I really wanted to love this one, but I had a really hard time with Nolan's character. I really liked Bridgette and how she was Jo's assistant (the heroine from book one) and how she got the job as an actress. I feel like we missed the build up of Bridgette and Nolan's connection and they were just into each other. One minute Nolan didn't now how to talk around her and the next they were together. Since they were together so early on in the book, I had a hard time caring about the rest of the book. I wasn't the biggest fan of some things about Nolan's past and didn't really see what was so great about him. It was fun seeing all of Nolan's brothers and the couples from the previous book, but I wasn't in love with this romance.

Nolan is the Sheeeeit!

Readers the McClain men need to be cloned and spread all over the world. Nolan's story was super fly. I loved his dramatic way. He was all Team Bridgette. The way he loved this woman was sexy personification. Any chance to see Big South and Jo is pleasant, add Leland and Kim, then all is right with the world. Unc. He is a fool, and he makes the story so much fun. I can't wait for Neil to make his love connection.

This one is definitely a darker installment in the series. I don't know if I was expecting it to be this dark. CW: abuse of child (memory), mentions of drug use, child neglect (memory), rape of minor (off page)

Ms. House definitely knows how to pack a punch in her stories. This is the 3rd installment in the McClain Brothers series and while I thought that Leland's book was dark this one definitely felt just as dark if not darker. It follows the first of the McClain twins, Noland, who is known for his streak of dating foreign white women. In the previous book we find out that he's attracted to Bridgette (Jo's best friend) and it picks up from there.

Bridgette and Noland have great chemistry; however, I felt a slight imbalance in focus on character development. I'm not sure if that's because Noland's problems didn't really feel like problems or if it's because Bridgette's background was so dark. The two previous books felt just a tad bit more balanced in terms of learning about the characters and watching them grow and develop. Bridgette definitely has some insecurities related to her past familial issues and I'm glad that Noland took the time to make her feel comfortable and cared for. It was interesting watching (reading about) Bridgette in this book because when she first appears in Let Me Love You she definitely has a care free spirit, but in this book readers watch that façade crumble. It was simply a coping mechanism for her traumatic past. In some ways it was hard to see what she went through, but it was also rewarding to see her have a partner that was willing to help build her up again.

There were two specific elements about this book that I found engaging. The first was Noland's interest in film-making. House was able to weave in some really interesting commentary about the film industry especially the casting of racially ambiguous or light skin women as leads to play Black roles. It's something that I and so many others think about and I was excited to see that topic discussed at the forefront of this book. Second, I absolutely loved that we were able to get a book in the series where the couple opted not have kids. Both Noland and Bridgette were satisfied with simply treating their careers as their children and I appreciated that. The first two books were definitely more focused on the HEA with children so it was nice to House shake things up a bit.

Overall, this was another good installment in the series. At this point Big South is still my favorite, but I did enjoy watching the romance and love grow between our hero and heroine AND it was great seeing Big South, Jo, Leland, and Kim make appearances.

Let Me Show You is about Nolan McClain, one of the handsome McClain twins. This one was good, but wasn't my favorite of the series. Nolan falls in love with Bridgette, the personal assistant and best friend to Jo McClain (heroine from Let Me Love You, first book in the series). Nolan is the business brother, with his knack for savvy investments and desire to branch into the entertainment industry. Nolan has had his eye on Bridgette since he met her, but no one takes him seriously because he's always seen "dating" foreign white women. Despite what his family thinks, Nolan very much loves him some chocolate, and lets his feelings be known for Bridgette when the time is right. These two are forced to work together when Nolan invites Bridgette to star as a supporting star (she's a budding actress) in a movie he is directing. Between the run-ins at Nolan's club and the time they spend together filming the movie, Nolan and Bridgette finally get a chance to see what they can do about the chemistry that has been lingering between the two of them.

This book was a bit heavier than the last books, due to the childhood traumas the heroine experienced. The author doesn't shy away from writing characters with pasts that a lot of readers can relate to. Nolan was patient with Bridgette, even when her past came back to haunt her.

