Alfred White has a simple routine he follows methodically. He wakes up every morning at the same time and devotes the rest of the day to his job. As a young man focused solely on his carrier he works hard, keeps a low profile and welcomes reliability and repetition above anything else.
But Alfred’s ordinary life is suddenly interrupted one morning when he meets Pacific, a mysterious man who will change his life forever. Pacific is nothing like Alfred. He is nothing like any person Alfred has ever met. He bluntly questions Alfred’s pursuit of a life he doesn’t really want just to fit into a system designed to harvest time out of people.
Yes. Time. Pacific seems to know a great deal about time and the effects it has on people’s lives, and he is willing to share this knowledge with Alfred if the young man will accept a day of mentorship with him. Though Alfred tries to resist the mystery of Pacific, ultimately the journey Alfred is destined to take has already began.

Wicked time is a dark fantasy novella. Michele Amitrani, writer of the “Omnilogos” series, changed completely genre and dimension of his workpiece. This new story is about man’s life, lost dreams and research of meaningness in people destiny. “Wicked time” is a story to be enjoyed but, also, it is a story that will make the reader think. Like “Omnigolos” in this novella too we have a strong, “charismatic character” who has a purpose, and who uses his words wisely to make things move. In this first book will be this character to make the narration go on, but Michele’s stories characters are far to be statics and it is easely expectable that others characters involved in the narration will develop in the following books. “Wicked time” is a story about repetition and monotony, and the author uses these two negative features to make his story more interesting. Who reads this story will experiment many times a particular sense of “deja vu” which will make him/her more aware of the story’s mood, and of the main character’s feelings. The other element that make the story fascinating is, of course, the “charismatic character” and is words that develop more as a monologue than a dialogue with the main character. The balance between monotony and fascination is the best part of this story. This novella is far to end, there will be clearly other books to follow and important develop of the stories are to be expected.
I enjoyed this book so much and I was left behind with all my curiousity like “What will happen next!?” XD
Very different from his previous books, but still there is something in common that I like... Michele’s story always makes me think. There is always a theme behind the story and I find it very interesting.
I strongly recommend to try this book. Wicked Time is even easier to read since it’s way shorter than Omnilogos.
A good novel overall: My expectation for wicked time was a book with heavier fantasy elements and in my opinion most of those elements are gathered in the last few chapters. However this creates a positive effect helping the reader to understand the struggle Alfred goes through when trying to understand what Pacific does. Although the story has some negative points, some dialogues which could have been deeper and some moments that are quite predictable it sure has some surprising turns and a lot of questions left unaswered, what leaves me yearning for a second part. Overall, even thought it might not be the most thrilling book I've ever read, it's a good story that will leave you with tones of questions (if you are a little curious) and expecting a second part.
