I’m so totally screwed. The hottest man I’ve ever seen just came onto me. And he’s my cousin.
I never meant to be so naughty. It started as a game. My cousin tried to get me into bed, and I put him in his place. Turns out his place is with me. I couldn’t say no to that jazzy voice and sculpted body. His abs are hotter than California asphalt, and the second he touched me I turned to goo. But our parents are gonna murder us. Especially when they find out I’m pregnant. Sam’s music won’t pay our rent, and his family’s billions won’t help if his accounts are frozen. There’s no way out of this, so we’ll just have to keep our secret. But Sam’s done with secrets. He’s ready to tell, even if the crud hits the fan. I just wish I knew where it would fall.
This was not what I was expecting. This is definitely not a trope I like. I really kept waiting for someone to say say oh by the way your aren't really related. However, that didn't happen. The good thing is that in the end everybody was okay and they were happy. Even if it isn't something I would be okay with but then this is a forbidden romance.
**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** I absolutely love Taboo relationships. This one started out fantastic. But less than half way through I was having to force myself to finish it. It took forever because I completely lost interest when it lost its sexy edge and became a soap opera about a spoiled rich boy. Sam made me want to slap him. Pregnant or not, I'd have left the bratty drunk. Such a disappointment after such a hot start.

I'm going to start off by saying that some of my problem may be the fact that I wasn't able to break through this taboo as much as I thought I could. That being said, I really didn't sense any chemistry between the characters for most of the book. I kind of felt it a little bit towards the end, but not as much as I expected to or felt that I should. I also didn't really care for either of the characters. Sam could be immature and whiny. He still could have had a career involving music. He could have taught guitar and written song lyrics for artists/labels, for example. It might not have been the career he intended, but it still would have involved music and avoided the corporate rat race. Kay, on the other hand, could be a bit self-righteous. The writing was also rather repetitive.
I do give kudos to the author, though, for taking on the subject matter which according to some of the research I ended up doing on it, the taboo may be based on incorrect presumptions. However, this research also led me to find that the book should have been set in a different state. Arizona only allows marriage between first cousins if both partners are over 65 or if at least one of them is infertile (obviously not the case here). Even if the couple were to be married in another state, Arizona would not recognize the marriage. Cohabitation and sexual relations between first cousins is also prohibited in Arizona. Therefore, not the best setting for the book. If the author was going to address this subject matter, she should have also addressed such issues as legal status of a first-cousin relationship as well as potential congenital health risks of offspring of such a relationship. Although she did cover the issue of what family/friends/coworkers might think and how they might react (somewhat superficially), she didn't address either of these other issues. When Kay and Sam were discussing their relationship with their parents would have been a perfect time to raise these points. Failing to address them at all is problematic.

A little taboo and then some. A romantic fling between cousins turns into so much more. Plenty of drama and friction between friends and family who aren't supportive. Two people whose love was so strong that they overcame all obstacles. Strong characters and a steamy read that I read as a reader copy via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review.
This was definitely a hot, sexy and somewhat kinky story by this awesome author and I liked every single minute of reading this delight ;) The chemistry, intensity and bond between the main characters, along with the obvious obstacles they must overcome, makes this story a great one! Can;t wait to see what's next from this amazing writer :)
This is the first book that I have read by Mia Ford and it held my interest from the very beginning to the end. It will not be the last book of hers that I will read.

Be clear before you pick this book up that the content matter delves into areas that are uncomfortable for some readers due the taboo nature of the relationship that develops between Kay and Sam. Filthy Dirty Brother is at its essence the story of two twenty-something individuals trying to find their way in the world while struggling with a forbidden relationship, parental expectations, societal norms, and career goals. The pair faces struggles throughout the story that are common for a couple beginning to build the foundation of a lasting relationship such negative influences from friends, disapproving parents, loss of personal aspirations and unplanned pregnancy. The story provides a great deal of detail about the characters thoughts and emotions which definitely adds to story line as do the authors extensive descriptions of the people and places Sam and Kay encounter.
Sam has a strong personality and is willing to stand-up and be accountable for his beliefs while Kay is more circumspect in her willingness to engage in the relationship due to its taboo nature and her fears of loss of acceptance. That said the chemistry between Kay and Sam is blazing hot from the start and remains so throughout the book. The one area where I found the story lacking was in the initial promise of Kay being the more dominant partner in the sexual aspect of their relationship which was alluded to several times at the beginning of book . While Kay does at times exhibit control sexually that premise neither continues to build throughout the book nor is it even carried forward to the end. Because I felt that this was touted in an important component of the appeal of the relationship for both Kay and Sam from the start, the failure to fulfill this element of the story line impacted my enjoyment of the book and my overall rating.
Overall, I found the book to be a well-written, well-developed journey of two people finding their way to happiness despite what at times seemed like insurmountable odds. I was able to relate to their struggles and cheer them as it was very easy to become invested in Sam and Kay both individually and as a couple.

