Abandoned by her father, Rose is left with no option but to resort to prostitution in order to survive. When Martha discovers Rose is pregnant, she tries to abort the baby. Sheriff Lawson has been keeping a close eye on the saloon since he'd discovered some of the girls were possibly being held by force. When he hears Rose screaming, he does the only thing he can think of and snatches her up and takes her away. Forced to leave town so that the hired muscle from the saloon can't come after Rose, Lawson is faced with the tough decision of marrying the girl or posing as her father. Both have their merits.
Author's Note: This book is listed as book 4 based on the time frame at the beginning of the book. However, as it does cover a longer time frame than Book 5 "Annabelle's Mission", you may prefer to read that first. Abe, Isabelle and their adopted daughter appear later in this book, the explanation of how Angel came to be with Abe and Isabelle takes place in Annabelle's Mission.
Lawson rescues Rose from the saloon right before a forced abortion can be performed. He steals her away leaves town, marrying her to be able to better protect her. They get lucky when they meet the Bennetts. They are welcomed into the family and bond with them very quickly.
Lets start with the things I liked. There was quite a bit of action. Things never got stale or boring. Seeing the relationship progress with Adam and Sadie progress was a real treat. Lawson is a very sweet man and the Bennetts are an amazing and endearing couple.
I had a very hard time liking Rose. She was just too hard to understand and she was very child like. I get that that is because she is basically a child but it just didn't work for me with this one. I am very happy that her and Lawson get their HEA though.
I've enjoyed each of the stories in the Twin Reach series. As soon as I saw this was available I bought it. I couldn't stop reading. It's been a little odd that book numbers have differed in order of being released however it makes sense when reading. If you enjoy Western books and spankings then this series is for you.
Book is out of order READ BOOK 5 Annabelle’s mission before this one
The books are definitely out of order, you need to read Book 5 of the series: “Annabelle’s Mission” before this book. It will make the story fall into place better timeline wise. While the time frames for book 4 & 5 run parallel, this book has the story slightly ahead for the overall plot.
While i am a fan of most historical fiction, the fact that this series focuses on women who found love when it was so unlikely, make me love these just abit more. Very well written and simply lovely.
