Bozena Zawisz has worked and counseled with multiple women about their worth as a person and to help them understand the false box men and women have placed on them. Strong Within: The Christian Woman’s Guidebook for Nurturing Self-Love and Personal Power, outlines the character Eve and the place she represents in our lives. This misunderstood woman is blamed for sins of mankind and therefore, the weight of her mistake was placed upon all women. As some men would like to believe.
Strong Within is more than a study guide about the first woman. Bozena Zawisz clears up the thoughts expressed about Eve and how to break free from this oppressive view. Through poetry, teaching, and scripture the author brings the reader to a stepping point where they can decide and think closely about the freedom they have in their life. The author is a strong believer in women having the strength to make wise and important decisions without the woman becoming so formidable that they run everyone over in their path.
Although I am clearly not a targeted reader for this book that doesn't mean that I can't recognize if the book is good or not. And this one is pretty interesting. It is sort of a guidebook for women, precisely Christian women, about life and a place of a women in today's world and themes around that, all looked through religious lens and Bible stories. It is an interesting concept and it is done well. There is a nice balance, the author didn't put too much emphasis on preachy religious advice but also didn't shift so far away that it would be considered something radical and subversive. The view of Adam and Eve myth and the place of women today regarding to that story is intriguing interpretation, and that is just a part of what can be found in this book. I must say I liked it, and I don't think it is restricted only on Christian women. The book is good regardless of the audience it targets and this is a prime example of that.
This book is clearly intended for Christian women who need some guidance on how to empower themselves and how to reclaim their own bodies. However, I think that anybody who is seeking some guidance will benefit form this book. Even Jewish and Muslim ideologies have the story of Adam and Eve if with slight differences. And the role of the women in these two religions is similar. So, taking aside the religious part, this book has some good advice and guidance into thinking for yourself and how to slowly break a cycle of striving to please others while neglecting yourself (I’m certainly guilty of that). This book does not tell you to be mean or spiteful towards others, it just gives you advice in how to carve out time for yourself that you might not have realized you truly need. I found this book to be very interesting and I will certainly be taking some of its advice under consideration.
Zawisz pens a remarkable healing guide in Strong Within: The Christian Woman’s Guidebook for Nurturing Self-Love and Personal Power. This is the first book of this author's that I've read, and I found this to be not only inspiration, but also motivational as well. It gives a grand perspective and I think that even though this is a woman's guide, others (namely men) can benefit from it as well. There is a strength within people that some don't even realize that it's there. I was moved by the experience and counseling of the author and the warmth that is felt throughout the book. The author shares her story and then shares her philosophy of nourishment and empowerment that makes this book a real-deserved read. I look forward to reading more by this author.
A good book! The book is educational and insightful in the sense that takes Eves character and shows it from different angles for the women of today, as an example of woman personal growth. Not to be confused with any exercise or fit body guide, but has research from the author included that can help redefine relationship with body, empower them and keep them mindful for every life challenge and identify strength within for positive impact towards family, society and improve self-esteem. A good book and would just say would have been good if this was focused on all women strength!
