The new century means nothing to Ellen Mae Myers who prefers the companionship of animals over the company of people. At least that’s what she tells herself but in the deepest part of her heart, she longs for the comfort of a good man. How can she possibly find a man who will accept all the animals she cares for and love her for who she is? Niles Phinney survives a dangerous voyage across the Atlantic, towing exotic animals from the wilds of West Africa in order to keep the promise he made to his twin brother. En route to Seattle, he is waylaid by a blizzard in Silverpines, Oregon but it’s more than snow holding him there. After meeting Ellen Mae, he wonders if the promise is more important than the woman who captures his heart.

Ellen's love for animals isn't always understood by the rest of the townspeople. She adopts and cares for injured animals. Niles is coming back from Africa with a group of animals. His twin is waiting in Seattle for them to open a zoo together. Snowstorms have made train travel almost impossible. On the way, they have to stop in Silverpines. A chance encounter leads to meeting Ellen, a fellow animal lover and a girl after his own heart. He's now considering making Silverpines his home instead. Will his twin understand the change of plans? Will the Town Council agree to let them buy land for a zoo? Will he win the girl as well? This is a clean, sweet romance. I thought this was completely unnecessary to the growth of the town. And a bit weird. And how will the town be able to support a whole zoo. I'm also not a big fan of this author's style. It was ok but nothing special. Ifound I was rushing to get through it.
Niles is on his way from Africa to his twin brother in Seattle. He’s bringing some exotic animals with him but he stranded in a snow blizzard with the train near Silverpines. When he’s looking for food for his animals he trips over the pig of Ellen, who has a petting zoo. The love they have for their animals brings them together but what will he do, staying or going to Seattle? And the animals? When they made plans not everybody was very positive, will there be a solution? This was a great book. It was great to see the love and care the both have for the animals and each other. Again a story entertaining in this great series.
Ellen loved animals and everyone knew she loved and helped all injured animals at her home where she lived with her Grandfather Walter Myers. Niles was a very wealthy young man who was a veterinarian and had a menagerie of African animals who he had rescued while in Africa for seven years. Niles brought his train and animals through Silverpines on his way to his brothers in Seattle Washington, only to stop to fill with coal and water and then proceed on his way. While stopped Niles left the train to have a meal at the Inn when he ran into Ellen chasing a pig through town in a very very bad snow storm. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
Miles was bringing his group of African animals to Seattle Washington. They are not with a blue brother in Silverpines and unable to go any further because of ice and snow on the railroad tracks. He is able to put his animals in the storage area across from the train station. In the mercantile he meets the animal loving Ellen Mae. She is taken with him on site. He thinks she is interesting too. Where will the two of them go. Will they find love? This a very cute love story and you will enjoy reading it.
This is the 19th story in the Silverpines series. The heroine did not seek a groom in the Grooms Gazette as other women have done. In this case the hero ends up by happenstance in Silverpines. But their love for animals makes them a perfect match. This is a great series.
Niles- exotic veterinarian and Ellen Mae- takes care of local wounded animals. I enjoyed reading this sweet and humorous story that is well written with unforgettable characters. Their story has a satisfying HEA .
Lynn Donovan has done a great job writing a story that stands out for its unique tale. A zoo of exotic animals from Africa in Silverpines! Good characters and well-written plot.
A beautiful love story with so much spirit and joy. A beautiful couple who were meant for each other. So much love for each other and animals, what's not to love. Just great.
The story was really good but it needs some edits. Several misspelled words and quite a few incorrectly used words. Wheel barrel being one of them, it’s a wheelbarrow. Also the mayor’s last name is Garrison not Garret.
Great fun read, made me laugh and cry. Kept me entertained from the first page to the last page. Highly recommend this book and this series. You won't be able to stop reading.
I really enjoyed the story of their love for animals and each other. I also liked how it dealt with the sorrow and mourning of the residents of silverpine over the loss of timber town.
A veterinarian comes back to the United States after being abroad for ten years. Bringing back exotic animals that would not survive in the wild his train stops in Silverpines. - Babs
When I saw the title of this book, I thought not even to buy it. Why? I do not like zoos honestly. When people capture animals just so people can go see them, no. If the animal was injured and could not be put in the wild, ok, and ONLY if they are treated right.
Then I thought, I really need to read this since it is in the middle of a series. So I read it.
I thought Ms.. Donovan done a great job with this book. The main characters I thought were great. I liked their chemistry and how the story flowed. There were a few laugh out loud moments when I was reading this book. I am glad I bought it.
