What could a fabulously wealthy heiress possibly do when an alien monster takes up residence in her pool? Call a Cyborg Monster Hunter, obviously. OBVIOUSLY. Little did she know that she just hired a monster to take out another monster.
Naomi Lucas is an indie author. She loves being creative whether it’s with painting, writing, or making little jingles about her dog, Barracuda, or her cat, Daliah, in the car.
Lucy Larksweet, multi billionaire heiress, returns to her state of the art secure billion dollar childhood estate to find a squatter has taken up residence in her pool. Unable to evict the interloper by traditional means, Lucy contracts EPED (Earthian Planetary Exploration Division) to evict the monster in the pool.
Moss Johann knows it will take a monster to get rid of a monster which is why he takes on his organizations latest assignment. In all likelihood the wealthy client is over exaggerating, but for the amount she's willing to pay, Moss can tolerate being her pool boy.
Things get complicated when Moss starts to develop feelings for Lucy. If she's freaked out over a minor water monster, what will she think when she sees the real deal?

Supplemental installment in the "Cyborg Shifters" series currently free on Amazon. Having read most of the other installments in the series, this is a decent stand alone installment for readers to get a feel for the overall series.
While short and sweet (no page count but reading time ~ half hour for me), I enjoyed the overall reading experience though would have appreciated more depth, glimpse into back stories for each of the characters, and a different ending (so much potential for an alternate ending beyond the romance elements that could have served as a logical bridge for future installments of the series but realize I'm saying this as a backseat quarterback).
Basically a Beauty & The Beast sort of romance, this author does feature a different type of hero (monster, spiders, reptilian, etc) who have been fused into cyborg beings through no fault of their own. The unloveable, or so they feel, who meet that special someone that has them hoping (even if they don't outright admit to that) that they are worthy of being loved.
With all that being said, I'm a fan of this author for the above reasons. An author who can feature a creature that has no business being the hero of a romance tale taking on the whole "white knight hero" deserves to be heard and read about. Throwing in the cyborg aspect doesn't hurt either. lol.
One last thing. The author did tone down the "ick" factor attached to some of her other featured heroes and the solo erotic scene in this story does have some impressive heat but as a short story skimmed the surface so don't expect depth to the world building or actual romance. End result, while readers can gain insight into they type of "monster" cyborgs featured in other installments, it does give potential readers a taste to tease into grabbing other installments like Shark Bite which I loved.
Oh, man. This book gave me a happy. A shapeshifting, possessive cyborg with a sense of humor and a softer side? THIS IS WHAT I DREAM ABOUT.
Seriously. Moss and Lucy were adorably sweet together. Sure, sure. He's a genetically modified abomination according the bulk of the galaxy, but he's a sweetie all the same. And Lucy? She might be a heiress and have access to an obscene amount of money and resources, but she's kind hearted and not willing to stand by while someone she could potentially care about puts himself in danger for her.
Which leads to a few tense moments between the two after she rushes in to save him. And by "tense", I mean sex-ay.
You know what? I like that's she's totally unfazed by his shifted form. She's just like "that's cool, man, but did you SEE the giant plant thing? Crazy, huh?"
I got a kick out of this one. Cyborgs and aliens and heiressess. Oh, my!
I was looking for a silly quick romance read and the description on this sounded perfect - a cyborg pool boy. I really wanted to like it. The fact that the cyborg shifted into a tardigrade/water bear was even better! I'm so tired of military/warrior save-the-world hot bod sci-fi romance stories. Ditto the alpha wolf/dragon/lion shifter stories. Ditto billionaire play-boy (with or without the dominant BDSM angle) romances. This novella was a sci-fi where the cyborg shifter turns into a micro-organism ... and the female character is the billionaire who can handle weapons (not a damsel in distress). Furthermore, there is no world to be saved, no people threatened ... just a pesky plant ruining a pool.
But - even though I'm ok with Insta-love/lust if done right, this story took place in approximately a 24-hr period. Absolutely no reason why the two main characters would be interested in each other or any reason that would speak to them being good staying together. They just do decide to stay together forever. The female character is characterized as a trust-fund-baby/heiress (and woe-is-me all alone in her luxury bubble) but not in a way that is likeable. For example: oops - I put together a bachlorette party instead of a baby shower for my friend. I assume that's supposed to make her seem like a fun/out-there kinda girl with a silly/crazy life (other stories about her brother supporting that) but makes me wonder how unaware she is of anything outside of herself that she forgets her 'friend' is going to have a baby and is just focused on putting together a fun/sexy party. The male character immediately tries to take over her life (meets her and within minutes tries to drive her car ... at least she stops that). He essentially attempts the macho/alpha 'protect the little lady' thing. She stops his attempts and he isn't mad/condescending about that - but the attempts are there none-the-less and I just don't get why they would decide to be a couple and how this is supposed to lead to an HEA.
*sigh* I liked the story idea, but not the actual story.
*CAUTION* this book is for adult readers Cyborg Pool Boy is a really short romance about a spliced human and an heiress. Ms. Larkswest has inherited a huge estate from her deceased parents. The estate was the only thing she wanted because of the wonderful memories it hold for her. Ms. Larkswest was extremely upset to find a monster living in her pool and causing so much damage. She found EPED in the directory and they sent Moss. Even though this was very short, it is an opposites attract romance. It is very sweet and ends with a silly HEA.
Good...... I really liked Lucy and Moss, they had a great eclectic kinda chemistry, and if cyborg shifters can have fated mates,I’m sure they are that for each other..... But novella or not,it was just to short.... not enough world oe character building..... And personally I never really like or enjoy it when the couple seem to get together like 5 seconds before the story ends... Get together, then epilogue, The End... Aaaaaaaaa,No...
