Hard, inked, huge—all anyone sees is the warrior. But not her.
Cora knows I need excitement and the thrill of a fight because she craves action, too. She knows I chat romance books with women twice my age, including her grandmother. She knows that I’m more than the bodyguard--because she is, too.
She’s struggling to get her new security firm off the ground while set-backs pile up and threats loom. She needs my help, but I’m torn between duty to my pack and allowing myself to embrace what I truly desire.
I've always wanted her from afar, and once she’s close, I can’t deny my feelings for her.
Even if she doesn’t know it yet, Cora is my mate.
This is a standalone story in the Protectors of the Pack series. Expect steamy shifter romance, edge-of-your-seat action, scorching love scenes, and a happily ever after.

Who could want more in a story: Hot alpha tatted protector wolf, strong, gorgeous, female protector wolf, who have just learned they are mates. While working for the same company, the pack alpha, and family they have only seen each other from afar. Things change and suddenly they both realize there is more between them.
A new business. New clients, threats, unique employee, and friends a little (make that a lot) older who enjoy romance books. Yes, that's right, he is an alpha male. You'll love the characters major and those in the background. There are steam, humor, and romance as well as plenty of bad guys to keep you turning those pages.
As always the author has given us enjoyment on every page. Don't miss this standalone story of romance and new beginnings.
Dax is quite the interesting Alpha wolf, one who joins a book club with three old lady's who like steamy romance novels. I love that though exterior hold the heart of a marshmallow, he also has the sense to let a woman lead when needed not always needing to be the one in charge. Cora is definitely the strong woman who has a plan and the skills to build it. Chemistry is definately there between them, Tristan was an interesting character but Ethel and Susan were hilarious. Scheming grandmother ne and rivals willing to do anything to get ahead. Story was delicious and entertaining. Always enjoy a a paranormal story that takes me away into another world.

As Dax meets his mate she is planning to move and start her own business. Dax was spending Christmas Day with the three older ladies who make up the book club he has been attending once a month for the last two years when Cora the granddaughter of one arrives and he realizes she is his mate. As the meal progresses he finds out that she is planning to move and start a business and he fears his mating will be over before it starts. He decides to try and see if there could be more and visits her at her new office. A shifter romance to relax and enjoy.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. I loved seeing a big Alpha guy like Dax even with his tough exterior that under all that he had a heart of gold. He had no problem spend his time with 3 old ladies and entertaining their shenanigans. Overall a very enjoyable and entertaining read. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
Nicely done, I liked it. It was sweet and exciting. It was a surprise that Dax was not more of an Alpha type though. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, it has a good storyline 👍. Cora leaves her security job just after meeting her mate Dax also in security. This book tells his they finally get together. It's filled with action and the chemistry between them is wonderful. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Warrior has some really great elements in it. I loved how our hero Dax, was a true beta—a man who was strong and confident in himself, but not a man who had to be the leader, or in charge. In that sense, he’s a great balance to his heroine, Cora. After years of being a bodyguard to others (just as Dax does in his job), Cora’s chosen to strike out on her own and create a new security company. The complications of Warrior arise from her challenges not only in creating a new business but from another established security company that doesn’t want a new player in town.
Cora is more opaque as a character—she’s defined by her job and her desire to succeed in it. We don’t get any sense of her hobbies or interests outside of work. In contrast, Dax is well set up, and some of the best parts of Warrior are his encounters with the members of his monthly romance reading book club. You can just tell Blackwood is having the time of her life writing these scenes where she can play on every romance cliché in the book (and the scene where we finally get to read the fruits of two members’ romance writing labors is flat-out hilarious).
Blackwood also has a deft hand with secondary characters—the book club members, Cora’s new employee Tristan, Cora’s first job contractor, Wanda—who are all well drawn. But the plot itself is somewhat meandering to start, as Dax doesn’t seem to want to be with Cora even though he’s compelled to do so as a shifter recognizing his mate. And the opacity of Cora is also apparent here: Dax’s longing is palpable, but I didn’t get a similar sense from Cora, as she is so concerned with her move and her new job.
So after a slow build, we get to an action climax involving many of the characters we’ve met in Warrior. I can’t say more without getting into spoiler territory, but I was frustrated here as there were several elements to the denouement that didn’t make sense to me—characters who shouldn’t have come easily at Cora’s (or her grandmother’s) beck and call do, moments when characters shift into their animal states but clothes (and the things in them) are miraculously undamaged, etc.
So I loved the gentle strength of the hero, the fantastic sense of humor in the romance book club, and the desire of Cora to be independent and build her own business. But the opacity of the heroine and the way the denouement didn’t work logically for me drove my rating down a bit. Nonetheless, I enjoyed Blackwood’s style and humor—and found a refreshing change in Dax and his romance-reading habit from the other alpha-driven heroes of most shifter romance.
I've never hidden the fact that I love Keira Blackwood's work, I envy her imagination and I've always been entertained by each book she writes.... but my stars above - I'm about to fight Cora for Dax, and while I know full out that I'd lose big time, he would be worth the effort. I mean, come on - big, strong, sexy, a protective nature, steamy moves in the bedroom... and he reads romance novels and is devoted to the grannies in his romance book club. How the hell am I not going to fall totally in love with this guy?
So, yeah, I was completely captivated by "Warrior" which is the fourth story in the Protectors of the Pack series. Dax and Cora are both bodyguards, good at what they do, capable of defending anyone to the death if need be. Yet things are changing as the Alpha (who Cora has been a bodyguard to) is turning over leadership of the pack to his son... and Cora's position is now done. She grabs the opportunity to begin her own security firm, but that means moving to the next town over. This brings complications in the form of discovering that Dax is her mate, competition in her new location that isn't above dirty tricks to get the new blood out of town... and figuring out what to do with one handsome, supportive, sexy man who will not turn away from his mate.
I had a blast with "Warrior". Loved Dax and Cora together... but the grandmothers, the romance book club meetings, and the shenanigans that these feisty, spry older ladies get up to are a pure delight and hilarious to read. If you love a good story, characters you can like and cheer on, some danger, a puzzle to figure out, great secondary characters... and one very unique romance reading hero, then you'll absolutely love "Warrior". I'd not hesitate to recommend this story or this entire series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader. I had fun, and that's the whole point of getting lost in another world.

