She’ll always own it. Even though her betrayal sent me into hell in the first place

I did enjoy this second opus of the Cooper Construction Series. Kane and Amanda were good together and their chemistry was off-the-charts. I liked the dynamic couple and how they were with each other. Their story had many turns in a long road, but the act of forgiving and the power of love, was worth the pain and the long wait. The good storyline pulled me right in from the very beginning and the well rounded characters kept me totally enthralled from the first page until the last!

Let's start off by saying that this author is new to us and we have to say that we really enjoying this new series that is turning out to be a awesome series for us.

We really enjoyed the story as it was one of those stories that keeps you on edge the entire time as you never know what is going to happen around the corner. We really loved almost all the character's in this current story especially all those mysterious hot construction guys .The sick ones well-"I wanted to be planning their deaths right along him!" lol

Kane was my favorite character this time around as he had so many sides to him and always kept you wondering one how he never broke for all he has had to endure and two how could this dark and dangerous man just melt when in the presence of Amanda.

"It was rather sweet!"

One thing about Kane even with all the darkness within him he had lines even he would never cross and that just made him all the more endearing to us.

When you first meet this couple they come off as one of those couples who have one of those love/hate relationships or so you think but, all I saw was a mountain of pain.

I found Kane to be sexy as sin, tall, dark, dangerous, deadly, possessive,

protective yet compassionate, had a conscience even with all the bad deeds he has done, loved the sacrifices he made for the sake of his brothers and family but, most of all you could not help but love the broken man.

"Definitely a man you want at your back!"

Amanda ends up being Kane's one bright star in his very dark world.Amanda we loved her from the onset of the story from the moment she dropped by the construction site throwing around her sass.We found Amanda to be loving and caring and a little bit of a rebel, was fiery as well as sassy but, we loved the lengths she went to make sure the love of her life was protected and safe and she was willing to walk away from the love of her life just to do that and live only with a half of a heart because she left the other half behind her when she left.

We loved this forbidden romance between Kane and Amanda and the struggles they dealt with trying to navigate two worlds. We loved that once Kane learned what secrets Amanda had been keeping come to light that they were willing to face the consequences and throw caution to the wind and just see where the chips may fall.I loved that they were taking back the life that they should have had together after so many miserable years apart.

We loved this story from cover to cover it was intriguing suspenseful that kept you engrossed and turning the pages the entire time.We love the drama that the story brought and all the betrayals and the secrets that unfolded throughout it.I will say that this story had more then a couple of OMG ! moments that we never saw coming. We loved that Kane was willing to make the sacrifices this time around in order to keep hold of the women he could not longer live without. One thing I found so endearing was that the fact that this couples love stood the test of time and when they reunited it was like all those years between them had never been there in the first place.

The romance between both of Kane and Amanda was precious and sweet but, the heart wants what the heart wants and Amanda wants the tall dark and dangerous broken man and nothing will stand in her way to get him back .Are the consequence of their love worth the risk to both of them?

We loved how the story played out but, rest assured that Kane will use all that is in his arsenal to protect the thing he cannot live without...

Oh my dear lord... I'm so happy right now... Wanna know why? Because I have a new book.
And guess the genre??? It's an MC book... Hell yeah...
Has you could already realize I'm addicted to MC books. I've read my share fare of them and I can't get enough.
Jen Davis has started a series that had the ability to grab my attention and after that I only want more.
Her writing is raw and intense, wild and dark with so much between each chapter.
Kane is her latest release and it's the second book from the Cooper Construction Series.
I totally advise you to read Brick first. You'll see why...
This new book explores the lifes of Kane and Amanda.
Kane might look the powerful man he his now but his past almost destroyed him. Thanks to his brothers, the Skulls MC, his life became better and he could heal. But you know that the past might come back to bite you in the arse...
Amanda works with her brother at Cooper Constructions. On the outside she looks like a bit*** but that's just for show. She had lost some part of her heart thirteen years ago and now it's hard to show her true colors. One blast from the past appears and...
OMG I'm so happy.. This book just made me so happy...
Perfect plot, super engaging, intense and surrounded with a cloud of danger and darkness. I'm so glad for the chance to read this book.
The chemistry the main characters share is do strong and beautiful that it doesn't matter the danger lurking behind the shadows.
There were danger alright but there was also love and desire...
Crime, punishment, betrayal were very present as well as love, family bonds and loyalty.
It was amazing to testify the growth of the characters as well the chance to see them before and after. I wouldn't change a thing but I sure as hell would write more about them.
What can I say... I'm a greedy girl.
Jen this series is getting great so much better and I can't wait for the next book.
There will be a next one right?

