Necromunda, a nightmare industrial hive world where brutal gangs clash in desperate battles to increase their power and starting with the decadent ruling classes. In the lawless regions of the Underhive, only the toughest and most cunning can survive. Meet Kal Jerico, a bounty hunter who makes a living by taking on the job on one else would dare touch. With his partners - the cunning halfbreed, Scabbs, and the former noble turned ganger, Yolanda - Kal goes toe to toe with madmen, mutants, and worse in a series of dystopia and frenetic adventures.
This omnibus edition includes the novels Blood Royale, Cardinal Crimson, and Lasgun Wedding.

Kal Jerico is Necromunda's most infamous bounty hunter. The book version of Malus Darkblade was so much better than the comic, but the general gist of the novels more or less tracked with the comics. I was really hoping the Kal Jerico novels would be superior retellings of the comics. To my surprise, that was not the case, these were brand new stories!
Blood Royal - Kal is the illegitimate son of Necromunda's Imperial governor, Helmawr. (The same Helmawr of the epithet "Helmawr's Rump") Kal's father has many, many children, and one of them has revealed himself to be a bloodthirsty maniac. Governor Helmawr puts a bounty on him, and who better to track him down than his half-brother, Kal? Kal won't go it alone though, he's got his fellow bounty hunter Yolanda with him.
Cardinal Crimson - Once upon a time Kal dropped an opponent into a vat of acid. You'd think that'd be the end of it, but no: Cardinal Crimson is back! Kal isn't dumb enough to go up against someone so heavily armed, but unfortunately he doesn't have a choice: He's so deep in debt, claiming the bounty on the Cardinal is Kal's only option.
Lasgun Wedding - Governor Helmawr is dead, so Kal Jerico has to take over as lord of Hive Primus. The other spire nobles force him into getting married. Kal Jerico obviously doesn't want to get married, but once upon a time Yolanda was herself a spire noble...
I felt it was unnecessary to repeatedly describe the shapes of the female characters' breasts. I also didn't think it was necessary to repeatedly remind the reader that the women had breasts. Other than those annoyingly outdated tropes, this book was good fun. The game of Necromunda is set within the Warhammer 40k universe, yet each hive on each planet is different. None are as unique and diverse as Necromunda. The whole thing is easy to get into if you're into chases & escapes, even if you don't know anything about WH40k.
The world of Necromunda has not aged well. Some of the jokes and tropes are not as good as they used to be, but taking it in context this is still a fun read and despite being three books in one I ran through it fairly quickly.
