Sebastian

I have a big head. Anyone would if they were me. I’ve got it all — money, power, control. Men want to be me. Women want to be with me.

I have a big bank account, a big house, a big ego… and a big need for revenge on the woman who just walked into my office asking for a job.

Lila

I’ve always thought a lot of myself. I went from Prom Queen to one of the youngest self-made-millionaires in Chicago. Until it all went to hell. Now I need the one man who’s never said no to me.

Except he’s changed. And now not only is he saying no. He’s making me want to say yes. To absolutely anything he wants from me.

I don't even know what to say. Well I have a lot to say, but I am not sure how to formulate everything that is wrong in this book...
First of all, I am glad I read "Big baller" before this one (and rated it 4 stars thank you very much), because if I had started this author and this series with this particular book, I would have sailed it straight into my "authors to avoid" and "wish I never touched it" shelves. I still might put it in "wish I never touched it", but since I have read "Big baller", I know the author can do better than this. But then again, even newby authors can do better than this.

Everything that repulsed me in this book can be summarized in two words - Main Characters. I could have tolerated the hero. But the heroine? Worst that the author, romance genre or even humanity has to offer.

I know, I know - what did you expect from a romance book , especially if you read another book in a series and knew how silly they are (humor mpg, duh)?
The thing is - I did know what I was getting into. At least I thought I did. The other book was silly and predictable and had cliches, yes, but it was funny, cute and sweet. This one? It disgusted me almost from the start. I didn't expect any earth shattering personality development, meaningful revelation or a plot that is about meaning of life or anything like that. I expected some minor development and a lot of humor, but that is nothing like what I received. As soon as I got introduced to the heroine, I wanted to close it and never touch again, but I though - "Hey, don't give up, it is only the beginning, she will grow and it will get better". Yeah, right. Should have listened to my inner pessimist and followed my first instinct.

So here (under my thoughtful spoiler) is why I just couldn't under any circumstances enjoy this book (although I really, really tried)

Before you ask - YES, I AM AWARE THAT I GOT TOTALLY WORKED UP ABOUT A FICTIONAL CHARACTER.

But this is GR and every book fan should know how it is impossible to stay quiet if the book totally rubbed you the wrong way. It is even worse when you had that thing called "Expectations" that totally crashed and burned while you wasted your time on the said disappointing book. I am sorry (I guess) if this sounds mean or whatever. This is how I saw it. This is how it made me feel. It is my subjective opinion and probably won't match the opinion of others, but that is the whole points, so don't take it too seriously ;)

A story with two spirited characters who pop the pages with chemistry. It is book with everything. The drama is well described as the delicious steamy hot scenes. The other characters are well described and come into their own in this story.

Excellent romance between temptations, rebirth and revenge
I loved the characters and the way they continually try to tease the other. It is very well written, quite moving and the dialogues and ideas to deestroy the day of the other are quite humorous.
Lila tries to again her life after losing everything, including her fiance, because of her partnerwho was arrested for fraud. She had been successful so far, and she lost her reputation. To try to recreate a new image, she asks Sebastian, ( a former friend of her brother) with whom she had slept a few hours before she became engaged, to give her a job, even if it is only to bring coffee. He became billionaire and his name on her resume would be enough for a new job. What she has not planned is that he wants a revenge and whe ants to take this opportunity to make her pay for her past behavior. He confines her, leaves her bored for hours, but his new, more domineering and less worshipful tone disturbs her, and she amuses herself by provoking him perpetually. Everything is initially placed under this sign: who will crack the first to the pressure of the other. Moreover, Lila discovers that the life she had before was not what make her happy and that opening up and helping others pleases her more (besides what Sebastian makes her discover)
I liked how Lila's humility progresses in the face of a Sebastian who remains frozen in his images of the past and in his denial of seeing a new Lila.

We all need an "ego fluffer" and author, Blake Wilder has provided us with the how-to manual on achieving one with Big Head. Her demo models, Sebastian and Lilia are the perfect pair in every way. They are the quintessential oil and vinegar, Buffy and Spike. I loved that the shenanigans they pulled on each other were subtle and not slapstick. I loved the barista, Kara whose role may have been small but the author gave as much care with her presence in the storyline as with the protagonists.
The scene in the office supply store touched my heart. I truly related as I bought the same type of colorful sticky notes, note pads, paper clips and pens even though my department was provided with stock supplies. It was my way of injecting lightness into the dreariness.
Definitely recommending this book for your reading pleasure and enjoyment. Ms. Wilder has more books coming out in this same romcom, big egos storyline:
Big Hose (Jan 2019) and Big Balls (Feb 2019). Can't Wait!

