I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I'll admit I love this series.

As with the other books in this series the flow is great and the characters are likeable. The story is still original enough to not be stale but still familiar enough so fans aren't alienated. My only complaint would be the one gratuitous sex scene that goes into more detail than needed. Otherwise this book has a little bit of everything. It's part historical fiction, part sci-fi steampunk, part mystery, part fantasy, and part horror. I look forward to the next installment and how it tries in with Pierce's past.

Last night I finished reading Bounty Hunter, Legacy Series - Book 4, by Michelle E. Lowe and had to take a few hours before writing this review as the journey back to the real world or reality took a bit of an effort. Michelle is masterful at her craft and takes the reader by the hands, heart and soul deep into the multifaceted plots of the story she is telling. I’ve been reading this series from the very beginning and it just gets better with each new installment. You can see Michelle’s growth in each new paragraph. One thing I adore about Michelle’s work is the fact that her characters are all inclusive. There are straight, gay, indigenous, characters of color and there's an undefined equality between the sexes that is missing in so many other books. There is no need to question a characters validity. There’s always a sense of anxiety and angst when sitting down to begin another read from this very talented wordsmith. Another thing I like about Michelle’s storytelling is that she is not afraid to kill off characters no matter how much you may like them. If the story calls for the end of a character, or for their thread to end (if you are reading this series you will understand that analogy - if you’re not reading them, I must just ask why not?.) she will do it unapologetically. Reading one of Michelle’s books is akin to watching the words come to life before your very eyes. It only takes a small amount of imagination on the part of the reader to imagine oneself as something of a voyeur in the ongoing story, as Michelle has imagination enough to get us through the rest. Vivid and fast paced narrative along with many twist and turns make this one hell of a good read. Looking forward to the book sitting beside me at this moment, The Forgotten Story (Legacy Series - Book 5). Open one of Michelle E. Lowe’s books and be taken away on a journey you will not soon forget.

About the Author: I'm a Georgia born native who has spent most my life near the Atlanta area before pulling up stakes and moving clear across the country with husband, Ben, and our two daughters. History piques my interests, especially European history. I’m a big nerd at heart. I read science-fiction and fantasy stories, and I love old B horror films. I also get a kick out of playing classic Atari video games, and I do oil painting as a hobby.

I’m a daydreamer and animal lover. I have two kitties, Nico and Max, and one very demanding guinea pig. I took up writing as a serious career choice twenty years ago, learning a lot and sharpening my skills along the way.

Michelle Lowe is a storyteller. She writes characters with heart and foibles which makes them very human indeed. Each person she writes brings something to the table whether that person appears in one scene or all the books in the series. There is great diversity and inclusion to be found here alongside some of the problems our real-world society faces today. Reading this book in the political atmosphere of the day brought the need for total equality front and center. There is, of course, lag time between writing a book and its appearing on the shelf, so this perception I had of it speaking out against injustice may be of my own creation. In general terms, it is something many of us think about all the time. In another time, I might not have recognized this aspect at all.

BOUNTY HUNTER is my favorite book in the series, so far. It is my understanding that there will be a total of six books with the last two coming out in the not-so-distant future. Pierce Landcross is the glue that holds the series together. He is a hero/antihero who skirts the law for the good of his family and friends. He is charmingly brash and bashful, and always lands on his feet.

The Legacy series exists in a world much like our own with recognizable places in a time where fabulous machines are in common use. This steampunk world is more than steam and gears, it is human ingenuity used to overcome hurdles large and small.

My number one rule in reviewing is NO SPOILERS. I believe that each book, whether standalone or part of a series, deserves to be an experience of discovery for the reader. Book blurbs aside, my goal is to make you want to read a book.

I will confess to having somehow missed the third book in the series, so it is now on my TBR (to be read) list. I really don't like to read a series out of order, but sometimes that does happen. Although there is continuity from book to book, I do believe any one of them could be read on its own merits and provide a satisfying read. I do suggest that you start with the first book, LEGACY, and work your way through the series.