WOW I loved Kane it is the second book of Cooper Construction but you can read this as a standalone you might run into a minor spoiler and characters from Brick do make an appearance which made me happy cause I love seeing familiar faces . This is a second chance romance that had me hooked from the start I wanted to know why the characters were separated and when we do WOW . We get flashbacks of the couple through out their relationship and what they are doing now . Kane super sexy hero that had my heart the entire book the way he is with the heroine oh my can you say hot hot hot and the tattoo THE FLIPPING TATTOO just had my heart fill with warmth . I really didn't know how to feel about Amanda at first she comes a crossed as weak but icy when need be , once we get into why she did what she did I applaud her while also wanting to hurt the ones to drive her into a selfless act . When these two get together wow Fire works there is some bumps in the road some really sad and powerful ones at that but together they could concur everything . I can't wait to see what's to come in cooper construction I'm excited to read more by Jen Davis .

I adore second chance romance. The familiarity that the couple has, hidden behind new barriers caused by whatever broke them up. In this second book about the men who work for Cooper Construction, Kane is such a lovable hero. He's rough and ready, and a member of a motorcycle club. It's a family connection but one that causes him no end of strife.

He never forgot Mandy, and the love they'd shared.

Amanda is a businesswoman now, and sharp. She has plans and is going places, but she never truly got over Kane. When she shows up on his construction site, their startling chemistry makes sparks fly.

This is dark romance so bad things happen, but Kane and Amanda get their HEA in the end. It's a rocky, twisty road - excellent plotting is Davis' strength - but I loved every minute of it.

Kane and Amanda thought they had it all a love that could withstand anything then it all came crashing down and now 13 years later she is in his life as one of his bosses and he knows he doesn't belong in her world and she doesn't like his but they both still love each other .
This book holy cow , the twists and turns are awesome.
Finding out why is so shocking but the way that Jen Davis tells this story keeps you reading and turning pages just to keep this couples story going.
I can not wait for more from this series and author

Kane (Cooper Construction #2) by Jen Davis
4.5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Domestic Abuse, Blackmail
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the second book in the series and I really enjoyed it and felt that it carried a good theme through from the first book.

Kane is living a life he never truly wanted. But, when things in his life went out of his control, he had no choice but to become the person he never really wanted to be. When his first and only loves comes back in to his life, Kane has difficulty keeping her in the back of his mind, like he has been doing for years.

Amanda knows that she should be living a different life. What was taken from her by people around her is horrific and terrible. However, Amanda hasn't gotten this far in life without learning a few tricks herself. Despite feeling the same pull that she always has towards Kane, she knows that he comes first.

Kane and Amanda's past is very prominent in this book through flashbacks. I think that it really helped shape the story and their future. It was nice being able to see them before and them now. Their chemistry was still there and despite their family issues, they still love each other. I really enjoyed watching this story unfold and hope more are to come.

description
The second installment of Cooper Construction gives us more action, more mystery, and another fantastic love story. After years apart, Kane and Amanda have a second chance at love. Their story was full of heartbreak, betrayal, love, and passion.