The spice was still amazing, but at this point, I'm convinced this author just has a talent for smex scenes that I've never seen before. Despite the good smex, I didn't connect to Nolan and Bridgette as much as I did the past couples, so it wasn't quite a five star read for me.

TROPES: black romance/OWN voices/BIPOC; heroine with traumatic past; forced proximity; actress heroine; director hero; found family/supportive family; he falls first

TRIGGER WARNINGS: childhood rape/abuse (which led to preteen pregnancy); domestic abuse

Awesome story!

All of these super-fine McClain Brothers deserve happiness with their own special ladies! Now it's Nolan's turn. Lots of sizzling chemistry between Bridgette and Nolan. Unfortunately, she is so afraid that once her horrible childhood/past is revealed, Nolan will walk away. I highly doubt it. Nolan doesn't appear to be a cut and run kind of guy.

Yoooo let me tell you something right now. In the age of authors who are damn near misses nowadays, it is refreshing to find a new author who is about her business of writing and telling damn good stories. I have a few favorite authors who I still buy from to this day but unfortunately, there are many authors who I no longer buy because their stories are just a mess and I am not wasting my hard earned money on foolishness. Author Alexandria House is the absolute truth.

Nolan McClain (if you have read the first two books Everett "Big South" McClain and Leland McClain) then you know that every function Nolan came to his was accompanied by a white woman (Non-American who was Russian or Swedish I believe), so instantly his family and friends believed he didn't like Black women. Nolan never bothered correcting any of them on it, he just let them rib him about it but little did anybody know that Nolan very much has a thing for a black woman, and her name is Bridgett Turner.

Bridgett Turner, personal assistant to Jo (Big South's wife) and aspiring actress has her eye on the prize and that is to make it big in Hollywood, so yeah flings are fine with her but she isn't looking for anything long term. Bridgett has been cast in Everett and Nolan's movie as a supporting actress, Nolan feels this is his chance to get to talk with Bridgett and possibly ask her out but every time he is within arm's length of her, he can't speak coherently to save his life LOL!! Oh sure he makes some sort of conversation but it is never the one he has acted out within his own mind. Until he saves her one night from an almost sexual assault.

Bridgett is relieved but embarrassed about what has almost happened to her, Nolan wants to protect her and demands she presses charges against her would be attacker but refuses because her reasoning is being a new actress and fears it will all crash and burn before it truly gets started. This is where I fell for Nolan, he took it into his owns hands and but that dude to within an inch of his life (What's worse is he was a family friend and a big-time movie producer...So glad the author wrote about this and date rape drugs). Nolan steps up for Bridgett and in doing so, he is breaking down her walls and opening doors to her heart that have been closed off for as long as she could remember.

Bridgett and Nolan's story is amazing, hilariously funny, protective and loving. It was also good to see the other family in this book as well plus who can forget their crazy uncle who literally had me crying from laughter whenever it came to his scene LOL!! It was also great to see their sister Kim get her happily ever after (I hope I'm not speaking too soon).

Next up is Nolan's twin brother Neil who finally is ready to conquer his own demons and get the much-needed help that he has been avoiding for years and his family is right by his side.

Again this is an incredible story and it just keeps getting better and better.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

I loved this book. It was a good romance, for sure, but I just loved the characters. I loved the friendship the ladies had and how family oriented the brothers are. A.H. is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I can't wait for Neil's book.

3.5 for Nolan and Bridgette

I liked Nolan and Bridgette and their story was cute. I guess I’d gotten used to a certain level of angst in the prior two books. The courtship, relationship and level of intimacy is still one of the best things in this series. The McClain guys are really special. I wanted more explanation or a deeper reason to the device between Neil and Nolan. Maybe in the next book the author will enlighten the readers.
It was nice to have the whole gang appear and UNCLE LEE is still MVP. Undefeated. I loved the groceries advice he gave Nolan.