Pierce Landscross finally escapes England leaves all his enemies behind. The Apache Sea Warriors ferry him and his family to Mexico. By now the supernatural events in his life have been partially explained, but the real reasons are still a mystery. As luck would have it, he gets into trouble once again. This time it is Indians, bandits and a dead God that fancies his wife. Lovely stuff. Recommended reading.

Brilliant. There are some books that you just can’t pull yourself away from with the need to find out what’s going to happen, and this is definitely one of those stories. The book has a combination of great characters, and very unique story line. I especially enjoyed the race with all the unusual machines in it, and the goth ghosts add an interesting element that really grabbed my attention. Michelle E. Lowe has done a fabulous job with all the books in this series.
Pierce Landcross probably thought he leave all his troubles behind in Europe when he decided to travel to Mexico. Everything seemed great when they first arrived, and his main priority was looking after his pregnant wife Taisia. However, he wasn’t to know there were forces beyond his control working against him. Unfortunately for Pierce, Gog, a goth ghost became infatuated with Taisia. All Gog had to do was get Pierce out of the way and he could have Taisia as his own. However, Taisia isn’t the only one that has an admirer after her, as Pierce also has a woman that has caught his interest. However, it’s not long before he finds himself in trouble with only one option of getting out of it. There is a lot to like about this book, and I’d certainly recommend it as a very entertaining read. 5/5 Star Rating.

Foiled again by the partial review "save" demon...losing everything to, maybe this time, the void. So...reconstructing...life and a holiday interrupted the reading of this - it's an easy read and the differential from start to finish dates doesn't reflect that. I got a review copy of the first in this series (Legacy), after seeing in the description "Steampunk, Fantasy" and I did not think it had much of either, but the author told me that she added more as the series progressed. And that she did. Ramped up the steampunk and the fantasy in this one. Half a world away from the origins of the stories allows some creative turns.

When we last saw our protagonist, he was leaving merry old Europe for a new life in Hawaii with a new wife and an old family (read the stories...I'm not spoiling). We pick up the story as they stop in Sonora, Mexico...but not the Sonora of 1843 that we know. As I said, Ms. Lowe ramps up... probably more appropriate to say gears up ... the steampunk element. At the same time, the fantasy takes yet another turn (again...read the stories... or someone's synopsis if you're of the TLDR sort) or three.

Side adventures abound; plot twists evoking a 1930s cliffhanger serial vibe at times to me; more hints as to the primary title in the series - but only hints...must needs read the rest to find out everything, I'm guessing.

Warning to parents: along with the steampunk and fantasy ramping, the quite adult content of a few small passages is also ramped. Minimal, but present.

Alright so here we have the fourth book in the Legacy series. Each book has such a variety of characters; a real representation of everyone: Scottish, British, Russian, American, Native Americans, Hawaiians and more. Then you have realistic relationships between parents and child, newly wed couples, co-workers, and between friends. Add in some relevant issues, like women's rights and racism, stir briskly and you have this book.
For Pierce this was supposed to be a quick stop over while getting to his new home in the Hawaiian Islands. It didn't go so well. At one point, I said to myself, Really?! For heaven's sake, this guy cannot catch a break!
This is a real test of Pierce and Kaisia's marriage. When a god decides that Kaisia should really be his wife, things get out of hand fast. How's a guy supposed to compete? Especially when he doesn't know the game is even being played until the end.
When the Gog sets up Pierce to be the fall guy for an accident that happens in a race that is the steam punk version of the Stark Expo meets the Red Bull Flugtag, he has to think fast to save not only his own skin but that of an Apache kid. Thanks to his new mate Jaxton, he goes from the hunted to the hunter. He's a bounty man!
So he has to get the bad guys (and girl), save his mate Jaxton, the Apaches AND stop a god from snatching up Kaisia.
Whew! What a ride!