I knew that Kane was part of an MC but I didn’t realize just how involved. I struggle with the MC sub-genre and this book included many of the aspects that I have difficulty with. While this did take away from enjoyment of the book for me, it was purely due to my taste in content, not the author’s writing or storytelling.

Despite all of that, I still couldn’t put this one down! I was completely enthralled by Kane and Mandy. I enjoy the way Davis tells her stories. The characters, their interactions, the friend/family dynamics, I love it! The overall mystery was exciting and really pulled me in. So many pieces of the puzzle and surprises thrown our way. I’m really loving this series and I can’t wait for more.

Kane has reluctantly embraced the MC life he never wanted after getting his heart broken by Amanda. Now that he works for her, he knows she will always be the love of his life, but thirteen years later neither of them are the same people they were as college sweethearts. Events - along with greedy, manipulative fathers - have changed their lives in ways neither of them ever imagined, and, when secrets are revealed, the outcome is explosive.

An excellent second book in the Cooper Construction series by Jen Davis, a talented author who excels in writing multi-layered characters with complicated, messy, and unforgettable lives. Definitely looking forward to more from this author.

Kane and Amanda thought they would be together forever, unfortunately, that didn't happen, and now, neither are happy with their lives as they stand. Kane is now part of the family MC that he never wanted any part of, only hooking up with women when he needed to, with anger still in his heart about the way Amanda left him. And Amanda is her powerful father's patsy, while trying to keep her & her brother's business afloat. It's been 13 years since they actually had any conversations, but something tipped Amanda off, and she never stopped loving Kane, so she is willing to bite the bullet to warn him. This starts them back on a journey to each other, but there's danger around every corner, so will they ever have a second chance at love? This story kept me on the edge of my seat cover to cover, because there's always something big as to why people in love suddenly leave, and the amazing Jen Davis held her cards close to the vest before revealing that reason. I know Kane's anguish was palpable the whole time, even though it was covered by lots of anger, even with the passage of time, so I definitely hurt for him. And it wasn't like Amanda went on to be blissfully happy either. It made for some intense f-bomb worthy twists, as they kept coming all the way to the end, so my mouth was straight up filthy as the hits kept flying at my face. So yeah, this story was another great one in the Copper Construction series that I'm fully invested in, and I CANNOT WAIT for more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I'm going to start by saying that I'm generally not a fan of MC romances (that's all on me, btw. I'm not a fan of the way women are treated in the clubs for the most part and can't put those feelings aside.) BUUUUTTTTT...I liked Kane so much in book 1 I was willing to give his story a try.

BOY, am I glad I did. Kane might be part of an MC, but he's very much his own man. He's still loyal to his brothers and his blood family, but he ultimately chooses a path that keep him and his lady safe. For the most part. There's definitely a fair amount of danger for both of them, AS ONE WOULD EXPECT, but they're there for one another in the end.

So. Amanda and Kane. They had a thing in the past and circumstances pulled them away from one another for a long time. Once they start talking, however, and the truth comes out, they start working on that redemption thing. Redemption for both of them, if you want to look at it that way.

For Kane, his motorcycle riding brothers are taking the club on a path he can see won't end well. For Amanda, she's agreed to a devil's bargain with her father and she's in a tough situation.

Their road to being together isn't easy, but it's well worth it in the end. Sometimes the one you fall for first is the one that you can never forget. In this case, that's a good thing.

OMG WTF DID I JUST READ!!!!!!!!!! Jen you have knocked it out the park with this one! Another hit and I can't wait for more. Kane and Amanda are an amazing story that unfolded piece by piece and it was a slow burn not a fast one that had me on the edge of my seat wanting no needing to know what the hell was going to happen next.

Kane is on the job working when he looks up and sees the love of his life in person not a ghost not a dream he has made up but in the flesh. To say that threw him for a loop is an understatement. He can't believe his eyes and eras but it is her, the one who broke his heart and walked away. The girl who haunts his dreams.

