The Woman of Thrana Hall are holding an all school reunion. Classmate Jessica Vogel, hated by most of her classmates is pushed down the steps of an old spooky tower. Newly rich private detective Milo Rathkey is pulled into the investigation. Is the murder tied to old school grudges, a fatal accident twelve years earlier, or did the victim's penchant for blackmail get her killed. Milo's brain keeps telling him something is not right, but he has to wait until the back of his brain talks to the front of his brain before he can solve the case.
I enjoy mysteries with a good twist to them. Simply loving this series. The main characters is very entertaining. Looking for to reading more on this series.
( Format : Audiobook ) "Banter, bidding and beer." When private eye Milo Rathkey had learned he was a beneficiary of the man on whose estate he grew up as a child, he expected some little keepsake, a book, perhaps. Instead, he found himself sharing Lake Song with the only son, fifty-fifty, and an instant millionaire. The two men liked each other, sharing the house and the benefits of a superb chef, amongst other things. But he still enjoyed being a special consultant to the police so, when a woman is found dead, possibly murdered, Milo's help was requested. There had been a high school reunion and the dead woman had been hated by everyone attending, accused by some of causing the death of a much loved young girl years before. Meanwhile, Sutherland, the other half of the inheritance, had unearthed a mystery from his father's childhood, and Milo had been persuaded to allow a wedding to take place in the beautiful grounds. Not to mention tennis ...
D.B.Elrogg has created a superb slice of life rather than a straightforward murder mystery, with well developed characters living full lives throughout. And great characters, too, quirky, great conversation and quips, and real life activities, hopes and pleasures, everything intertwined to weave a rich, warm tapestry thread through with mystery and crime confusion and humour. Superb. As, too, is the narration by Tom Lennon, whose pleasant tones follow the text, and voices the protagonists, with empathy and panache - never over played, just right. Together, author and narrator make this a book of sheer enjoyment so that it is hard to say goodbye. Another soon, please.
I enjoyed this book. It did seem a long story, with a lot of stuff that wasn't relevant but it all comes together in the end. There was a number of side projects that added to the fun and gave the characters another dimension, I especially liked the teasing and banter between the main characters and the one upmanship that leads to an interesting tennis match and bike ride. The mystery was good with a number of suspects and I was wrong with my guess as to who the killer was, always a good sign. Milo is a retired pi but he still consults for the police when needed. He retired when he came into an unexpected inheritance that made him a millionaire and gave him the run of Lake song. Sutherland is a workaholic and when he gets pushed out the door to take a much needed holiday by his secretary he had no idea he would be spending the week helping Milo investigate a murder. The pairs housekeeper is attending a school reunion that she isn't looking forward, mainly because a friend died and it was never cleared up if it was a murder. Then the suspect is found dead at the bottom of the stairs where the first death took place and everybody becomes a suspect because no body liked her and all had there own reason to kill her. Back at Lake song things are gearing up for a unexpected wedding, the granddaughter of a local mob boss needs a venue for her wedding at very short notice and Milo finds himself offering up Lake song, his house manger and cook. Will a mob boss let a little thing like a murder get in the way of the big day? Or the fact that he wasn't invited? With bike riding, magazine interviews, secret tunnels to investigate, and a tennis match can Milo figure out who killed Jessica. With alibi's changing and lies being told is it one of the guest from the reunion Or is there really a hit man in the area? The narrator was okay but I did find it hard sometimes to work out which character was talking, as there wasn't really much change in voices and there was a lot of characters.
In Fun Reunion! Meet, Greet, Murder by D.B. Elrogg, private investigator Milo Rathkey has had six months to settle into his new inheritance of $15 million from his mother’s former employer. He shares the inheritance with Sutherland McKnight, the son of the man who bequeathed the inheritance to Milo. Now the ladies who attended high school at Thrana Hall in Duluth, Minnesota, including Sutherland’s assistant Agnes Larsen, are having their class reunion. However, the reunion is darkened by the possible murder of Mollie during their sophomore year in what seems to have been a hazing incident when Mollie fell off the old creepy tower. However, everyone has suspected Jessica Vogel, a fellow classmate, of pushing Mollie to her death. When Jessica takes a dive from the same tower as Mollie did years later, this becomes a clear case of murder, but there are too many motives for killing Jessica to make the case simple for Milo and his police detective friend, Graham.

