IN 1988, ROGUE ELEMENTS OF THE KGB AND CIA ATTEMPTED TO ASSASSINATE THE SOVIET LEADER. THEY FAILED. AND TODAY, THE FEW WHO KNOW THE TRUTH MUST BE SILENCED.
In 1988, young CIA Agent Leif Morrison stumbles upon an assassination plot while providing security for the Moscow Summit between President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. Unsure of whom he can trust, he takes matters into his own hands and almost dies in the process.
But the plot is foiled, and history unfolds as it should.
Today, those few souls who know the truth of what happened in 1988 begin to turn up dead, and unless they can be stopped, Morrison, now the CIA National Clandestine Service Chief, will die a horrible death to prevent a terrible secret from becoming public.
That members of the CIA and KGB cooperated to prolong the Cold War.
With over one million books sold, award winning and USA Today bestselling author J. Robert Kennedy has been ranked by Amazon as the #1 Bestselling Action Adventure novelist based upon combined sales. He is the author of over fifty international bestsellers including the smash hit James Acton Thrillers. He lives with his wife and daughter and writes full-time.
This story is a spin on a real life murder in London by the KGB (?) . Its pretty fast paced and elusive in capturing my attention towards the authors other writings as I found the plot to be a twist on a real life murder with little imagination on the writers part. I believe it was around chapter six I had it all figured out. The character development was non existent, based on prior books in the series , you're supposed to build them in your mind. Without development, you end up with character assaults since you have no background on them. I, for one, will not bombard myself reading whole series just to build the main characters. Just like a newborn baby being introduced to the world. Build them up otherwise its a flop with me.
A terrific book. Really enjoy how this author will use the past events to tell a story. Great character development that grows with each book. The characters within this book are very relatable and feel real giving you an ability to put yourself deep within the story. Keep up the good work. Started with the James Acton books and now have gone back within the Acton/Kane/Delta universe to catch up before continuing on with book #27 of the Acton series. If you like a good action book involving spies and past events, then you'll enjoy this and other books within this series.
Special Agent Dylan Kane has done it again Fantastic!
I loved State Sanctioned, Mr. Kennedy never ceases to amaze me. The plots, actions and a little humor means he's a great writer and can't wait for the next book. Everything he writes, every novel just grips you and can't put them down.
This was another exciting read from J. Robert Kennedy. He has a way of capturing me from the first pages, taking twists and turns in the story to keep me guessing. His story is relevant to today and the possibilities that can occur, tied to situations in the past. I love these espionage thrillers.
Extremely clever idea of tying in an assassination attempt on Gorbachov and the nerve agent attack in Salisbury. Has the Cold War reared it's head again? The author does not fail to deliver time after time. Spies from the 80s working with Dylan to find out what the truth is. Brilliant!
With the fall of the Soviet Union The East especially Russia is in turmoil and the hardliners in Russia are not happy. Fringe groups are radicalized and the West especially the US is caught in the middle. Things don't to add land and 30 years later it bills over.
Book 8 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The plot and characters have a lot going on. There is a lot of information and trying to figure out information to help the boss. It was interesting reading about the boss when he was younger, even if it was only a short bit of information.
But it was still action packed and it was fun following the clues as to who all was involved in the assignation attempt and if any of the could be saved from being killed.