When Amanda is on the job site she sees the last person she ever thought she would see Kane. The love of her life but he is different, it has been over 13 years that she has seen him and he looks different. She knows she has changed but she wants to know how much he has changed and when she finds out he is a member of an MC she wants nothing to do with him. But Kane is determined not to let her go and he will do whatever it takes to get her back and keep her.

This is a must read series so go on and one click it and enjoy the ride!

I was so excited to see what Jen did with Kane and Amanda’s story! I really enjoyed the background she provided in the first Cooper Construction story and was anticipating the release of Kane’s book. Amanda and Kane had an intense relationship in college that ended due to Amanda’s father using blackmail for his non-friendly business and personal tactics. Neither Kane nor Amanda know what happened to cause their relationship to end and after twelve years they end up having a conversation and putting everything into the open. After they decide they can no longer stay apart, they start a secret relationship as to protect each other from both fathers, but there are some twists and turns that come out and surprise everyone. This book was so suspenseful and intense and not the typical story you have when including a MC – I was intrigued and could not put it down! Definitely eager to see who's next from the crew!

I really wanted to love this book but I didn’t. It was good and I did enjoyed it but not like the first.
It started of ok. but I found the whole story to be a little choppy. We’d be getting to a really good bit and then go back to another time, back and forth, back and forth, (not a fan of time shifting). I liked Kane but I felt Mandy’s character wasn’t really developed properly, she was strong one minute and confused the next, her relationship with her family wasn’t explained well.
This is a second chance romance, I felt the explanations for their split and then getting together again were a little weak and under developed, not much of a plot. But it’s an ok. read and it has an handsome alpha stud to drool over.
I’m looking forward to more Cooper Construction, I wonder who it will be?

This is the first book by this author I've read and I'm still note quite sure what I think of it. I enjoyed parts of the book but there were other parts where I was just like WTF.

Let me start by saying I've read a number of MC books so I definitely have no issues with this sub genre.

I found Amanda to be immature at times and motivated by nothing more than Daddy's money which is ironic because she blames her father for using her for his own agenda when she's doing the same thing. The whole thing with Nathan really bothered me. There were tons of other ways that she could have explored to obtain the money she needed for the business.

I liked Kane's character and his struggle between his family and the MC lifestyle.

The epilogue fell flat to me as well, though the climax at the end was pretty good.

Another story about some sort of redemption, bur this time working to figure out who your true friends and family are. This was an okay story but I didn't like it as much as Brick's book... mostly because I really didn't like Amanda. She had zero redeming qualities. No matter what she did, I could not get on board with her. I hated her attitude, how stupid and naïve she was.. She constantly did things and made decisions that made zero sense. I just didn't like her at all so it made this really difficult to read. I liked Kane a lot, but for the life of me could not figure out what it was about Amanda he loved so much.

So, this was a big "meh" for me.

Kane by Jen Davis is book 2 in the Cooper Construction Series. This is the story of Kane and Amanda. I have read the previous book and feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Kane and Amanda were once in love thinking they had everything but then people around them turned them apart with lies and misunderstandings. Now 13 years later they find themselves together with her being one of his bosses..but different people. Neither thought their lives would turn out this way and dance around their feelings and past...until they can't anymore. Loved this second chance at love.

You meet Kane in the first book. I knew his character was going to be intense. This storyline proved that. Mandy walked away from him a long time ago thinking she was protecting him. But now he is all she needs to be strong and get away from her father. Kane is dealing with a lot but Mandy is always there to help. But will someone tear them apart and take their future once again? Loved it. Intense interesting gripping a shocking moment you definitely didn't expect. But Jen made this book freaking amazing. I absolutely loved Kane . Hoping for more from these guys. Highly recommend.

