George is almost 18 and has a giant chip on his shoulders. Missing the boy he was and the man he needs to become, his parents send him to Greece for the summer to work in the family sponge diving business.
Christine is beautiful, polite and everything her parents could ask for. But, she’s looking for a bit of adventure. When the handsome American shows up in town, she knows from just one look that the adventure of a lifetime just arrived.
Quickly George realizes how different things are in America than Greece and that maybe he isn’t as much a man as he thought himself to be. He works hard to help the family’s business and because he’s finally found a reason to want more from his future . . . Christine.
Christine knows what she wants from the future . . . a big home filled with lots of children and a husband she can care for. She knows that home will be wherever the man she marries lives . . .and she’s hoping that’s with George.
But with the summer ending soon, an ocean coming between them and friends and family who think they know best intervening, can George and Christine really have a chance at a happy ever after?
Under the Stars was one of the sweetest romances I have read in a long time. I have really enjoyed the Iron Orchids series and seeing how Mana and Pops got their start was thrilling . . . especially after having watched how their love story still thrives decades later after raising a houseful of children. Watching this couple when they were younger gives readers fabulous insight into how their act as heads to their large and loving Greek household, where love always rules, even if it is tough love.
Honestly, I started Under the Stars and couldn’t put it down. I stayed up way to late reading, but it was totally worth it. Sweet, heartwarming and a glimpse into the past of some of my favorite book characters, Under the Stars was a brilliant read. 5 stars
