Thorough and well-researched resource covering the gamut from how to get started with RV life including choosing your vehicle and gear to insurance, mail, residency, and working on the road. This is a "living book" which means the author updates it several times a year--which is why it is only available as an ebook. She includes links to nearly every source she discusses, as well as to her own YouTube videos which expand on her information here. If you haven't seen her videos (CreativityRV), check them out and you'll be hooked. She does her research--so much so she was asked to do a TED talk.
I just retired my RV after four years full-time on the road. They were some happy years and I enjoyed it, but I wanted to spread my wings beyond the US so it was time to say my goodbyes. I started this book out of curiosity to see what another RVer had to share. I learned some things I actually didn't know before and highly recommend it. However, some information is repeated across sections, sometimes right behind each other. This happened several times throughout the book and negatively impacted the reading experience for me. Aside from that, great book!
What an excellent book! Lots and lots of good info with links to websites for all things concerning rv-ing! Robin put a considerable amount of effort into this book and made it so easy to get to the websites you are interested in! Thank you!
For various reasons an amazing number of people are living a nomadic lifestyle, traveling and living all or significant portions of the time in their RV, van, or other vehicle. The pandemic and the wild real estate market recently have only increased the number choosing this lifestyle. This book gives a run down on the things to consider, resources that are available, various options for the many decisions you’ll need to make (what kind of RV, where should I stay, what will I do for income, what to do for food, water, phone, internet) and the list of things could go on for a long time. Much of this information could be gathered in other ways, possibly even just by watching the author’s Youtube videos (if you have about a bazillion hours free to do that). I’d even advise checking out some of those videos. But what this book does is gives you the big picture of the things you need to consider, even if it is to look at it and say, “nah, that doesn’t pertain to me.” For example, traveling with a pet may not be something that interests you. The book also points the way to find more information if what’s provided doesn’t go deep enough for your needs. It serves as both a good introduction to the considerations and a reference, for knowing where to go to dig deeper. Definitely a book I’d recommend for anyone considering the lifestyle discussed.

As a follower/subscriber of CreativityRV, I really enjoy and appreciate all the information Robin provides. She is engaging and honest. This book is an amalgamation of her videos and so much more. The links are especially helpful and comprehensive. For me, information is power and planning is key and I do feel better equipped to make informed decisions.
As someone who has thought about the RV life for many years, this book will help mitigate some of my fears. I highly recommend this book, especially as a reference.
The text of this book is a good guide for someone just starting to think about the nomadic lifestyle. It gives you the major topics to think about. The person who is farther along the process will probably not find the text as useful BUT the links to organizations, dump sites and other resources is useful to everyone. I anticipate returning to this book often to access information that is compiled in one easy to access place. The fact that this is also often update with info allows you to always know the information is relatively current.
A Valuable Look at Life on the Road AND Your Dreams
I became a fan of Robin Barrett through her You Tube channel, Creativity RV, where she is like a best friend with a million ideas to help you rock your life on the road. After a few videos, I KNEW I had to read her book and it was better than I expected. She has done her homework and offers facts, tips, and tricks but, more importantly, she gets inside your head to sort out both your fears and your desires about life on the road. It’s a quick read but you will keep it for reference and Barrett plans to continually update this book over time.
Some good information. Lots of links which i wasn't expecting and hard to follow on my phone. One thing she didn't really address was safety for women out in the wild. I would like to hear more about that. I am not ready or even sure I would want to be a digital nomad, i'm certainly not going to sell my house, but I do like traveling and living in the RV for extended periods of time, so the information about the rigs and care and maintenance were really helpful.
This book is a must have for anyone thinking about hitting the road full time. The author must have spent hours and hours researching all of the topics she’s covered here. She also has put it together in a way that is easily understood and with links and tips to further your knowledge. Well done!
Resources abound in this book about living full time on the road. Many links included that she keeps updated as changes occur. Some repetition between sections, but that probably can't be avoided. Also, if you've been investigating this lifestyle there may not be that much new in this book. But it is convenient that it's all in one spot.
Full of very useful info. A reference book that I will go back to often while planning my great escape. I’m 63 and Taking care of my 90 year old mother so that she can continue to live in her home. I’m in the planning/dreaming stage. My time will come. Thank you for a very informative helpful book.
You can't become a nomad until you read her book. Every link works to info you need to get on the road. Robin is the best in the know nomad there is. I would follow her over a cliff because I know she would have something to save us on the other side! You can't go wrong buying her book or watching her on YouTube.
The book is clearly geared to the “I-know-nothing” RV travel beginner, which is fine. The author should make frequent checks of links and allowances/prohibitions due to the nature of the changing world the COVOD-19 pandemic has created. In reading the book, I found many that need attention.
Awesome book and great info for hitting the road as a nomad or traveler.
Every chapter of this book will s a learning experience. The updates that come in this online book are priceless. It’s nice to have all this information in one place.
Congratulations, great read and very informative, I love her down to earth writing style and you tube presentation! The links in the kindle version of the book are super helpful! I’m more knowledgeable and inspired....
I watch her on YouTube she’s very informative, this book is full of great advise and amazing resources.... recommend to anyone looking to RV full time or even part time
Very well written Robin. I’m not on the road yet but this book provides all the info and tools needed to research this new way of life. Thank you so much for all you do!
This is a well written book and very informative with tips and tricks included. Anyone who is planning to live off the grid, or even just travel, should read this book.
I am looking forward to meeting the author in person when I start my journey/adventure.
This is a really good book if you want to start living in a van! It is written specially for the nomads in the United States. A lot of the information was not applicable for me as a European citizen. Still, there was lots of realistic information on how vanlife is going to be!
This is indeed the book for newbies who want to be full time RVers. Loved it and the amazing links to resources at the end. Highly recommend this for the really good information and ideas to consider before starting your RV life.
Lots of information about RVing in one place. It updates also as author gets new data. This is a valuable resource from a gal who is living in her class C, mostly boondocking.