Amanda has never stopped wanting Kane, but her father is still controlling her, she never told Kane the truth why she left him and doesn’t know if she ever can, nothing has changed, but her brother tells her it’s time to stop keeping secrets, but she knows she can’t. The problem was, since her brother’s accident she had to see more of him, dealing with everything about the business.
Kane knew Amanda was his one weakness but she threw him away and ripped out his heart years ago, it doesn’t stop the way he feels when his near her, or the confusion when he can see how see feels, but he has to focus on the club and the decisions he’s brothers are making that don’t sit right with him.
Kane hasn’t any idea why Amanda would want to talk to him, but when she does, he never expected her to tell her what she did. The way she looks at him with sorrow in her eyes he wants to take it away like he used to, and when their lips touched, he felt like he was home, he thought they could have what they did, but he needed to know what went wrong.
Everything felt right with Kane, but she knew she had to be honest with him, and she had to deal with everything for them to make it work this time, and not let anything come between them again.
Can they work through the lies and manipulation that keep them apart to get their second chance.

REVIEW: KANE is the second instalment in Jen Davis’ contemporary, adult COOPER CONSTRUCTION erotic, romance series focusing on the men who work for Cooper Construction. This is thirty-two year old, MC member and construction worker Kane Hale, and business woman Amanda Griffin-Cooper’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Amanda and Kane) using present day and memories from the past, KANE follows several intersecting paths but the primary focus is on the rekindling relationship and romance between thirty-two year old, MC member and construction worker Kane Hale, and business woman Amanda Griffin-Cooper. Thirteen years earlier Kane Hale’s life spiralled out of control when the woman he loved walked out of his life in the wake of a devastating fire, secrets and lies meant to destroy what was and what would never be. Rejecting his father’s demands to join the Skull’s MC, Kane will eventually succumb and pursue the life of a outlaw as he struggles with the heart breaking loss of Amanda Griffin. Fast forward to present day wherein Amanda, now co-owner of Cooper Construction, comes face to face with her past, a past she will never forget or forgive herself for walking away. What ensues is the second chance romance between Amanda and Kane; the Skulls MC battle to take control of Sucre de la Cruz’s territory; Kane’s continuing personal battle with the MC life; and the potential fall-out as secrets and betrayal come to the surface forcing Kane and Amanda to reconsider their future together.

The Skull’s MC, with the insistence of Kane’s brother Scott, is determined to control the drug trade in Atlanta City by taking over the territory once owned by Sucre de la Cruz. Kane’s reluctance to participate places him at odds with his father’s MC, but the biggest threat comes from the Russian Mob. As Amanda struggles to come up with the finances for a new construction phase, her father continues to push Amanda towards a future with a violent man who is more than willing to control our heroine with more than promises and threats.

The relationship between Amanda and Kane is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people destroyed by family, power, control and manipulation. Amanda struggles with the guilt of walking away but walking away was the only choice to protect the man with whom she had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Amanda’s father Mayor Beau Griffin; her half-brother Michael Cooper (co-owner of Cooper Construction) and his wife Cindy : Kane’s brother Scott, their his father Malcolm and their mother Vivian Hale, several members of the Skulls MC, as well as the return of Brick and Liv (Brick #1), Robby, Matt and Cyrus. The requisite evil has many faces including Amanda’s soon to be ex- Nathan Shaw.

KANE is a story of fractured family dynamics; of power, greed, and politics; of forgiveness, revelations, redemption and beginning anew. The premise is thought provoking and intriguing; the romance is provocative and heart warming; the characters are edgy, spirited and energetic. KANE is an animated, fast paced and dramatic tale about the hunger for power, and the resulting ramifications on the way to the top.

I picked up and put down this book so many times I lost count. The substance is there but it’s so drawn out that I became bored. I found myself skimming because I just wanted to get to some action or something meaningful.

Kane - I didn’t understand him. Just because someone was there for you through a breakup means u can excuse all the things you hate?

Amanda - backbone, glad she finally got one!!!!

Brick - love him!!!!!!!!

Evan - very curious about that one!

