I must say that this book is totally different from other love story books. Starting 2ith the cover, if you read the story properly, you will understand it's just appreciate according to the story. The book is full of emotions and thoughts that can touch readers heart. It can lead you towards the natural beauty of Shimla and the narration and storyline of the book is relly good. The best part of the book is it's strong characterization. The way the author portraited the character of Amman and Ayesha is just awesome. The language is lucid.
Starting with the cover of the book which shows an empty bench on a deserted street is apt to the interesting title as well. It hints the reader about the plot. The language is simple and crisp with a slow paced narration
Plot: is the usual love story with some twists. The protagonist Ayesha and Amman meet unexpectedly in Shimla, where sparks begin to fly between them. They start liking each others company but destiny has different plans for them. Do they overcome the obstacles to have each other for life? Do they part ways? The book will answer this.
What I liked? The kaleidoscopic approach of the author in capturing the emotions a child of a single parent undergoes. The picturesque scenes of the places which are being described to perfection by the author leaves the reader longing to visit the places once. The good characterization that has weighed every character equally.
What I didn’t like? The slow narration that could have been better. I found the story being unnecessarily stretched at places which could be avoided. The climax could have been better.
My verdict A simple storyline with a lot of twists in a unique style of writing makes it a nice one time read.
The title of the book When You’re Gone will leave one in thinking. As soon as one reads only the title certain things hits the mind. The cover of the book although simple and beautiful but is quite deep. The blurb of the book will make one sad but will leave you in the zone where you will be excited to know what actually happened and what will happen. To know the ending, one cannot wait to turn the pages. The book holds the story of Amman and Ayesha who meets in Shimla . Love blossoms between them but some turning happens. The author very well wrote the twists and turns of his book. The author has given each character equal importance and the story is normal paced. The description of places is beautiful. I visualized certain incidents in my mind. The language is lucid. It is an emotional and heart taking read at the same time.
We always imagine things great and beautiful but ones we successfully build them in reality, what we forget is to take care. Take relationships, for instance. When you're gone is one such tale portraying the relationship of Amman and Ayesha, who coincidentally met each other at Shimla. What I didn't like is the okayish narration as I find some incidents could have been better, if shortened. But it captures the readers emotions. The twists and turns seemed perfectly placed when both of them opens destiny's treasure. Characterization is decently good. Language is kept simple but the phrases could have been better.
Final Verdict : You would enjoy the ride and connect to the emotional journey.
From the start of the book to the end it is a sweet and soft read which is bound to mix in emotions. The cover is really nostalgic and the title really pulls you to read. The description of each event really is good. It goes about the story of two people meeting accidentally - falling in love and then parting away. And then comes the twists and turns of the story which have been written meticulously. The detailing of himachal and the conversations between them. The book seemed to be a bit lenghty at places.
A simple story with hope, remembrance and love which entangles us all.
I can't really share the entire story but it's a romance read narrated by the protagonist when he suddenly reaches his breaking point in an ongoing interview.
Then the story revolves somewhere in Shimla
It is unnecessarily dragged at multiple places.
The entire context is about love, denial and regrets.
I couldn't feel any emotions evoking through the read.
The cover is pretty. The title is attractive. Good characterisation. Extremely slow narration. Climax could have been better. Unnecessary dragging. It is a one time read. Lucid language. Blurb is crisp and interesting. Smooth flow of the book. Myriad of emotions. Book link