Sebastian has been in love with Lila since they were kids but she broke his heart. When she comes to him for assistance, after her fall from grace, he gives her help but with conditions. I love the characters and the story line. The character relationship is allowed to develop naturally and the story line flows well.

I enjoyed the book. It was fast, feisty, and fun, not to mention steamy. Lila is looking for a job after the betrayal of her CFO and partner. She goes to Sebastian, her go-to guy who has been in love with her forever, to look for a job. Despite him wanting to teach her a lesson, seems like he can't keep his hands off her. I enjoyed both characters. It read like a fun romantic chick-lit.

Lila has lost everything because of her business partner’s lies. She decides to go to the one man who always wanted her, to help her get her reputation back. Sebastian is not the boy he once was but that doesn’t stop him from hiring Lila. This book is hilarious but so sexy too! I loved it ! I can’t wait to read the next two!

Blake Wilder is the pen name for 3 contemporary romance writers of whom Erin Nicholas is the only one I’m familiar with. Since I’ve totally enjoyed most of Nicholas’s books, I thought I’d give this Size Matters series a shot. Given the name of the book and the series I’m expecting it to be on the raunchy comedy side which is fine with me. Turns out it has some raunch and some kink but not a whole lot of laughs. If first impressions are important, I’m glad this book was free on Kindle Unlimited and I didn’t have to pay for it. Hopefully that changes before I’m finished reading.
My big problem with this book at the start is that I don’t find either of the main characters likable. Sebastian was Lila’s younger brother’s best friend growing up. He had a huge crush on Lila who is three years older. I can’t fault Lila for not being into a kid three years her junior. Especially when we learn that strong, confident, dare we say dominant men are what get her motor running. A younger boy following her around like a happy puppy hardly fits that mold. But I can fault her for taking advantage of the kid’s puppy love. She enjoyed how he’d fawn over her and lift her spirits when she was feeling down. She totally enjoyed his adoration. As she later confesses to readers she was a needy, selfish teenager. When in college she catches her boyfriend David cheating on her she turns to Sebastian for a one-time hook-up to make her feel better. Then she goes home and accepts David’s marriage proposal leaving Sebastian playing the fool on her front lawn in the rain, professing his love for her.
Now it’s years later. Lila armed with a Harvard MBA starts a very successful business with her BFF. Only her BFF who is the CFO is married to a Mafiosa and she’s using the business to launder dirty organized crime money. Lila avoids prosecution but her partner and former BFF is in prison, her business is tanked as is her professional reputation and bank account. She can’t even use her charge card to buy a coffee. It was never really clear to me why the millions she had made had disappeared along with her reputation leaving her broke.
Sebastian has also become a huge success. Even bigger than Lila. He's a billionaire. Desperate for a job and to restore her reputation she turns to Sebastian. She’s confident the boy who adored her will come to her aid again. It never crosses her mind how much she hurt him on that night so many years ago. Only Sebastian is still stinging from the night he lost his virginity to Lila only to have her go home and accept a ring from her cheating boyfriend. In fact it was that night that made him the man he is today, no more Mr. Nice guy, ruthless and no longer vulnerable to feelings. Sebastian plans to use his new position to embarrass and humiliate Lila the way she did him. So that’s my dilemma early on in this book. Who do I like less, the still thoughtless and self-involved Lila or Sebastian who is cruelly bent upon taking his revenge on her?
Sebastian offers Lila a job under ridiculous conditions like she must wear a dress and heels and no panties to work. But he does generously allow Lila to name her own salary. Lila accepts his offer. Sebastian’s plan is to humiliate Lila by having her sit around and watch him work most of the day and by assigning her the most menial tasks. He thinks Lila will quickly quit. Lila is no fool and she knows how to get under Sebastian’s skin as well as he does hers. She pulls silly pranks while fulfilling the letter of his requests and frequently flashes her assets just to drive him crazy. When Sebastian fails to show up for an important meeting Lila takes the bull by the horns and runs the meeting impressing everyone including Sebastian. As a reward he gives Lila a key role in running the project. They get into an office sexual relationship. By office I mean they’re doing it on the desk, against the windows, in the elevators etc. Working on this special project which involves creating a non-profit to help the homeless Lila begins to feel good about herself again. She realizes that working for good causes is more rewarding than working to get rich. Although she does love her designer labels. Unfortunately even though Sebastian has fallen in love with Lila again, his trust is still clouded by the way she treated him when they were kids. Eventually with the help of a gay barista Sebastian gets his head on straight and I would guess they live happily ever after. That’s just an assumption because there isn’t an epilogue and we don’t really see more of the couple once they acknowledge their love for each other. Ultimately an okay story but I don't know that I'll bother to continue to read more of the series.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it..
Lila lost everything when her business partner was convicted of laundering money for the mafia. Desperate, she turned to a childhood friend, billionaire Sebastian Caldwell. The last time Lila saw Sebastian, she had humiliated him after he poured his heart out on her front lawn. Sebastian is no longer the boy that had a crush on her, he’s a man determined to teach her a lesson.