Cyrus - mysterious and I want to know more

Robby and Matt - what the heck is gonna happen there???

This is the second book I have read from this author and I kind of feel like I did with the first book in the series.

Kane starts off a bit on the slower side, but there is a decent amount of action and drama and the ending is really good. It's just getting to the mid point of the book that could maybe use some better execution.

This was a second chance romance with lots of drama thrown in. It alternated between the past and the present throughout the book. Overall, I enjoyed the characters and the ending, but struggled somewhat with the beginning of the story.

Guys, this series is one that you need to devour for yourselves so that you fully understand the epicness of each book. Holy. Hell. Jen Davis is an author you NEED to read, an author you should totally stalk, LOL!! Her words are gold and pure magic.

Kane was one of the secondary characters we met in Brick, but he was just as important as the main characters. I KNEW his story would be amazing, but Jen Davis still managed to blow my mind. Kane's story was intense and one that had me feeling like I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Kane was in DEEP. He was living the life he never wanted for himself and one he swore he'd never experience. But of course, things don't always go as we plan, but for Kane, it went beyond that. Manipulation and deceit played a HUGE role in eh-vree-thing.

Nothing was as it seemed and Kane needed to make people pay. He and Mandy had been pawns in a larger scheme that unfolded along the way, and now, they needed a second chance. They deserved it, and man, I was rooting for them HARD from the very beginning.

I LOVED SO SO SO MUCH that we got glimpses of Kane and Mandy before everything went south. We got to see how much they loved each other, how it all started, and as I said, I was rooting for them to make it out, not just alive, but together.

It was a huge plus to see all the characters once more and how their stories are progressing too. So yes, while this book focuses on Kane and Mandy, I recommend you also read Brick because...why not? Trust me, you need to read anything Jen Davis writes!

FIVE STARS and a TOP REC!

Kane is the second novel in Jen Davis' Cooper Construction series and since I absolutely loved the first novel in this series, Brick, I couldn't wait to read this one, but Brick was a great read and a hard act to follow, and I simply didn't think this novel was as good, as well-paced, as cohesive, as easy to follow, or as gripping as book one, but despite all that, I give it a 4-star rating.

As the novel opens we first meet Amanda, daughter of the mayor, and the man she is seeing at her father's insistence, Nathan. Her father wants to run for governor, and Nathan is well-connected, but he's also rude, ill-tempered, possessive and both verbally and physically abusive, and that's the first of the triggers I need to warn you about. When Amanda tells her father about the abuse, he brushes it off--Amanda, who has been manipulated by her father for years, is his bargaining chip, and her father doesn't care what Nathan does to her and long as he has access to Nathan's connections. Nathan is also sexually abusive, and Amanda's near-rape is another trigger I need to warn you about.

We soon meet Kane, 13 years in the past, the first of many such time-jumps in this novel. He's got real goals, a career in finance he's pursuing in college, andis totally in love with Amanda (Mandy). But Mandy is aware that Kane's father, Malcolm, is president of the Skulls MC, involved in illegal activities, as are many motorcycle clubs, and Mandy knows that Kane's father is pushing him to patch in, i.e. join the Skulls MC. Kane hates everything about the MC, and blames it for his messed-up childhood. He hates the way his father treats and cheats on his mother, the way members use and abuse women, and their involvement in criminal activities, and he assures Mandy that the last thing he wants to do is to live that life. Kane's brother, Scott, is a member of the MC, and when Kane asks for a lift so he can buy an engagement ring for Mandy, Scott agrees to take him there, but en route, Scott has one stop to make--it's at a drug den, and where there are drugs, there's violence, and plenty of it. After Kane is injured and unconscious, he wakes up in a hospital with Mandy at his bedside, and what the violence he experienced didn't do, Mandy does--she breaks up with him, severs all connections with him, tells him not to contact her or try to see her, and leaves Kane heartbroken and alone. What Kane doesn't know is why she won't even let him explain, and Ms. Davis takes a good long while to tell us why Mandy is being blackmailed by her own father to end her relationship with Kane, the love of her life, and she too is heartbroken, but feels that the only way to save Kane is to end their relationship.

