An interesting account of Ingvar's life and the development of IKEA. It reads as Ingvar's account of history, with some remarkable stories and humble bragging. Even though the author has a background in journalism and economics, the book lacks a critical view on those fond memories. Let's not forget that underneath the Smaland charm, there's a multinational company which affects the life of the many, in many ways. Still, the book offers insights into how the Ikea concept came to be as we know it today.
It is worth reading. One can take several valuable inputs / learn about important principles from the book and it is not boring. However, I have one critical point and one wish. The critical point is that the author is significantly biased towards the IKEA's founder in a positive way. That makes me doubt, whether things are described objectively. I am interested about facts. That is the reason for one star less in my review. My wish would be that the book goes more into details. It is a decent overview, but it just touches the surface. I would be interested in more details and the working behind the various developments.
Surely a very positive book on Ingvar and Ikea, but at the same time it provides lots of good insights from one of the most succesfull companies and its founder