Liked it ,but there sooo needed to be more to this story.. What was surprising was just how light and fun this was.. This seems to be before Dommik was hired, but even soo with how dark all their stories were I didn’t expect this to be soo light hearted and fun ... If you have KU I definitely recommend, but it’s really short and I just wish there was more... I feel like no offense Ms.Lucas Lucy, Moss and all us readers need and deserve more... Thank you for this..
For a short story it was decent. I love most of Naomi’s books though I wouldn’t call this one my favorite, but it was ok. The intimate scene was a bit...we’ll call it strange. I liked both characters and would have enjoyed getting to know them better. Writing was good, which this author is good for. The descriptions were clear enough for me to get a good mental visual and the overall plot was good for being so short. I removed one star because there were a few pieces of dialogue between the two that just absolutely did not make sense to me no matter how many times I re read to try and see if I missed something. That and the fact that I had to google what a Tardigrade was. Which honestly was kinda a huge turn off once I got the visual. But I love this author so much I chose to ignore that part. Overall if you’re a Lucas fan it’s a decent read to get your fix in for the next one she comes out with.
It was short, really short which means I didn't get enough information. Even so, it was a cute futuristic tale. Lucy is an heiress who moved back to her childhood home following her parents deaths to find a monster plant living in her pool. When she and her androids are unable to eradicate it, she hires out for the job. Moss arrives and takes out the pool monster so easily it's almost unbelievable, except he's an indestructible cyborg shifter and can withstand an apocalypse several times over which is normal for his species. In the two days it takes Moss to study and kill the pool monster, he and Lucy find themselves attracted to one another and the book ends with them getting married.
Again, it was short and so much was missing to make the book that much more enjoyable.
Why is this in a virgin hero shelf? Did I miss something? This is not sarcasm. If you read this and you see something that indicates he is a virgin please drop me a message. I will read it again.
Anyway… this was a shorten version of her longer books in this series. I didn’t like it as much. I think because these people were too happy and well adjusted. I prefer the other cyborgs who do not feel worthy of their lady’s love. And I really prefer the virgins who make love reverently.
This was a basic meet, fall in love and bone story. Except one is a shifter cyborg and the other multi-billionaire. Hot sex, yes. But not as hot as some of her other books.
I love the work by Naomi Lucas! This book and the series are marmite! You will either love it or find that this doesn’t suit you. It is an author and series that you have to try because you could be missing sooooo..... much
This is a presequel to a growing series. If I could award 4.5 stars I would only because others in the series are a 5+ and are amongst my absolute favourite books.
No spoilers here. Read the blurb and take a leap of faith!
Beautiful and super rich Lucy arrives at her favorite estate on a private planet. She finds out that a plant monster has taken over her pool! Gorgeous Cyborg, Moss takes on the job of flying out to exterminate the problem from her pool. This was a fun read for me. I loved the chemistry between them and the action. I love all of Naomi Lucas' Cyborg Series. They are so hot and romantic!
If you have read any of these books then you know what to expect but if you haven’t this is definitely the perfect 1st book. I just finished book 4 and came back to this one and this book was actually written after book 5. I really liked it and was just as good different/unusual as the 1st 3 books. Book 4 was tame in the out there factor compared to these. But if you want something different and not the same shifter books read this series!!!
Very short, but very enjoyable! I would like to know more about them marrying publically, since the others human/cyborg couples were all about discretion I thought it would be problematic... Lucy and Moss's backstories are only hinted at, since it's a short story, but it's enough to make them lovable (especially Lucy... I want her pajamas 😂)

Really enjoyed this short from the cyborg shifter series, I'm eagerly awaiting Zeph and Cyphers stories and any Minotaur books. Naomi lucas is such talented author, she sucks you right in from the first chapter! I would highly recommend giving this book and series a read.
Sexy, funny and always adventurous. I really enjoyed this short story that takes place in the cyborg shifter world. It looks like it takes place before Dominic 's story which is the first in the series. This one was light hearted, playful and passionate. I love that these cyborgs recognize theirs mates and will do anything for them. Great short story.
This is so bazaar… And I love that about it… But tardigrades? They are cool at all, but I just can’t find anything sexy about them. I’ve seen close-up pictures of a tardigrade mouth, I don’t want that anywhere near any of my bits. There was a lot going on in this book. A man who is also a cyborg but can shift his form into a tardigrade…. there are just so many moving parts!
It is everything I could've hoped for in a short story from Naomi! Cute, fun, and some action, smexy action too! Loved it! Cannot wait for the next book in her cyborg shifter series!
I LOVE Naomi Lucas. Sweet lighthearted and totally awesome. come join the alien romance group on FB , we are nutters. But you will have a blast. Kate rocks! Miami's books are so awesome I 1 click all of them.
The flavor of her cyborg shifter series shines throughout this short story with sexual tension from first meeting. In each other the hero and heroine find what they didn't know they needed. It left me wanting another helping of cyborg shifters.:-)😊😉
This was a fun short story! I won't disclose what Moss is, but he is awesome!!! There is a monster in the pool and the heiress calls for a monster hunter. Of course a love story ensues. Loved it!
Can I just say that I love this book, not only because of cyborgs, shape shifting cyborgs at that, but tardigrades! The snappy banter, sparking heat, and general destruction also add exciting layers to this gem. A high recommendation!
This was a short and sweet romance filled with intrigue. I still have no idea what a water near is but it was a cool description. The characters are entertaining as usual. I look forward to the next one.