Let Me Show You is the third installment in the McClain Brothers series and I was super excited to return to this series as I had really had a fun time with this series. I have to say that this narrator duo is fabulous, I just love how well they narrate romance together and they do a gravitating vibe for these books. So I definitely recommend reading these in audio. This is where we get one of the twin brothers of the family and their story and I enjoyed it so dearly. Its a very low angst sweet romance. There wasn't that much drama like I was expecting considering how much drama was in the previous two books. I did find this one to be a great palette cleanser though. If you are looking for something more low key, than I definitely recommend grabbing this one. It didn't quite make it to a five star, but it was still a super solid read at 4 stars. I enjoyed this dynamic and that they both have acting careers. I am really enjoying this author's writing. I have found that many diverse romance these days tend to be so "agenda or politically" driven. But NOT this author. While there are subtle references, you can barely notice it and I respect that. I just want a good romance without all the other stuff and this author does it so well. She does handle the "black culture" in top notch form. There is a natural feeling to the story, the mix of dialogue and character growth that feels relatable. You can easily connect with these characters and I can't recommend this series enough.

Oh my goodness!

Can I start by saying Uncle Lee Chester for president?! He is the real MVP! 1984 says it all! LOL

But seriously, this book had me all in my feelings. The things that Bridgette overcame made me love her even more than before. Such a beautiful spirit who deserved unconditional love. A lotus is a true personification of who she is, grown in the mud but beautiful still. And Nolan is just amazing! Who knew all that was there? Alex never disappoints and this series continues to be amazing. Can’t wait for Neil’s story!

Alexandria House does it again!!!! When I tell you I’ve never laughed so much from a book! I really love the character development. I love how this book showcases love, friendship, family and brotherhood. I also enjoy how you get updates from the relationships from the previous books. It’s so refreshing to read about black men loving their black wives from head to toe, from the inside out. I love how black success and black excellence is showcased in such a positive way. This is a series that leaves you wanting more and in the best way. I love these McClain brothers and their wives. I’m ready to dive into the last McClain brother.

wow this hero is an asshole!!!
so he employed a guy in his movie, for whom he knows is suspected off as he explains "Cosby" behavior!!! later he leaves heroine with him and after he drugged her and the hero rescued her we should be oh so grateful...what about other women who don't have a guy who is in love with them to protect them from abuse, violation, and rape..fuck them that's what..
this happens early on and I couldn't care about anything after that
not even a tight-knit family & friends group could save this book!!

3.5 rounded up because I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed this one even if it was kinda problematic in some aspects. What I liked: the relationship development and pacing were great, they fitted well together and both helped each grow, they really were equals in the relationship. Consent was very well navigated between the two MCs. I really liked seeing the other brothers and the three girlfriends. The sense of family (by blood and found) was very strong. They both had a life outside the relationship and careers/goals which was nice in which they supported each other. I also liked that . The way they disclosed their background to each other was well paced, you don't blurt your secret to people on a first date. They communicated well and had fun. They were great. Now onto the not the so great. Nolan used to be a member of kind of brothel and it was not clear whether the women there were willingly or not. He stopped going as soon as he was interested in Bridgette but still. He also turned a blind eye to a film director raping women (he would drug them and then would take them to room that Nolan provided). When the director tried to do that to Bridgette, Nolan stopped it which was like too little to late in my opinion. He beat up the director for it (which was a bit the cliche of the knight saving the damsel in distress, that aspect got better later but still not great that she LOVED that he defended her by beating up someone) and threatened him so that he would no longer do that but then did not check whether he really had stopped and we know that other shady stuff happened at the club Nolan managed and he turned a blind eye to those as well and did not do anything to redress the problem or to make sure his club was a place free of sexual assault. I liked that they talked about colorism but the hatred of interracial relationship was a bit much. It rings true because there is this notion of race loyalty but yeah. Reading those books you have to suspend your disbelief because they are ALL loaded.

Did not like this one as much as the previous two - but I expected that early on because I did not vibe with Nolan like I did with South and Leland. He just wasn't as compelling of a characters as they were - in fact other than his love, affection, and loyalty to Bridgette - I sort of didn't like his character at all. But I enjoyed the story overall and I'm looking forward to reading the last two McClain siblings' HEAs. 3 out 5 wine glasses.