With his world in shambles, Kane is bitter and alone, and he finally does patch in to the Skulls MC, but still hates everything about it. Meanwhile, Amanda's father helps bankroll the start-up of Cooper Construction, the company that Amanda's stepfather started and which she co-owns, and which also employs both Kane, and Brick, who now lives happily with Olivia, the woman he fell in love with in the first novel in the series. But Amanda's father only gives her half of the money she needs, extracting her promise to be Nathan's arm candy for the next six months.

Meanwhile, Kane's father and brother want to do something more illegal and more dangerous than what they have been doing, moving guns for the Russian mob. Due to the death of Sucre de la Cruz in the previous novel, they have a chance to take over the drug trade in their community, and no matter how much Kane tries to talk them out of it, he's out-voted, and while it's easy to see that this move isn't going to go well for the MC or Kane, it's the secrets and motives behind these decisions that fuel the drama and violence prevalent in the rest of the novel.

While Mandy and Kane try to reconnect and get their second chance at love, neither character is being entirely honest with the other, nor are the other people in their lives being open and honest with them, and through a series of complicated flashbacks, we slowly learn how and why they made and are continuing to make the decisions that have so negatively affected both their lives. Mandy hates her father for manipulating her into an abusive relationship, and for blackmailing her into doing what he wants her to do--but she doesn't know the half of it, and kudos to Ms. Davis for keeping Mandy and this reader in the dark to the very end.

This is a very violent novel, with many triggers, so be prepared, and the number of flashbacks are many, further complicating things and making the pacing a bit choppy. It was hard not to like Kane and Amanda and their explosive chemistry, although their motivations for why they make the choices they do are confusing and not readily apparent until you are well into their story.

Will Kane finally be able to finally get his long-awaited second chance with Amanda? Will he remain loyal to the MC which came to his aid when Amanda dumped him 13 years earlier? Will Amanda be willing to get back with Kane despite his club affiliation? What about Nathan, who is both violent, jealous, and possessive of Amanda? Will Nathan slink off into the sunset? Will Amanda's father continue to manipulate her into doing whatever he wants? Will he ever allow her to find happiness with Kane? What will happen when the MC gets into the drug business? These are some of the questions that kept me reading until the wee hours of the morning, and while Ms. Davis is a very good storyteller, some of the answers to these questions are a long time coming, and while I would have preferred fewer flashbacks, it was still an engrossing read, and, if the aforementioned triggers don't turn your off, I think you'll find this an exciting read as well, but I do suggest reading Brick, the first novel in this series before reading this one.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

I couldn't resist starting this, the second on the Cooper Construction series, after finishing book one; Brick. Although this second book is about a different couple, Kane and Amanda, it still has the same characters as appeared in book one. It also gives a little glimpse at some of the members of the Cooper Construction team that we didn't meet in the first book.
This is the story of Amanda and Kane. In their early 20's they were in love and expected to spend the rest of their life together. Until something, or someone came between them. It isn't clear, to begin with, what it was that caused them to split up, but as the book progresses, their past is explained.
I enjoyed the chemistry between the two main characters, that they had been together once was believable and for the most part, the reason that they split up worked. Particularly as it didn't present an insurmountable barrier to them being together once more.
Like the first book in the series, there is a very dark element to these books. This time Kane is part of a motorcycle gang. While he doesn't particularly enjoy much of their activity, he is tied up in that world and has to deal with it in order to allow he and Amanda to get together. Amanda's father is also an 'interesting character' and lives a somewhat shady life.
These first two books have been a great start to a new series and I'm looking forward to seeing what book three will bring, as well as finding out who's story it has to tell.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Picking up the pieces after the end of book 1 of the series, as in literally picking up body parts, Kane is not for everyone. There is a very clever structure at place. Who doesn’t want to know more about a construction company full of super hot, alpha males with mysterious pasts? The Enforcer for a crime boss was first up, perhaps the ex-special ops soldier, or the silent guy with a family secret may be next. This time, however, is the bikie who never wanted to be.

