It’s hardly a fair race when you’re racing against time.
The Fangs and I have the answers we were looking for, but for me those answers come with a death sentence. But I’ll be damned if I got out easy. I’ll be damned if I go out before I can see our mission through.
Just as I’m coming to terms with my fate, hope drops into my lap like a succulent fruit. But hope can be deceptive, and I’m not one for putting all my eggs into one basket. The mission must remain my focus, but with obstacles stacking up, getting to the finish line may just take some divine intervention, but the cost…The cost might be more than I’m willing to pay.
Debbie Cassidy lives in England, Bedfordshire, with her three kids and very supportive husband. Coffee and chocolate biscuits are her writing fuels of choice, and she is still working on getting that perfect tower of solitude built in her back garden. Obsessed with building new worlds and reading about them, she spends her spare time daydreaming and conversing with the characters in her head. She writes Urban Fantasy, Romance, Fantasy and Reverse Harem Fantasy. All her books contain plenty of action, romance and twisty plots.
1.5 stars. Debbie Cassidy doesn't know how to write endings. Based on the two series I've read by her, that's my conclusion.
This final book in the For the Blood trilogy was a clusterfuck of new lovers, monsters, and deus ex machinas, thrown together with little to no connective plot tissue. The heroine gains every superspecial superpower under the sun and acquires like three new boyfriends, all of whom melt together and do not matter. It all felt anti-climactic in the most confused and irritating way.
Debbie's a decently high-profile author in this niche genre, so I don't understand why she can't hire a proper editor. Punctuation errors were everywhere, and the tense switched from past to present multiple times within the same chapter.
But I haven't read her more recent stuff, so maybe she's improved.
4.5 stars This series is a sprint and not a marathon
I thought I knew where this was going...Eh nope I really didn't
I was just mildly enjoying this race to the finish line then bam the game changed! And it really stepped it up!
Eva has always been a little badass but the Eva we see here is like a Mutant X Deadpool of abilities and she's getting stronger as well as weaker. Shes on a countdown to the end and the urgency really comes across. The whole series had a fast forward 100 miles an hour feel
[image error]
which I'm not saying is a bad thing. At least we didn't have things dragged out over way to many chapters. But some more detail, longer books and would have made the experience more enjoyable. It was really short and intense. I got very emotional at a few moments
So forgot all your preconceived notions, I couldn't predict what was going to happen. And we had a little crossover into one of Debbies other world which had me geeking out a little!
Some things I would take away but also some things expanded (namely a particular dream that I would like re-written with 10 extra pages please) I am appeased by the promise of a novella to come which when you read the end I hope you'll agree is needed! We need more of these guys and Eva.
Well i did not get into this one bit. I'm lost at what i just read. this was so different from the first two. It was almost like book 1 and 2 builds one world, one set of relationships then this book was like nah. Lets throw some sparkles and mix things up. it was bam bam bam with everything and you got whip lash trying to keep up.
Well first thing I’ll say is is this book had a shit ending. Not only that but almost the whole book was rushed and forced, times like sex the only parts truly expanded on. But wtf was that ending.... all this to save Tobias and then she ends up having to kill him, are you kidding me?!? Plus bam she’s dead after imploding, reincarnated as a God and will have to give up all her guys and go live in the Fae realm. I’m really disappointed by the abrupt end and how quick everything was wrapped up. Last minute Jace becomes one of her guys and yet Noah will stay behind, umm ok?! She’s ready to leave them all as her ‘Power’ as the Hunt will inevitably overtake all her emotion but at the last minute they tell her they’re tagging along and suddenly she believes they can work through it 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️🤷🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️ What about Benji? What about Jamie? Hell what about the world now that the cure has been dispersed? Most of her relationships between her and the guys are only mildly developed. I know there’s another short novella after this but as the last book in the series I’m totally letdown.

This entire series probably could have been rolled into one (longer) book. When I started: Blammo! I was hooked. There was an exciting premise, instant-action, and we were inside Eva's head (feeling all her feelings) as she navigated escaping Ferals and Claws and generally just tried to survive. This is where Debbie Cassidy excels as a writer. In all of her books, she is an efficient writer who gives just enough information to get us into the action or dialogue but not too much that it bogs us down. However (and isn't there always one of those?), I felt this efficiency failed the plot toward the latter book. We moved through twist after twist, turn after turn, at such a fast pace that it really did the plot a disservice. Similarly, Eva's relationships went from distrustful to reluctant attraction to mate-status/love within a week. I could kinda-sorta forgive it, extrapolating that in an intense "run for your lives" type setting, every day was sort of a #YOLO mentality. But it became pretty unbelievable (even within this dystopian-fantasy reverse-harem story) as the story went on and Eva collected mates like Pokemon cards.