These McClain brothers just keep getting hotter and hotter! Nolan is the true businessman and finance wizard of the McClain brothers. He's close to his brothers Everett and Leland, and not as close as he used to be with his twin Neill. Having Big South the rapper and Leland the NBA star as big brothers has been great for them and their family; not so much with friends. Nolan was never sure if the women he was interested in were more interested in his big brothers. A lot of times that was the case, so Nolan kind of found his own friends that weren't familiar with the fame of his brothers.
It worked for a time, until he met Bridgette, his sister-in-law's assistant and aspiring actress. He was immediately attracted to her, but she was kicking it with one of his brother's bodyguards, so he didn't act on it. It didn't stop him from wishing, though.

Being around all the hot AF McClain brothers, Bridgette was a little jealous of her best friend Jo and new friend Kim for snagging their own McClain. She was happy for both her friends, but since ending things with Tommy, Everette's bodyguard, she was feeling a little lonely. With Nolan being very involved in the movie being financed by Everett's production studio, and Bridgette one of the actresses hired for the first movie being produced by the studio, they've begun working together and being in close contact on a daily basis. As Nolan and Bridgette get to know each other, the sparks really fly, and as much as they try to fight it, they're inevitable. Like the previous two brothers, this story is full of serious heat and dirty talk, and lots of love. You'll get the full family experience I've come to love with this series. The brothers' love between them, with all the mess they talk to each other. Everything they do is done with love.

I am truly loving this series, and new-to-me author Alexandria House. Jakobi Diem and Adenrele Ojo beautifully narrate this story. Next up is Kat's story, the lone sister in this bunch.

Nolan and Bridgette 😍😍 He wants her, and is a director to a movie. He's only dated and been with non-black women. She's an actress and African American. These two have insane chemistry. I loved the communication and maturity.

“The smartest McClain is really the dumbest McClain. I’d come here, pick a woman, mess with her for a while, and move on to the next. Always looking, searching for something I was only gonna find in you. I know that now. What I needed, what I always wanted, is you. I care about you, baby, have damn near since the day I met you. I have wanted you for just as long. I respect you. I don’t wanna do anything but protect you. Hell, I think I love you. Never been in love before, but that’s gotta be what this is, because I think I might die if I lose you, and I’m not playing. My fucking heart hurts right now just from the possibility of losing you.” Nolan 😍😍

“I’m gonna be okay as long as you never stop loving me.” (Her)
“I can’t. You’re in my soul now. You’re a part of me. I’ll love you until the day I die, and then my damn ghost will love you.” (Him)

I really enjoyed Nolan and Bridgette’s story! I think Ms. House handled Bridgette’s past abuse well, but I do wish there were trigger warnings just in case.

I could listen to Jakobi Diem saying “what up there nah” on repeat for hours lol, I freaking love Uncle Lee Chester. I lost it when he called them in “Costa Reefa”😂

These brothers are wonderful, and I love them all!! In this story, we got to meet Nolan, one of the twins, and he ends up having a relationship with Brigette, whom we met in a previous book. I love the fact that these characters all have a past that sometimes affect their present, and we get to see them work through these issues.

Bridgette and Nolan were both career driven and supported each other. Though they weren't my favorite couple of the series, I a lot of found value and enjoyment reading about them.

The McClain are a bunch of sexy, loving, family driven, and hilarious men!!! The smexiness in this series is top tier!!!

Not my favorite of the series so far but still a decent read. In this installment we're introduced to one of the twins, Nolan McClain, of the McClain Brothers. He's considered the smart and driven one of the brothers. His love interest is Brigdette Turner an inspring actress and Nolan's older brother, South, wife's best friend.

For me this book moved really fast and choppy. There was no build up to their romance. One minute Nolan didn't know how to talk around her and the next minute they were together. Nonetheless, I enjoyed their story and enjoyed the interactions with the other brothers and their spouses.

Be warned this book is a bit heavier than the others. Talks of child abuse/molestation, drug use and domestic abuse.
