Another great book on intercession - this time on how to pray for lost loved ones. Yes I like the tools and the testimonies and the prayers and declarations particularly taking the promises of God and praying that over lost loved ones. The last chapter I really enjoyed very much because some portions really speak to me. For example the whole idea of the seed :- the word is the seed and prayers have power....so we can pray the prayer of a righteous man and then declare His word over the person where we intercede privately. When God gives us words, we can command and God will perform His word. As Dutch was saying of Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones "He wasn't commanding God, He was commanding for God." and the last sentence of the book "God will perform His word.". I have to agree with him because God is under no obligation to perform somebody else's word! Get His word and command His word!
Definitely a helpful book if there are people you love and are praying over. I thought the last chapter was the best, so if you're reading, don't stop. By the end of the book it is clear how best to pray for our loved ones, and how to work with the Holy Spirit on God's plan of salvation.
I have a suggestion for those reading this book or any other by Dutch Sheets. Keep a list of all those Greek and Hebrew words he defines, because you're going to need them to continue understanding what he's writing about. I also highlighted them in the book where he first defined them. Unless, of course, you immediately remember those definitions the first time you're told.
I first read his more well-known book, Intercessory Prayer, with my women's Bible study group. Mid-way we looked at Dutch Sheets' website and discovered he was scheduled to speak at a nearby church, Victory Faith, in Spokane Valley... so our entire group went there for the weekend conference. What a great way to learn more about the book we were reading, and the man who wrote it. While there, I bought this book, How to Pray for Lost Loved Ones.
Dutch Sheets is one of the best teachers and expositors of the Bible I have experienced. His clear insight and in-depth understanding of the Word of God and His nature build our faith, affirm God's omnipotence and love. In this book, he provides a Biblical foundation for praying for the lost and an understanding of the spiritual warfare it requires.