1st read by Blake Wilder ... looking forward to Big Hose! i wonder when it will come out?? such a funny read ... maybe i was wrong ...but i found so much of it humorous!! great characters. Mr EGO ... Sebastian ... what a jerk ... an emotional connection. family ties. Lila ... i am not sure I would call them steamy moments ... but definitely a bit of steam??! & didn't some 1 say something about not lock on the office door, when does that every happen ... and cameras everywhere ... what an invasion of privacy .... held interest ... but i was kind of confused by their relationship ... did Sebastian just wanna make Lila feel belittle or what? it was kind of like at times the book pushed my buttons ... like why is she not standing up to him ... what a jerk?? i mean come on but i couldn't put it down ... that kind of feelings. standalone ... i see someone said on Goodreads about this being a box set? wonder what they are talking about ... I am ready for the next read ... and i don't see it out yet?? i wonder??!

All about steamy sex

If steamy sex is all you are looking for, this should suit you fine. If you wanted romance, you may want to keep looking.
An abusive, alpha billionaire boss is our H. An out of work, misunderstood former business owner is our h.
They get together, and proceed to...not do very much but have extremely abusive sex, in between bouts of his abusive behavior toward her. Which she, unaccountably seems to thrive on.
The whole thing is beyond far-fetched, with zero likability on his part, only the slightest compassion for her, and then only in the beginning. Not a book I would recommend.

Lila had it all and then she had nothing. All thanks to the criminal activity from her best friend and her best friends husband. They didn't think about their kids and they certainly didn't think about Lila. So now she has to beg the one guy who had worshipped her in high school, except he's different now.

Sebastian is successful, domineering, dominant and loves power. Or at least that's what he's showcasing when he decides to help out Lila and get his revenge on her for his past broken heart. He'd worshipped the ground she walked on, but didn't really get to see her transform into a better person or get to see how humbled she'd become.

These two have both changed. He's not the door mat puppy she took advantage of, and she's not minding not being in control. She likes being submissive and he likes that she's getting to know him for a change. Working together is a battle of wills, banter, and teasing.

I liked this story. It was funny, sexy and interesting to see these two develop. I am not a fan of people with entitlement or being stuck up so I was all for him getting his revenge- and it was nice to see she grew to being a better person. I even loved Kara.

Definitely would read more stories from this author with the banter, comedic touches and erotica.

This is a very entertaining romantic comedy featuring a feisty, down on her luck, former CEO and the uptight, controlling billionaire who crushed on her hard when they were both younger. Lila has come to ask Sebastian for a much needed job to help restore her once pristine business reputation. Sebastian, still bitter from her treatment of him years ago, reluctantly agrees. Since he doesn’t actually want to hire her, he creates a non-job with the most outrageous working conditions, secretly hoping he can force her to quit. What ensues are a series of hilarious pranks courtesy of Lila once she realizes his game. I very much enjoyed these two with their witty banter and their push and pull as each tried to drive the other crazy with their antics while dialing up the heat on their attraction. The story is well written with very charismatic characters. There are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and some seriously steamy scenes, along with a bit of drama and angst. I look forward to more stories from this author.

A new author to me. I was really looking forward to a fun rom com but although there are some fun characters, the main H and h were not very likeable. Sebastian is Lila’s brother’s BFF- he had a crush on Lila for some time. Lila thought he was a dork and treated him badly. Sebastian is holding a grudge though even when Lila comes to ask for a job. Sebassion was unnecessarily cruel. I did not appreciate the way he embarrassed and humiliated her all the time and I hated that she didn’t do anything about it. I hate weak main characters, especially the h - I always hope for strong women in my books. She had treated him badly and that was unforgivable but they were kids and now she has been through a horrific trauma by her best friend/business parter -lost her her money, her business and was publicly dumped and embarrassed. Now that the girl is down, Sebastian is taking her turn at kicking her down even more and that really irritated me. It’s unforgivable IMO. I am sorry, the sex scenes completely left me cold. Again, Sebastian was a total jerk - there was no heat, no chemistry- just a big a$$h0L$

I liked the main characters and like the background the author gave you about Sebastian and Lila. Gave you a better perspective into who the are today. Lila had her own company, was at the top of her game until her partner was arrested for money laundering. She not only lost it all she lost her reputation as well, even though she was cleared of any involvement. Desperate she turns to the one person she knows will help her Sebastian who has always been her friend and supported her whenever she has needed him. Sebastian has no intention of hiring Lila not after he poured his heart out to her back in school and she broke his heart. He wasn’t above getting revenge on her and humiliating her to get even. Lila isn’t the same girl she used to be and she is shocked to see that Sebastian doesn’t consider her a friend and doesn’t particularly like her. Will Sebastian get over his revenge to see that maybe after everything that happened to her Lila really did grow up and change? Will Lila ever become more to him than just a glorified assistant he doesn’t let do anything. Will the two ever give into the chemistry between them. I received an Arc copy and am volunteering to leave a review.

