Conspiracy Theories

Rate this book
Is the world we know a lie? Could the truth be something very different from the information we get from mainstream media and controversial history?
Whether it's the sinking of the Titanic, Shakespeare's true identity or the secrets of the Illuminati, Conspiracy Theories has something to capture the curiosity and imagination of every reader. As well as popular mysteries such as the Loch Ness Monster, this book explores the return of old beliefs such as the idea of a flat Earth, current affairs including Donald Trump and - in this revised edition - new information and evidence on the mysterious disappearance of Amelia Earhart the Moon Landing and the assassination of JFK.

I think this collection of conspiracy theories is a great place to start if you want a general overview of popular theories, rather than specific ones in depth. I think they cover quite a broad number of theories too which is good, but in certain entries, I think they should specify what makes it a conspiracy theory. For example, it has a great entry on Mary, Queen of Scots, but what about her life was a conspiracy theory? I believe the book meant the murder of Lord Darnley and whether or not Mary conspired to have him murdered. I just think with certain entries it needed to be clearer. Having said that, I think this is a great "all around" book.

Basically a catalogue of conspiracy theories. It covers a wide range and is presented well enough, but there's very little depth here. Works well as a base camp to explore further from

While not being entirely sure which book called Conspiracy Theories by Igloo Books I read (there appear to be a few) it was quite the worst expensive cash in on the subject possible, some of the many problems are
It doesn't seem to know what a conspiracy theory actually is, it seems to just bung a random selection of things together under General headings so that it believes that the fact nobody knows what the Loch Ness Monster is renders it as conspiracy
It is badly researched, to give a random example in the page on Jack The Ripper it claims the police thought the Dear Boss letter was from the killer, in reality they knew it was from a journalist fairly quickly
It is barely written, most chapters consist of a few paragraphs bulked up with photographs that often have little to do with the subject.

In short this gives cash ins a bad name and should be avoided at all costs

This book is a great starter point for anyone getting into conspiracy theories. Each subject is broken down into the most popular events and stories of the past that have caused a stir in the conspiracy world. I used this book to find topics to later read further on - such as Planet X and the New World Order.
The topics of discussion weren't at all detailed enough to form an opinion and some of the accompanying photos and captions were not mentioned at all in the body of the description so I had to research their relevance online mid-read.
Overall, it provided me with a decent insight to some topics I will definitely be reading into further - the world is a fascinating and crazy place!

This book is pretty informative, vivid, and easy-reading as you will see many photographs on each page within not-so-many writings. However, I find most of those theories are abstract, nonsense, and flat as they cannot even show any proof of the accounts.

If wondering enough to discover the world's remained mysteries and unsolved questions, this book might be the one to satisfy your curiosity.

A good starting point for people, interesting ideas but for those who are looking in depth information this book isnt for you. A lot of theories have been covered, but no striking information that you couldnt find from a quick wikia search on common theories

Good book as a starter for someone who interested in conspiracy theories. But, for enthusiasts like me, perhaps we need a better book that will tackle the issues in depth.

Interesting in parts, not an in depth look at anything really, more like a beginners guide.
Handy if you need a starter before you explore more into a theory.
Definitely not a waste of time!

I enjoyed this but it was so poorly edited, there were so many uncorrected mistakes which I found so annoying.

So many interesting topics though which makes me want to do more research on them.

A little flimsy didn’t really come up with anything I didn’t know already. Although a good oversight of all the main themes.

I don't know who wrote this, but it was clearly someone who didn't know how to write. This felt like reading a child's schoolwork, and the information didn't really go into any depth so I decided very quickly to put this one down.
