Her decision gets harder when her Grandmother arranges for her to marry a powerful wizard. If she’s going to avoid that disaster, she’ll need to find a job…and that’s where everything changes.
At the Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities, they need investigators. Felicity is perfect for the job, but there’s just one catch, she’ll need to use the powers she’s been trying to avoid. Is giving up her dream of a normal life worth it?
Can she learn to embrace who she is?
Will the decision get her in over her head?
Sent back in time to 1999, she must solve a murder at the Old Bailey. This one will be a challenge and there’s a catch, she’s got just seven days to solve it.
You’ll love this story because of the struggle and the twists.
I love Mona Marple's books. This was quite different from her other works but once I got into wanting to solve the mystery I was hooked. A young witch who comes from money has issues with her family and get cut out of the family has to find a job. She has to solve a crime and get sent in the past for a short time and gets help from a ghost wolf. I loved the memories, the technology of time. I hope you keep writing about Flick.
This is the second book in a cute new witch cozy series about time travel and righting wrongs from the past. I liked Flick as she tries to figure out how to solve a mystery without guidance from family and friends.
This is the second book of the A Witch In Time Series. This series is being written by several authors, each of whom has a main character and a mystery to solve. In the previous book we met Vee and time traveled to New York. In this book we meet Felicity, (Flick), and go to 1999 London. This series is fast becoming a must read more series. I love that each character goes on her own adventure, (though the other characters may make appearances), and solves their own mystery. So far, you don’t need to read the books in order of publication. I would encourage you to, though, just for the fun of it and, of course, to meet each witch. In the weeks before the first book was released I found myself wondering who will be my favorite witch. I think it is going to be more difficult than I thought to choose her. I love that Flick is in a beginning of the craft, (by this I mean she is becoming an independent witch). She comes from a prestigious line of witches, yet seems to truly want to find her own way. Her Gram places emphasis on high standards and the family. She has made sacrifices for them and expects Flick to do the same. Yet she loves Flick deeply. Flick is aware of all this but isn’t certain making the sacrifices her mother and grandmother made are for her. This complexity makes for an interesting secondary story. I found the mystery that Flick needs to solve intriguing and fascinating, (perhaps because Johnny and Candice had me remembering Sid and Nancy - their story was another one that was heartbreaking for me). Another thing I loved about the story was the way Flick tried to use her power to do good. It’s not often that I feel like crying in a mystery but I did with Bill and his wife. I cannot wait to read the next book in this bewitching series. I find myself wondering about the next witch, her personality and mystery, at odd moments of the day. I am also anxious for more from both Vee and Flick.
A good read. Not as good as the first book in this series. It seemed a bit bland compared to it. A murder at the Old Bailey with a list of suspects that all have a good motive. The characters however seemed a bit under done especially the main character. You could visualise all the others but I couldn't see her. Her Gram wants her to enter an arranged marriage and her refusal leads her to having her allowance cut off and no way of earning a living. A delivery of a mysterious package has her excited especially as it appears that she has been given a job. A job of getting justice for a murder victim. A murder victim whole body is found inside the Old Bailey. However he was not an innocent. He had already been accused of murdering his girlfriend and although found not guilty everyone knew he was. Can she, a pampered trust fund baby and witch, find the killer? It appears that a lot of people had a motive and as she and the ghost, that resides there, go through their findings they keep uncovering new information. Will it enable her to find the culprit before she has to return to her own time?
Flick dreams of escaping all things mystical. But Gram has other plans. Felicity (Gram doesn’t like the name Flick) is to marry an important warlock and think of continuing the lineage. Yes, that means a daughter must be conceived. To avoid that scenario, and be independent, she needs a job. But that proves to be difficult, seeing as she’s got zero work experience. Then an opportunity presents itself. The Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities. And they’re sending her back to 1999 to solve a cold case. I must say, she didn’t get a whole lotta information before she’s sent back in time!
A light-hearted, fun read. I loved everything about it! I was very excited about reading this book and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations! A cozy time travel mystery that was super enjoyable. Flick is not very worldly-wise to say the least, which makes for fun moments. LOL. Which doesn’t mean lots of love ;)
Felicity, or Flick as she prefers, just wants to be normal and live in her little flat in London. However, that's hard to do when you're part of an old, distinguished and very rich family of witches. Gram rules the roost at their country estate as well as the finances. They want Felicity to marry a snotty little warlock in order to have a child and carry on the family name. Flick has other ideas and decides to buck the system. Just as she's figuring out how hard that really is, especially with no money, she receives a package relating to a job. This mystery job is to go back in time and solve a cold murder case. With absolutely no experience and no idea how to do this, she jumps right in. This is a really good book and I got some great laughs out of it. I love it and hope the others in this series are just as good!
Felicity is becoming an adult!!!! She is embracing her powers and learning how to take control of her life. While Grandmother thinks it is time for Felicity to marry, Felicity totally disagrees. She is not ready to marry, especially to Merlyn whom she dislikes. So what does she do, well she applies for a job at the Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities. With only seven days to solve an old crime, Felicity teems up with the ghost of Newgate who haunts the Old Bailey to try to work out the details of the crime. Time travel is not fun when you are trying to solve a crime. The characters were well described and very believable. The time period was well researched and felt realistic. The plot was fun and the twists in the story were well planned and kept the story interesting. Really enjoyed this book. The series is great fun and it is on to read the next book in the series.