That being said, if you just breeze through the books, they are pretty enjoyable and hot. I wouldn't put too much thought into the mechanics of the plot (see above) or the love stories. Just relax, grab yourself a glass of (insert preferred beverage), and let yourself be taken away by DC's world building.
So much happened in this series and it stepped outside of the typical troupe form allowing for unpredictable storytelling which may be what I liked the most. I do have to say Now I really have to read the 4th book which to my understanding is an extra-long epilogue, so I can find out how things work out for them.
Update: After a day of thinking about this book, I started to notice how unsatisfied I was with the way things wrapped up. The story line for book 3 took off at a break neck speed and the answers came to the FMC in the most random off script ways. I liked it at first because it was a surprise, something I never saw coming. Now I feel like the author got bored writing this series and thought up some arbitrary magical solution to everyone's problems in order to conclude the series quickly. That magical solution came completely out of left field, no one saw it coming because it didn't belong in this series.
The relationships in the harem were all left unresolved or didn't come to fruition. {Major spoiler ahead! Includes final chapter info about the guys}
You sold us a romance novel. Romance novels get a 'Happily Ever After' not 'Happy For Now Giant Question Mark'!
Tsk. Tsk. The way the author did this was downright infuriating. I was heavily convinced for most of this book that Jace and Noah were a waste of character space. And let’s be honest: We all knew what was going to happen to Tobias And Noah’s declaration damn near broke my heart. I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU HUN What we got was a mix of love stories within the harem. (It wasn’t actually seven men but the potential was there) She is still learning to love Elias. Jace made his intentions known like, way late.
CAN WE NOT HAVE A FLUID, SOLID, harem family?? I mean c’mon authors don’t y’all see what we crave? CONNECTION, and orgies. Jk, I actually don’t like group orgies in RH when it’s a lot of dudes. Things get very confusing if it’s not written well. It’s like trying to maneuver a round-about with 3 lanes.
WHO DOES THAT ANYWAY?
Moving on. I loved this series, I did. The levels of complication within the harem were an annoying but nice touch. The plot was good. Kinda loved the The Walking Dead vibes. I saw no Vamp Diaries references?
What book 3 lacked was a bit of emotion with what happened with Tobias. As well as the face off with Malcolm.
It did feel rushed and poorly executed.
But alas, here we are with a novella being released. Will I read it? Yes, I’m curious. Jace didn’t get any hanky panky time with Eva in this series so I assume that’s one of the main reasons for the novella. Oh and The Hunt sounds interesting. Including Caister but I think I’m reading too much into that.
Or who knows, maybe she truly does have great hair. Being a god and all. Whatever. I guess a good blow out really does help a lady out.
So long Eva with the good hair and your men. Maybe try to love Elias? Idk, he seems super hot. Silver hair and all.
4.5. Fantastic ending to the series and Eva kicks some serious ass here!
Debbie Cassidy is the Queen of Urban Fantasy Reverse Harem, as far as I'm concerned and I love the complexity and depth of the worlds she creates and how they are all interlinked across her different series'. It boggles my mind, quite frankly!!!
She writes brilliantly strong and likeable female leads, with diverse and interesting males, and Eva and her guys are no different.
I don't want to give away spoilers, but this is a brilliant final installment, with non-stop actions and some real twists and turns you do not expect. I also loved how it all resolved.
If you haven't started this series yet, go back to the beginning and you won't be disappointed. Then go read all.l if her other books!
that did not go down how i imagined it would go, so much happened in the last two chapters.... it was we are going on an adventure la la la la la" BAM! MC dies and is reborn immortal and everything changes.. the dynamic changes, the harem is expanded and altered, tobias dies at the MC hands. then off to fairie land for like EVER.... and we all have to just be ok with that until the novella...
i just don't know how i feel, i would have liked this to be different.. it just didn't tick the boxes for me.

This was a really good ending to a very enjoyable RH series. For the Reign will go where you won't expect it and keep you on your toes until the very end. The author said there would be a novella with these characters coming out in summer 2019 so I'm really excited to read it especially because I'm so curious as to what will happen to them .
If you haven't started this series yet and you're a fan of RH books, then this one might be for you. I recommend giving it a try :).