Kane never wanted to join his family in the MC. He wanted a life, and a family, and he wanted it with Amanda. The same Amanda who now runs the construction company he works for. Of course Amanda never wanted to be living a socialite life at the beck and call of her cold hearted father. She never wanted to be blackmailed into socialising with a man her father wants a favour from. All she wants now is to save her step-brothers construction company no matter the price. Even if it means being at the mercy of her fathers whims. Even if it means having to spend time with the only man she’s ever really loved, Kane.

Kane and Amanda were torn apart by lies, betrayal, and family obligations, but they get a second chance to find each other. Although they are going to have to wade through an ocean of blood and hurt to get there.

For many people this book is going to be too much. Not every romance reader is going to want a book that needs to come with trigger warnings. I have to admit that I needed to skip passed a few of the more brutal parts. However, the kind of readers who loved Sons of Anarchy, or who thought that Jamie Macguire’s Beautiful Disaster was tame are going to love this one.

For me, although I like an alpha male, I need a little less violence. 2.5 stars

Kane by Jen Davis was an amazing story and is the second book in the Cooper construction series. It is possible to read as a stand-alone but I wouldn’t recommend it as there are spoilers from Brick’s story in book one. This is a second chance romance and an MC book. I’m swooning.

Kane and Amanda met years ago and they fell in love. Only they came from different sides of the tracks as the saying goes. She was the mayor’s daughter. He was the son of an MC president.

When things go awry on the day that Kane planned to ask Amanda the life-changing question, and chose her over the MC, Amanda must leave Kane behind and move on with her life. She believes she’s saving him from her father's wrath.

Fast-forward to thirteen years later, he’s in his father’s MC but works for Cooper Construction as his day job. Amanda and her brother own and run Cooper Construction. Luckily Kane is able to avoid her most of the time. If it’s known she plans on coming to the job site, he switches and works at a different site. Until one day she makes a surprise visit to see the job foreman and they awkwardly run into each other.

Will they try again to make the relationship work? Will they be able to jump all the obstacles in their way?

You should definitely read the Cooper Construction series by Jen Davis. It’s action-packed and there's never a dull moment, that’s for sure!! Jen Davis does a great job showing all sides. She bounced between Kane and Amanda’s POV. Jen Davis did a wonderful job showing what they were feeling in each situation. I will definitely be reading the next book!

This was an amazing book about a young woman (Amanda) who loved Kane, a construction worker who had been a college student when they first met 13 years before the start of the story. Amanda's father did not like Kane right from the start and manipulated events so that Kane was at the scene of a drug deal gone bad and an arson attack that killed more than 20 people. Amanda's father had arranged for a video to be made and a crooked cop to be willing to testify that Kane had been involved in the crimes. Her father threatened to have Kane locked up for life if Amanda did not break up with him. 13 years later, Kane has joined his father's MC club and is actually committing crimes now, when Amanda runs into him again. Their love for each other has never died but they become involved in events from people who threaten them from all sides: her father (now a mayor), his father, an enemy MC, some Russian criminals, the boyfriend Amanda's father made her date, and probably more! The big questions are: Can Kane leave the MC to be with Amanda again once he understood the events of the past? Can Amanda break free of her father's manipulations? And there are even more questions to answer. The author makes impressive use of flashbacks to make events from the past and the present clear, and to show that these events have all worked together to keep Amanda and Kane apart. This is one book that made me think there was no possible way for the lovers to reach an HEA, but more events occur that make anything seem possible. I highly recommend this book!