Sam was planning to have sex with his cousin, Key from the beginning. He just forced her mind to accept him and was really manipulative. He could go from "oh, I would fuck this girl so good (he would think about it in details too) if I haven't already decided to fuck Key" to "I love Key even though I find other girls sexy and fuckable"...
Yeah, he just wanted the forbidden fruit, he said so himself. He said that's exactly why he planned to fuck his cousin, not because of her as a person or because he genuinely likes her, but because it's forbidden and he would love to go through that drama and tension. They never even talked or anything in over 10 years, so we have proof that all he wants is to be in a situation that will make his life eventful, that's Sam for you.
Key was a horny girl, she liked the attention and the non stop pressure to be fucked (sorry for the language). The author tried to give her a purpose other than fucking her cousin but nope, she failed miserably because all Key thought about was Sam and how much she was turned on by him.
This book is sex plus one disgusting character. This story is not about two people being wrong for each other, this story is about two people having this kind of relationship BECAUSE it's wrong and forbidden. They are not in love with each other, they are in love with the forbidden aspect of being together.
This was an OK read for me. It is a taboo romance between cousins which I am aware will be a big turnoff for many readers, so be aware going in what you are picking up to read. For me personally it really wasn't an issue. I do like things neat and tidy though, so legal and consensual is a must and I have to say that the legal part of this relationship was questionable. However, I had more issues with the characters themselves and their chemistry. I really could not feel that great of a deep connection between Kay and Sam. Not enough that I felt it was reasonable to assume they would put everything on the line to be together. Plus, I would have liked to see more maturity from this couple and I'm not talking age, I'm talking behavior and mental maturity. I think that would have helped to sell me on them being committed and not just a train wreck waiting to happen once the thrill of the forbidden wore off and reality settled in. So for some readers this will be a winner, others a loser and for me an incomplete. This is my frank, freely posted review.
What is it when you know something is forbidding, it just makes you want it more. And that no matter how or what you do to change things its always still there in the back of your mind and heart. That's exactly what Kay was trying to do. She knew how wrong society thought it was. How many people thought it was disgusting, wrong and simply not what people did. But sometimes in life you just have to do what makes you happy, and not worry what others may think. I have to say Mia Ford knocked this one out of the park. It sizzled till the very end.
I don't know why Sam is referred to as Brother in the title.... when he is Kay's first cousin...
Both Kay and Sam really annoyed me for the majority of the story. Both came across as self absorbed, annoying, immature young adults, with poor lifestyle and eating habits! Even BBW can eat healthy some times! I was also perplexed with the initial description of Kay as strong, not emotional, never really crying, by it then we are exposed to scene after scene of Kay crying. There were a few small editing errors, and I recommend checking the difference between 'then' and 'than'.
The writing was horrible, there were so many mistakes. I couldn't get through even the first chapter, I thought I would keep an open mind but through the second chapter, I was done. The sex scenes god bless her. I wouldn't recommend reading this book. If it was possible for me to give a negative star I would have definitely given it. Even after so many warnings from our fellow readers, I decided to give it the benefit of doubt but, the book did let me down. The storyline sounds a little interesting and the book would have definitely gone better if not for the writing.
3.5 stars - young couple coming to terms with adulthood
This story was actually not that bad. Yes the guy needed to grow up and was selfish at times. They fact that they were cousins was downplayed because I think that many young couples who are pregnant have these same fears and emotions. I did find several grammatical errors through out the book. This was my first read by Mia. I would read another by her
So if you can stand on family loving this book is definitely not for you. First cousin love, which was weird but I tried to look.past it. You can't help who you fall in love with. At the one hour to the end part until the end I wasn't too crazy about. A lot of arguing and I happiness and it didn't seem settled to me in the end even with the HEA. It was an ok read and had some steamy scenes.
3.5 Stars, Not my favorite story from this author. Don’t get me wrong it has the heat level that I enjoy and has the taboo factor that made for an interesting read. But I didn’t enjoy Sam’s character and Kay’s character went from a strong girl who had a great future to wanting to bang her cousin. I’m sure others will enjoy this read.
I found this book to be interesting,at first I didn't think I would enjoy reading about two first cousins falling in love and creating a tonight Mia Ford wrote it in a living and sweet way Th a you couldn't help but fall in love with the book and its characters.I enjoyed it.
I will admit the cousin thing is not for me. But I do read a variety of books. So I gave this one a go. The writing is great. And very well written. And if you can get pass them being cousins it’s actually a great book. Some parts made me cry. But I’m a sucker lol. Amazing love story.
Wow I saw this book and thought to myself could I read a book about cousins falling in love? Well all in all the storyline was flowing and chemistry between the cousins was hot . I enjoyed it.
this is definitely not what i was thinking. If you can get past that the 2 main characters are cousins, it is a super great read. you have romance and drama and a happy ending.
I did enjoy the general premise of the whole story line, the cousin thing did not bother me. The enormity of Sam’s immaturity was what did bother me. This could have been a complete nightmare in real life but that is why we read stories with happy endings.
A lot of grammatical and spelling issues but despite those issues it was a compelling read. I couldn't put it down. The characters had depth and believability.
I loved this book,it shows love can over come all.It had a fantastic story line with well rounded characters,it flowed beautifully from one situation to another.it's a brilliant book well done mia well done.
A good read for people who are in to the series recommended highly a enjoyable read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next of the series
The story of Sam & Kay to cousins that will have to fight their demons and families, assume responsabilities and confront adversity to keep their love strong .
Wow this book was so twisted in the taboo world it was enjoyable to read I loved it thought at some points he was going to cheat but he turned into a great guy