A great little series. Eva is much more than she appears when introduced in the first book. The guys are all unique and complement her life. The worst part of this series is that it is so short.
I don’t know why, but I skimmed through a lot of this 3rd and final book. I keep jumping from 3 stars to 4 and I’d give this one 3.5 stars if I could, because it was way easy for me to put it down and walk away. All the action and suspense from book one wasn’t as exciting in this one for me. It’s like all the awesome fighting scenes were replaced with tons of sex with different dudes that at times felt a little like cheating... I’m all about a good RH story but this went from slow burn to burn out for me real fast and my emotions just weren’t in it anymore.
I'm so disappointed in this series, I came in expecting big things and yet I was let down time and time again. It was just so messy, and not well thought out. It was just written badly. It felt as though the author had so many ideas and just decided to ram them all in. It just felt very one dimensional. This really did have a lot of potential but it just fell flat. rip.
Once again this author has written a story that has completely surprised me. Where she took heroine Eva in this third book of the series was a total shock to me - I’m truly impressed by her imagination. As with the previous books in this series, For the Reign has tons of action, an increase in steam, and an ever increasing mythology. The story remains fast-paced with lots of elements jam-packed in. I usually would prefer slower paced, extra-detailed books, but this author hits a sweet spot of just enough detail, clean writing, and interesting story - allowing for a breezy read without a heavy time commitment. This book closes the story arc, but I was happy to see a novella planned down the line that will allow us to see what their new life looks like.
For the Reign... what can I say. This is to date my favorite series by Debbie and I’m absolutely in love with Ash. Who knew a character with exactly 0 lines lines could essentially steal the show. The action and build in this story was fantastic, I think I finished in a couple hours, just couldn’t put it down ❤️
I feel like Cassidy should have blended the story line better. I felt like I was reading to different books. I was disappointed that things were rushed and felt unfinished. We will see if the novella will answer all these questions I have floating around.
Fantastic read. This is truely brilliant. I have loved this series. the character's are brilliant. The story line captivating. It holds your attention through out.
I thought i knew what was going to happen and boy was there some surprises.
Ohh Tobias... poor Tobias. My heart goes out to him completely. The scene towards the end.! Heart wrenching.
I loved all the guys. The RH side of the book was awesome.
My favourite guy has to be Ash.... but maybe also Sage!
I felt the ending was totally rushed. Debbie could have kept on going with this storyline, and had at least another few book's from it. And we as her readers would have lapped it up like dehydrated and starved ferral... But even tho it felt rushed and we would have loved a whole lot more, it was still totally awesome.
I love that there is a Novella so that we can see Eva in her new role and have maybe have closure to this brilliant world.
I do have one no maybe two quibbles about the books right from book 1. We should have had a bit more from each of the guys. I would love to have seen things from their p.o.v. Also Eva should have learnt a tiny bit of sign language through out the story. It would have made the communication between her and Ash more intimate.
Being the one with the ultimate resposibility sucks. Nothing can be more difficult. Yet Eva copes well, fighting all the blows she gets from life and the secrets coming to the surface, proving her life was one big "happy" bubble. With the support and love of her men, she could overcome everything - even the deadly transformation of herself. Anyhow, losses are unavoidable... Action packed, fast developing and highly intense story interwoven with steamy scenes and wide range of deep, raw emotions makes a great conclusion to this dystopian fantasy series. Even the finale is believable and realistic, because with the whole setup, one could not simply expect a happy end. Sacrifices needed to be made, and in certain aspects really heavy ones. What was once lost won't be forgotten, but won't come back either. So you'd rather pick the book yourself and see what waits for Eva now..
I think I liked book 2 more, but this has been interesting and with some unexpected turns.
I expected Noah to stay in the picture, I totally saw the Tobias thing coming, although I was sorry. He didn't deserve it, poor pure little boy.
I'm already reading book 4, and I'm really interested in the Hunt storyline, less about the whole being a Goddess thing, I found it a bit much and out the world construction in some ways.
This one takes a weird plot turn from dystopian/sci-fi romance to fantasy romance. I still enjoyed it, and the idea of Faerie is cool, but also not what I signed up for when I picked up this series. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to read the novella (book 4).
The ending of this book has me wondering how they will come out of this because I truly believe they will. I’m just wondering if Eva will be adding to her harem at all. There’s a few men I’m interested in seeing if they become something more or not. I hope so.
Ooooooof. OOOOOF. Dear god. That was a very bitter sweet ending.