While this is a great whimsical cozy mystery, it also touches on real social issues that are timeless. Flick goes back in time to solve a cold case. She also learns about homelessness and we see how that effects her. The story touches on gender and racial equality also. Flick meets several people of different ages and occupations. She learns about their lives and issues they are dealing with. This is very much about Flick becoming an adult, being responsible for herself, and finding out what it means to be an adult. Surprise ending and a very satisfying ending. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
A Devil of a Time is Book 2 in the Witch in Time Series. The concept for this series is fantastic: Witches who travel back in time to solve cold cases for The Agency of Paranormal Peculiarities.
We meet Flick and she is having a "devil of a time". Flick has powers but does not want to use them. If she doesn't use them she'll be cut off from her family. She decides to take a job with the Agency and she is sent back to 1999 to solve a cold case and she only has 7 days to do it!
I love this book, and the concept is so original intertwining time travel and witches with a mystery. The writing is so well done , and I really enjoyed the plot twists. Flick is as complex a character as they come, not only dealing with decisions with her family, and her craft but also solving a cold case mystery.
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book. This is a stand alone book, but part of a series of 5 books written by 5 different authors and I look forward to reading each one.
An interesting concept and overall a good story with refreshing character development. However, I felt some of the story got lost in its plot holes. I wish we could have gotten more of a story as to what happened to Flick’s special power as the story progressed. Also, the description of the time change, between Flick’s present and where she travelled to, left a little to be desired. Had some of these questions been answered I think the overall predictability of the story could have been overlooked.
Have you ever wondered if cold cases might be solved if we were able to travel back in time? That’s what the main character does in this cozy paranormal mystery. It’s a fun well written story, that makes me want to read more from this author. The narrator are also very good. I love the accents she does for each person, so they are easily identified when you listen to the book. I strongly recommend that you give this book a chance. “I received this book for free and are leaving a voluntary review”
This is a standalone story. I listened to this as I did chores around the house and town. I liked the premise of this book, succumb to a pre-arranged marriage or support yourself. Felicity aka Flick is a witch in a wealthy matriarchal family. Her grandmother tells her she has a marriage proposal from Merlin. Felicity isn’t ready for marriage and a child.
She gets a job solving cold cases and is required to travel back in time.
This kept me entertained and engaged throughout the book. Lots of twists and turns.
I really liked Felicity ,though she comes from a privileged background she wants to make a mark of her own. When her grandmother tells her she has to marry the man of her choosing ,or be cut off,Felicity must choose marry or get a job and go at it alone. She goes back in time when she received a job offer, she will meet some Fantastic Characters, including a ghost dog who can talk and change as he pleases. She only has week to find out who murdered her client , as a witch she also discovers using me his for good deeds is a wondrous thing to do.Look forward to more stories in this series
Flick is such a cool character. You immediately feel for her and the expectations her grandma has for her. The supporting characters are truly unique!!!!!! I fell in love with her buddy ghost Newgate!!!!!!! Every time I thought I had it figured out there was an amazing twist in the story that was unexpected!!!!!!! The time travel mystery solving witches is a stupendous idea!!!!!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!!!
This book has witches and time travel (two of my favorite things to read about). It's part of a series and is number two. However, you don't have to read the first one in order to enjoy this one. The main character has been told by her grandmother that her finances will no longer be subsidized so she has to get a job. When she received a package with clothes from several decades ago, she gets sent back and discovers a body with the help from a ghost.
Time Travel to 1999 I love this series. In this episode, we travel to 1999 London to solve a murder. This is a good mystery with lots of people with very good reasons to kill the vile victim. The magic is fun as are the main characters. This author always writes the best books! I purchased this book and it was money well spent!
This was a very cute story. Flick is a witch comes from a wealthy family. She wants to make it on her own and gets a job traveling back in time to solve cold cases. Concept was really cute. She was sent back to England in 1999. There was some English slang which I was unfamiliar with since I’m American but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. Good book!
I really enjoyed A Devil of a Time. It is an awesome book. It is well written. The plot of a witch traveling back in time to solve a cold murder case is such a unique and interesting idea. Flick is a great character. I like her strength and determination in solving the case and the choices she makes in her family and life. There are several plot twists that will keep you guessing until the end. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.
I enjoyed this so much I read it in one day...Would have been one sitting if work and dinner hadn't interfered! I really like Flick and her naivety, and the twist had me guessing right til the end.
When a young, hated, man is murdered in the poorest part of London, it isn't shocking for it to go unsolved. Enter the Time-Traveling Witches, Felicity, to solve the cold case. She meets some interesting people, and spirits, along the way, and solved the case.
I enjoyed reading this book very much and the actual murder mystery was tidied up very nicely. I was left with lots of unanswered questions about the main character Flick though so I really hope this co-authored series continues past the original 5 books to answer them.
Character flick is a true courageous person to show herself she had the skill to care for shelf. I found this to have been a good paranormal mystery & could read more on this series
I received this book for free for a honest review . I loved the characters and storyline. it was a good cozy read, that you could enjoy with older children. The author brought the characters to life. reccomend
Absolutely hilarious! Meeting Felicity “Flick” Warner and her somewhat overbearing family, then reading how Flick is introduced to her first time travel case, which is her first job and the life lessons she learns along the way. And the friends she makes as well. Cute and funny.
Love the storyline and characters. Even though each book could stand on it’s own, It is great how they all flow together with the thread of them all working for the same paranormal agency
My goodness, these Witch in Time stories are interesting and fun. The characters are likeable with plenty of growth potential. I hope there are more than just the initial 5 books.
I really enjoy this book could not put it down. Well written kept you guessing. Lots of twists. Characters were well described and relatable. Would recommend book and author. Loved it.
A good book. Can stand alone from series. I didn't feel a spark from the main character but the story had a good mystery with lots of suspects and a few surprises.
