Wolves Of Gypsum Creek #1

Third Time a Charm

Rate this book

A lone werewolf-shifter, banished by the villagers.
A young woman, with secrets to keep.
Their love is obsessive, all-consuming, and forbidden.

Abandoned by his mother as an infant, Jessie Rayburn has spent his life hiding out in the Appalachian ranges. He knows the rules: Avoid the villagers and keep his claws and fangs to himself. If the unspoken truce is broken, the villagers will shoot first and ask questions later. It’s a cold and lonely life, but he has prey to hunt and a land that calls his soul. It’s enough.

Until the day he scents her, and his blood is set alight.

She treads with the lightness of falling snow, too delicate to exist in his brutal world. His body draws tight as he follows her, but still he keeps his distance. She’s beautiful, otherworldly…untouchable. Something to be watched and worshipped from afar—until the day she finds herself lost, vulnerable, and surrounded by evil. No man or weapon will keep Jessie from protecting her innocence and destroying those foolish enough to harm her.

But a tiny voice haunts him in the dark. What if his obsession is the greatest danger of all?

Breath-taking, passionate, and emotionally-driven, “Third Time a Charm” is the first book of the Wolves of Gypsum Creek series. Lose yourself in this world of supernatural romance, and order your copy today!

There was no world-building, the plot was boring at best, the smut had no spice. The final sex scene actually had me laughing because I HATE feet and this happened...

"When he sucked her other big toe into his mouth, she gasped again. When he let her toe slide out of his mouth..." I physically recoiled at this.

Anyway, the writing and editing itself was good, which is why I gave 2 stars.

For adult readers
I liked this book for the most part. It showed how people can be when someone is different.
I have it three stars because of the ending, it feels unfinished.

Loneliness and despair turn into acceptance and passion! Jessie & Sophie each have a story to tell of betrayal and loneliness. Together they find acceptance and love! A well-written love story, the novel has a great story-line and message to deliver. What I didn't like about the story was the author made Sophie seem weak, and easily tired in her wolf shift. I didn't see the reasoning behind making her weaker and less in a transformed state. Every werewolf shifter is mighty, powerful, and fight to the very end, whether male or female and I believe Sophia would be a real problem to anyone or anything messing with her newfound mate! While there's nothing wrong with making her need to feel safe and protected, the author portrays Sofie much tougher than what's portrayed when there's trouble!

I really enjoyed this story. Jessie goes for his first shift and finds out he is a werewolf. No one wants anything to do with him saying he's a monster. He's been living alone since wishing people would accept him. Sophie comes to Gypsum Creek to be the teacher. She is not wanted by her family, because of her wolf. When she gets to Gypsum she thinks she is accepted until she befriends Jessie. Jessie has feelings for her, but an he take action? Sophie has run into trouble will anyone help her? Why do the towns people treat Jessie so bad? Why do they not help? I received a free copy for my honest review.

I loved this authors fairplay shifters series and was looking forward to this one and I wasn't disappointed it was a little slow getting started but once it started to rill along then it was all systems go and became a great story so do persevere with it.

Sophie and Jessie meet in trying circumstances he thinks she is too delicate for his world after all he is a shifter and a lone shifter at that But when danger stalks her he will protect her no matter what Will they have a chance at a life together. I am looking forward to more books in this series as this was a great start

What a charming story! Sophie arrives at Gypsum Creek to become a teacher in in sorting out the school runs into trouble when on her way home late one night - this is when Jessie saves her and in so doing they start a ball rolling that results in drama and also love! The drama is exacerbated by the fact that the town wants absolutely nothing to do with Jessie, believing him dangerous!
I really enjoyed this!

A different style of writing

I really enjoyed this book. I've never read anything by this author before. I really like her style. The world building is excellent. Coming from a hillbilly family, I can tell you she has a real insight into hill people. I loved the characters and the storyline. My only criticism is that the ending was a little abrupt. A final chapter telling about the couple a few months later would have wrapped things up nicely. Regardless, I enjoyed the story and will read the next book in this series.

Sophie arrived in town to become the school teacher in a one room building that needed a lot of cleaning and work. Then going to her one room cabin she was told to be careful and not go into the woods. After having car issues she decided to walk home only getting lost from there she met Jessie. Although she actually met him as a child year ago when she visited her grandma . Now they need to save themselves from the shifters

Sophie has come back to the mountain to live. She has been here when she was a teen trying to learn how to shift into another animal other than a wolf. Her father had arranged a deal for her to marry Duncan but she found out he was cheating on her. The town stays away from Jessie because he is a black werewolf and they feel he is evil. He helps her. She has to find her place in this town. A lovely love story of two people who need each other.

First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but it in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

Gr8 story!!! I really could feel the loneliness that Sophie and Jessie felt; Jessie with not being accepted by anyone and Sophie not being accepted by her own family. Sophie moves to Gypsum Creek to teach and just as she starts to get a little acceptance she meets Jessie when he saves her. I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up

A charming story

A young woman comes to a rural town to teach school and ends up in danger from some wolf shifters. She's a wolf shifter to whose family is afraid of her wolf. A black werewolf shifter is drawn to her and she to him. Can they survive the danger from these bad wolf shifters? I recommend this book for a quick fun read.

True Love Always Finds A Way!

This was a very good story about how roomers and fear of what you don’t understand can lead to mistrust of what people don’t understand. This was a love story in the making trusting one hart can turn into something lifelong!

Third Time a Charm

I wondered how Jesse wasn't able to shift on a regular when everyone else could. I think it's because of the fear he felt when he first changed. They should have gotten rid of Mac and Gus permanently. I'm glad Sophie stood up to the sheriff about Jesse.
