin Lambert’s books my feet are itching again. Thanks
As I am waiting for a train, this will be a short review! This is a very funny, interesting book. I hate but quite understand the anthropomorphic attitude to the dogs but I do how they are part of the family. Lovely book read it!!