Loved it, great addition to the series Warrior is the 4th book in the Protectors of the Pack series and can easily be read as a stand alone. Bodyguard Dax Little, enjoys book club with his thee elderly neighbors, gardening and his job. Well his job not so much any more, not since Hunter Briggs, the alpha heir, has become the alpha. His job is now is mostly standing around. He misses getting his hands dirty with the chasing down rogues and such. He has a long history with the Briggs family and can't see leaving Hunter. Cora Andrews is the former bodyguard to Alexander Briggs, Hunter's father. Now that he is retired, her services are no longer needed. Cora decides to set up her own security company in the next town. Things aren't going quite as planed. Cora and Dax may have worked for father and son, but never came in close contact until Christmas dinner. Agnus is Dax's book club and gardening buddy and Cora's human grandma. When they meet, Dax is sure she is his mate. She is moving to another town and he can't see leaving Hunter and his family. When Cora needs help with her first client, Agnus and Dax step up to help. A fun, fast pace and a little steamy read. A great epilogue to tie their story up. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I have added this book to my wish list.
Fourth book in the series. I have not read the previous ones. Nice romance. I loved it.
Dax and Cora work in the same company, but their paths have never crossed. Until one night they meet through Cora's grandmother and Dax discovers that she is his mate.
I loved Dax. He is big, strong, quiet, sweet, and his best friends are three old women with whom he shares a taste for reading. Hhe has known Cora from afar for a long time and is happy to meet her and discover that they are mates, although it is not easy for them to be together.
Cora is competent, professional, tough. She wants to prove to herself that she can do it, after failing before (though no one blames her). She is attracted to Dax, she feels good with him. She doesn't just want sex with him. She wants more.
I loved them together, how they get to know each other.
I loved Agnes, Ethel and Susan, and their books. And Tristan.
I loved the worldbuilding, and the secondary story.
The book has funny moments, it made me laugh.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
This is book 4 of The Protectors of the Pack and I loved it. DAX is a wolf shifter he’s also a bodyguard and he absolutely loved romance books, he’s in a bookclub with 3 other grandmas and he’s loved Cora from afar. Cora was the alpha’s bodyguard she meets DAX through her grandma who joined the bookclub, even though they worked for the same company they had never officially met until Cora’s grandma and they hit it off straight away. Cora wants more in her life so she tells DAX that she is moving away and opening up her own security business, but there is danger ahead for Cora someone is trying to stop her so can DAX comevin and rescue Cora and claim her as his mate before it’s too late?. I loved this story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
This is the fourth book in the protector series and I think it has been my favourite If it is at all possible for a wolf shifter bodyguard to be sweet and adorable then that is Dax
This is Dax and Cora's story they are both bodyguards but have somehow never came across one another till Cora's grandmother joins a book club and she meets Dax there (yes he loves to read romances) now they are smitten with one another. Cora wants to start her own bodyguard business but someone is determined to stop her will Dax be able to protect her and still do his job. The relationship between these two will have many ups and downs as Cara tries to establish her ne business. The thing that really makes this book special is the way that Dax relates to the grannies in the book club there are definitely some laugh out loud moments there
This is Dax Little and Cora Andrew's drawn out romance. Dax spends every Christmas with his friends that are Grandmas. They along with him are in a book club. The women are Agnes, Susan and Ethel. This Christmas, Dax sees another place setting and then he hears a knock at the door. Agnes introduces her granddaughter Cora who is the missing person from that Christmas dinner. Cora also happens to be Dax's mate and she doesn't know it and Dax doesn't tell her. That the beginning on those too, but your gonna laugh outloud when you read about what those grandmas do throughout this story. There's a lot of action and you got bears and wolf shifters oh and lion shifters too. This was a fun read.

