The refining love story of Christine and Joe. Book 6 of 6 in the Jersey Strong series. I did not like this one. It a story of two people who one love each other and got a divorce but still love each other.
Although it was slow at times I enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and likable enough that I wanted to know what was going to happen to them. I thought the end was a little predictable.
DNF'ed a few chapters in. ALL of the MCs are complete a**holes. All of them. Hardly ever read about unlikeable characters. Disappointing ending to the anthology.
It shows this book was written by an experienced storyteller. It has so many details and nuances, different scenes of drama, humor, understanding, family love, teenage stubborness, etc. It was a joy to read and accompany Christine and Joe on their story to be together one more time. Joe and Christine had been very happily marrIed and then their marriage went on the rocks. In the beginning we only know that Christine walked out on the marriage six years ago to pursue a successful carrer in celebrity journalism. Even though divorced, they still jointly owned one house in New Jersey. They run into each other when they went into hiding from the public in the house, each for different reasons. As the book develops, we learn more details about their lives and the reasons why their marriage failed. I rooted for Joe and felt compassion for Christine in her success and loneliness. Joe, although still hurting and longing for Christine, still was the better off because his life had meaning. Once he saw Christine again, his life was whole again. It was wonderful to read about their road to being back again and the cast of interesting characters who were in the book.
I loved it. I wasn't sure at first but as I got further in the story, I really liked the characters. The story was also good, how it developed and how the characters dealt with the situations.