Overall I really enjoyed this series. It had a very similar plot to Debbie Cassidy's other Protectors of Midnight series but I think this one was executed better. Things weren't drawn out, it was very concise, and I felt as though I was more emotionally attached to these characters.
Pretty amazing series. Love th characters. But NOAHHHHHH. I was hoping he would be one of hers tooooo. Sad I also thought the Alaron would be on briefly but NOAHHHHHH!!! I want him to be one of hers🥺. Also Malcolm died way too easily for being the head and all that. Also my prediction about Tobias dying came true, although I will say, didn't expect him to die like that. Do feel bad for the poor thing. And BENJI😭 sweet Benji. The trauma!!! I could definitely see a mc having the background that he has. Imma go read the next novella now, I wanna know what happened to their arrangements. Tata. Peace.

What do I do in my spare time? Read Debbie Cassidy books. I am hooked! Just finished the For the Blood Series. Holy hotness! Everything a series should have was all there. Kickass heroine, hot love interests, slow burn RH, action and adventure, suspense, and a well developed story arc and world building. This is now my second series in a matter of days by this author. I can't wait to dive into another!
I didn’t enjoy how the series ended, but I’m in the minority again. I guess I just can’t understand this author’s way of finishing stories because this isn’t the first time I felt disappointed by a book of hers while everyone else loved it. I appreciate the writing, the world building and fantasy aspects but not how the story and harem ended. Again. Hope you all enjoy this better than me!
Tobias does, what the actual F?! I am not in it for love interests to die, noping right out. There was no reason for him to die. Make her bargain with the face to become the hunt only if she keeps her guys, or just keep him alive and he’ll be her mortal anchor, idk. SOMETHING, but I am still upset about Tobias months later.

The trilogy is a 2.9 stars for me. I wish I could give it that.
I didn't enjoy the third book as much as the first, but I didn't hate it. I simply disliked the direction it took and how mundane the plotline and RH seemed. I didn't quite connected to any of the characters in the book, especially, the guys. Even Ash that seems to be everyone's favourite was not it for me. It lacked time to develop in every aspect. It should've been bigger, longer and more detailed. I have a lot of questions about the world functioning, about how they found the entrance to Fae and no one else did before them and etc. There are a lot of plotholes, tons of them and no one was even going to do anything about them.
RH is a whole other beast.
It's not a fast burn which is a plus but the minus is from book one to book three their relationships grew from 0 to 4 out of 10. To say they are underdeveloped is to say nothing. They are completely new, some haven't even began yet and we are past Epilogue. And together with a not so exciting plotline it is almost a recipe for disaster.
Tobias: that is the only part that made me emotional about the book. I hate that there wasn't a lot of mentions about him throughout the books and that after what happened we do not have any kind of closure. She is the death, right? Just bring on the angst. So much missed opportunity. It's like no one cared about him as a character. Total waste.
Ash: I expected more from him from all the comments I read while starting the book. He ended up far from my expectations, but I am not mad about it. Can't say I created a bond with him, definitely not but he is one of the characters that have been somehow developed and brought in the heat.
Sage: I loved Sage, he is, probably, my favourite one out of the guys. I liked how he made changes happen in Eva, the questions he asked, the things he was aware of. I even thought we will have our hands full with Sage and his open demeanor. But he, eventually, has been lost in the background.
Logan: He was intriguing at the beginning, I like the tag game of hate/love scenarios. I thought that he is a guy with a tough exterior that turns into a marshmallow after he is yours...not really. You know why? We did not see enough of their relationship! The book ended!
Jace: Should I even talk about him? There was nothing. There was a kiss and tears about how we won't have future together. That's it. Nothing even led to them being in love. Maybe he did start having thoughts about her (we didn't see that) but not Eva. I don't remember her once thinking about Jace. And then she becomes 'god' and feels his feelings??? Okaay.
Elias: I did like him. If there was more to the trilogy, I would definitely connect with him but alas we have limited time in his presence. Very limited. How he ends up in her Harem? Mates obviously. Huh. So easy.
Noah: Erm...ugh...mhh... Well. Khm. They had a sleepover, I guess.
All in all I don't regret reading the book. The story was fast, sometimes too fast which created plotholes that were never patched up but somehow it still captured my attention, maybe it was a good writing and a MC that could say NO and mean it. The guys weren't anything new or exciting, the heatmeter didn't detect much of heat but they were different and not every author can manage 7 RH members to be different. This book needed time and length, more angst, more side characters and locations. And closure. (I know there is novella, but judging from the comments it's not good and definitely doesn't have anything to do with closure)
