A padded storybook treasury starring everyone's favorite llama! Fans of Anna Dewdney's best-selling Llama Llama series, now a Netflix animated original series, will join Llama, his Mama, and all their friends in a collection of stories each crafted for reading in five minutes or less--perfect for bedtime, on-the-go, and anytime in-between.
Racing to help Mama with a list of special errands, roasting marshmallows on a camping trip under the stars, learning the "llama paddle" in the pool--Llama Llama is always up to something exciting! This treasury of seven stories, each ready to be read in five minutes or less, brings Netflix's star llama back to the page for fans of both the streaming show and best-selling picture book series. Little Llamas will love joining in on the fun for an independent read, and hearing stories shared aloud when tucked into bed, red pajamas and all.
Anna Dewdney was an award-winning children's-book author, illustrator, teacher, mother, and enthusiastic proponent of literacy and reading aloud to children. She was the author of the bestselling Llama Llama Red Pajama series of picturebooks, among many others. She lived with her partner Reed Duncan in Vermont where she worked, gardened, and spent time with her daughters and dogs.
The "5-minute stories" compilations are essentially repressings of existing books and this outing pushes a Netflix series back into paper. I didn't know what to expect getting this at the library for my 5 and 3 year old kids. My kids enjoyed reading all of the stories and they are formatted to be extremely readable for the parents. Personally the strongest of the stories for me was when the tech-heavy Euclid the Ewe gets pushed out into the wilderness. Overall intriguing and it's definitely a story my kids would read again but I'm not going to go looking a second time for this one.
I'm not reviewing here but other books from this author have been massive hits for my kids: * Bully Goat * Little Excavator * Grumpy Gloria
Three stars only in conparison to the original Llama Llama books which i would give 4 stars. I like the original books more.
Definately longer than 5 minutes per story. Especially jf you're gonna be explaining the story as you go along to a young toddler. False advertising!!!! This is not written in the style of the original books. They are more like paragraphs, as if the TV show transcribed as a book.
I love these 5-Minute collection books. Perfect for kids who want TONS of stories at nap / night time. Knocking out one or two of these eats up time and there's a clear "Ok, we're done" when the story wraps up. This specific collection of Llama Llama stories is great as most have a helpful lesson for kiddos.
