Belief in God is clearly the preferred road to sobriety in A.A., despite a few Big Book disclaimers to the contrary. A.A.’s God doctrine often creates problems for non-Christians, atheists, agnostics and humanists, and has been critically addressed in my two other Daily A.A. for Atheists & Agnostics and Design For Daily Meditations on the 12 Steps of A.A. for Atheists & Agnostics.