Lila and Sebastian have a past. He is 3 years younger and her brother's best friend. Lila is beautiful and spoiled. She is used to being the center of attention. She had everyone wrapped around her finger. Sebastian has always been in love with her. She used him as an ego booster when things got her down. Now years later the tables have turned. Lila is betrayed by her best friend and business partner. She narrowly escapes jail and is a piranha in the business world. Sebastian is the man everyone wants to be in business with and he now is the one in control. It seemed to be a contest on who had the biggest ego. When Lila humbles herself to ask for a job, Sebastian makes her pay. But things don't go as planned. His revenge comes with penalties. He falls all over again. Can Lila and Sebastian get by their pasts and move forward. Or will their egos get in the way?

An enjoyable second chance romance! There is so much to look forward to – witty banter, sexual tension, ups and downs, and humour. The book is well written and relatable; the plot is well-developed and consistent, the ideas are well-thought-out and there is a great pace from scene to scene. Lila and Sebastian are great together; they are strong and show true depth; their chemistry is off the charts and undeniable. This story will tug your heart strings, will make you laugh, and hold your interest until the very end. Definitely recommended!

I liked this book enough, even though I'm not a fan of Sebastian; I understand why he felt humiliated those years ago, but his treatment of Lila currently was nothing more than a turn off for me. Obviously he knew he was wrong with his "contract" for Lila (otherwise why worry about anything from a legal standpoint?) He never gave her the opportunity to discuss what had transpired years ago. I'll give Lila her props though, trying to move forward in her life after the complete mess her best friend/business partner created. I can see being attracted to the sternness of Sebastian, but not so much the a-hole he actually seems to be.

Naughty and nice

4.5 stars. I loved both characters. I loved the dirty story and how much the naughty came out.
Only things I wasn't fond of, I wish she could have explained what has happened between her and her ex. It might have she's some light on why her control issues were so ingrained. The other, the fact that he was so quick to negatively respond to the job offer. I can understand the hot "punishment" aspect, but it could have been altered to him telling her she would remain loyal. Or something else. I don't know. I'm not the author.
I love Blake Wilder. So I don't have too many complaints. It was really cute and I loved the torture they put each other through.

So fun

I have to admit that, though I was aware of this series - I even found one in my tbr queue, I had back burnered it. That tbr queue is too long. Little gems like this get lost. I have found it now. Brilliant! Even in first person, not always my choice for pov, I loved this book. The characters were multidimensional and real. The challenges were real world, relatable issues. Okay, maybe not so much what these two got up to in his office. That was a bit out there, but totally hot and fun. But the underlying story outside the romance, yes. Totally relatable - for me anyway. Lovely read.

I loved this story about Sebastian and Lila. The guy who loved her and would do any for her to the point that Lila would take advantage and walk all over Sebastian. Lila needs a strong man, a man who is in control not a man she can push around. Well the tables have turned. I loved reading about their journey and especially Lila’s journey as she grows as a person. Great story and I will definitely be reading more by this author.

I really enjoyed this read by Blake Wilder. Lila and Sebastian have known each other for years. So when Lila finds herself alone and without a job after her business partner went to jail, she goes to the one person she knows can help her. Sebastian was so in love with Lila when they were young but after she betrayed him, all he is looking for is revenge. And she just gave him the perfect opportunity. He will give her a job but he has special conditions attached. This was a great mixture of steam, drama, betrayal and humor.

Despite there being little background on the characters, a bit far fetched plot (how could she not know about his home life?) and the writing, which is okay, I liked this book. I didn't connect with the characters-they were a bit too much for me- but I rooted for them nonetheless. If the author would get in more depth and get a content person on board- great things will come! This was an enjoyable read and I read the book straight through.

Flaming hot, wickedly funny and sinfully satisfying

Flaming hot, wickedly funny and sinfully satisfying! Sebastian has been in love with Lila since childhood but after she carelessly broke his heart one last time he declared himself done. Now, Lila needs a job. After loosing her business in a spectacular way no one will hire her but she is sure Sebastian will, after all, she has always had him wrapped around her finger. The banter between these two are clever and funny and the heat is perfect.
