Excellent summary of the Second World War, published just after VJ Day (VJ Day is in September 1945, book publishing date is in November same year). Authors/compilers skip some of the history about Hiroshima/Nagasaki/Manhatten project, likely because this was essentially current events to the authors and was likely still unfolding during the writing of this book. All the accounts in this book are striking in that they were all compiled into this book in the same year the war ended, giving the book a very contemporary feel. This makes it feel fresh and vibrant, immersed in the period, as compared to other more retrospective examinations of this period.