Who is Dax? What time of year is this story set in? Where is he? Who are Ethel, Susan, and Agnes? What happens when Cora shows up? There were paranorma romance, suspense, threats of war, and completely unexpected bits in this book that I am still shaking my head about now that I'm done. It was a quick read! Not quite sure how I feel about the ending, but really enjoyed the rest of the book.

get ready to laugh and be thankful for good authors
Put two fated mates in different towns, add a couple of weird sci-fi wannabe authors with the worse taste in any world, a granny looking out for her granddaughter a couple doing Romeo and Juliet shifter style and the most laid back and weird surfer dude ever an you can see that although this is about security you wont be able to stop laughing . Sounds like a total mish mash but somehow it really does work to give a great book well written and full of adventure an fun

This fast paced read was funny and sexy with a little danger on the side. I absolutely loved the book club ladies. They had me laughing from start to finish. They might have been older but they sure as heck weren't dead. Cora was a security specialist and decided to open her own security firm in another town. Dax was the bodyguard for his alpha wolf. When he meets Cora at her grandmother's house on Thanksgiving, he realizes she is his mate. He is dejected when Cora says she is moving away the next day. They have quite a path ahead of them as they work towards their HEA. Along the way, Grandma and the ladies will have you smiling - but only if you can handle their off color banter.
Cora, a wolf-shifter from a well-to-do family and trained to work in security. When she is laid off as her old boss retires she decides to start her own company in a nearby town. But starting a business is not easy, especially when there is competition playing foul. Dax, another shifter body guard, from a poor background had worked for the same boss and recognizes Cora as his mate. Together with Cora's grandmother and her friends they successfully fight back. A great story with lot's of happy smiles. Entertaining with a touch of mystery and adventure it is a great read. Cora is opening her own security firm. She used to work for the pack alpha but he retired and does not need her any more. Dax works for the new pack alpha, but knows that Cora is his mate and makes visits to her office in the next town over. They need to figure out how life will work going forward, so they can move forward as mates. Join them on their journey.

This features 2 strong, dominant shifters used to being bodyguards. He is also a romantic and goes to book club with older ladies. She is the grand daughter of one of the ladies! She is trying to start up a business and he is encouraged to assist, which he does.! All in all a good tale with intrigue and drama together with romance!

I just love the fact that Dax is the huge alpha male but still hangs out with little old ladies for book club and may I just say those little old ladies are hilarious!! Both Dax and Cora are at a cross road in their lives, Cora decides to follow her dream of having her own security firm and Dax knows he wants Cora but doesn't know how to make it work. There is plenty of action, laughs and intrigue to keep you hooked!
I absolutely loved the characters in this book. Cora and Dax were vivid and vibrant, but the other characters were absolutely amazing! I haven’t enjoyed a cast of people this much in a very long time. Cora and Dax had to navigate threats, danger, a kidnapping and insecurities in their attempt for a HEA. Excellent read!

I really liked this steamy shifter read. This is the fourth book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. Cora is the process of opening her own security firm. Dax works for the new pack alpha but know Cora is his mate he can’t stay away. Will he remain loyal to the pack or work to help Cora and her business. Fast-past steamy read with great characters and lots of steam. I was hooked from beginning to end on this fun and entertaining read.
Now this book knows how to have fun. When it starts with three older ladies and their book club, you can expect anything. Dax just happens to be part of the club too. You wouldn’t expect a huge shifter to fit in so well. The there is Cora. A shifter just starting a new career as a detective. There are several additional characters that just make the book so fun. Expect detective work, a little fighting, lots of laughs and some romance that is quite sweet.
Warrior is book 4 of Keira Blackwood 's The Protectors of the Pack series. This is Dex and Cora 's book. The story building is full of sexy alpha male and hot female heroes. The story is also amazingly funny. The grandmas keep the story full of laugh out loud snippets. I Iove that Keira has the ability to transition from a serious moment into a hilarious one.
What a great enjoyable read. He is a member of a book club with three older ladies. One of them has a granddaughter show up at the meeting they are having. He realizes that the granddaughter is his mate. He goes looking for her to try to have something more with her before it is too late. I recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
This was a fun read and I really enjoyed following along with our PI's taking care of their cases. Quirky and intense, the action was there, the build up of info kept me hooked, story plotting banter from the book club was hilarious and some steam all worked together to keep me well engaged. I loved the family/friend values and the humour of the book club. So much fun!