10++++++!!!! Ever since he moved to Lakesong, and Sutherland came into his life it's been very eventful. This time between a high school reunion, a wedding, a bicycle riding club, playing tennis and trying to find one of Sutherland's father missing childhood friend stuff keeps happening and the police and Milo have so many suspects to so much going on it starts to come down to two murders, that ends in one being solved. You read for the details, cause i lost alot of sleep reading this book. Can't wait to start the next one in this series. Love this author!!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!
The authors do an excellent job of reintroducing the characters with enough detail and reminders without being repetitive, which truly allows those characters to come to life. I appreciated that there were multiple happenings throughout the story, not just the murder itself, though the mystery did feel a bit overshadowed at times.
The characters are introduced and mentioned throughout the story in a way similar to that of a tv series - at first, the reader/viewer has to hang on tight a bit to remember the names and match them to the specific characters, but over time the different personalities start to develop and sustain the story.
For me personally, the final parts of the story did not leave me completely jaw-dropped like many murder mysteries can, but I did still like how Elrogg's books don't solve the murder so simply that the last few chapters become a bore. I finished this book and went directly to the next, so I'd say it had me hooked! Thanks to the authors for a nice weekend read.
Terrific book! A nasty woman is killed during a class reunion. There are several suspects who are friends and former classmates of an employee/friend of our hero, Milo Rathkey. Lots of fun misdirection, plus a wedding for a gangster's granddaughter, trail biking adventures, and a decades old mystery to solve. Do yourself a favor and read any Milo Rathkey mysteries you can find!
This is a great series ! There is a lot going on in this book. It's interesting and funny. Laughed out loud at the tennis scene. The characters are wonderful and I love The way they interact with each other. The mysteries, an old mystery and a new murder, keep you guessing. So glad I happened on the last book, which I suggest reading first to give you better background. Can't wait for the next book! I hope we have a lot more Milo and Sutherland stories to come.
I really like these authors. This is my second book and I find myself smiling the whole time I'm reading! So why four stars instead of five? I usually enjoy a little more suspense and I was able to figure out a few things ahead of time; however that will not keep me from reading more of their books. After all, smiling the whole time you are doing something doesn't happen that often. Please keep them coming!!
I really enjoy this series. I love Milo Rathkey with his snarky asides and humor. Sutherland is a great counterpoint to him. The murders/mysteries are complex enough to keep me guessing throughout the story. I like that there is always an old mystery or discovery along with the current murder to figure out. The author needs to write faster, so I can read the next book soon!
Once I found these books a few days ago, I have been listening to them via Audible back to back. I’m now on book 5. The characters are likable and the stories are interesting and unpredictable. I love to laugh and have found unexpected humor that has made me laugh out loud.
I’m so glad that I found this author and these books.
Once again, a host of suspects are near a murder victim.
I complain a lot about authors of a series going into detail about characters we've seen over and over. this is the second foray into the Milo Rathkey world and it's been awhile since I read the first one. it would not have been amiss to add a little about who these people are that we're supposed to remember from last time.

When you find a book that ticks all the boxes, starting book two can be a gamble. Well, book two was just as good if not better than book one. Again, we have a strong character driven plot involving revenge, or do we? Great dialogue and interesting plotting, this is a great fun read.
I loved this second mystery as much as the first! I particularly enjoyed the treasure hunt and the ensuing surprise discoveries. Fervently hoping for a third Milo-Sutherland adventure!
I could not put this book down! Once I started I just keep reading all the way through to the end. This book has everything, brilliant dialogue, interesting characters, play fast-paced story! I can't wait to read more stories by this author.
I really like these twisted mystery stories. Puzzle lovers enjoyment in a book! Definitely for the thinking individual. A good memory for details important.
Who the murderer of Jessica I was duh throughout until the person is actually revealed. As for where is Annie, I got that one nailed, but no hints if I’m right or not.
Fun banter, good mystery, great plotting, delicious red herrings, open ended endings, with justice but not always the law served, and its all delivered in a well-written, easy to read package. On to more of Milo.
Too many grammatical and spelling errors to tolerate; these authors especially need to learn how to use a hyp-hen (this is a demonstration of the MANY misuses in the book). Self-published? I’m guessing no one independently edited the book.
This was a FUN book to read! When the bad girl bully is murdered at a class reunion, the suspects are many. Yet as Milo and his roommate Sutherland sift through the clues and deal with life in general, they discover many things aren't what they appear to be.
I plan to read more about Milo's private investigations. This book was fun to read with a clever twist to a familiar plot.
