This was a good shot book. It was quite enjoyable and I am going to try to find the rest of the books in this series. I’m usually not one for the shorter books but this was an exception.
I was so looking forward to this book. Babies shifting sounded awesome but the only thing close was in the epilogue. Pregnancy discovered. Bad title for the book.
Just because a guy saves your life doesn’t mean you have to throw yourself at him.
No matter how good-looking a stranger is, never invite him into your home, ladies—and definitely don’t admit you’re alone.
Most of this book was slow-paced, but the ending was just bam—thrown right in your face.
It honestly felt like the author suddenly realized the book was wrapping up and decided to toss in a steamy scene, no matter how unlikely it felt. And the villain… gosh, even he admitted he was going to kill the FMC as his “last hurrah.” I guess even he knew the story was ending soon. Some of the plot points were just too convenient. Ugh.
In The Baby Shift: North Dakota Jack, a wolf shifter comes to a small town in North Dakota in search of his younger brother. His brother ran away from the clan in Alaska to find a group of evil shifters that were attacking human women. When Jack arrives in town he is directed to Ginger's bakery for breakfast sandwiches with the attraction being immediate.
In the plot you have two hero shifters, a really bad shifter, a love interest that is sweet and a happy ending; although The Baby Shift: North Dakota is short it is a satisfying shifter romance.
I mean it felt a bit more like a summary with dialogue than a story. There's very little in the way of character development. As far as what's on the page the characters know each other about as well as I know the clerk at the gas station I use, which means really not at all beyond vague chit chat when you're checking out, and then bam they're mating for life and having a baby. I'm sitting here thinking huh?
It was an okay read but a lot shorter then I originally thought. Took me less than an hour to read and I don’t read that fast. I feel the plot could have been expanded to be longer, more intricate, and honestly more interesting if only the author had taken the time to do so. It was just so compacted that I really didn’t feel like it was an actual story but more of a novel’s first draft outline.
Forget what anyone tells you: the holidays are hell. Bickering family members, rushed shopping and every woman stressing over setting the perfect holiday spread. Ginger knew this full well as she struggled to keep her cakes and pastries in stock. It was a good problem to have, but lately it seemed like all she had were problems. But just when you think you have life figured out, six feet of the right kind of problem walks in the door. Now there's a problem I'd like to tackle.... Wait, what's going on with his eyes? Jack is on the hunt. Not for an enemy, and not for the delicious moose he sometimes indulges in back home in Alaska. What's brought him to Gray Creek, ND is his idiot brother. Who travels across the country to get involved in something that doesn't concern him? His brother, Connor, that's who. But before he can grab Connor and drag him back to Alaska, he meets her, and she's something fierce.
Heather's Notes Surprisingly long synopsis for a short story. The summary pretty much tells you the entire story. It is a good one. Ginger and Jack click almost from the start and I enjoyed the story. I may look and see what the rest are about. Would be very nice if there is one for each state.
THE BABY SHIFT: NORTH DAKOTA is the first book in the Shifter Babies of America series. This is a series of stand-alone novellas.
Because it is a very short story, there is not a lot of world building to match the blurb given. Still, I enjoyed this sweet holiday themed novella that had a human protection vibe to it.
I loved Ginger’s immediate acceptance of the brothers and her sweetness. I loved the brothers’ protectiveness of each other and those around them.
Though we’ll only be visiting each state once, I hope the “idiot brother,” Connor, shows up in another state to find his mate! His heart is in the right place, now he needs to find the right state. Maybe she will be here in Florida.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
Title: THE BABY SHIFT: NORTH DAKOTA Series: Shifter Babies of America #1 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance, Short Story Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused Received from: Becca Fanning (as an ARC gifted copy)
Shifters, a mating bond, great chemistry, and even a bit of danger all wrapped up in a quick, engaging tale. This first in a series of short, shifter stories sets the bar pretty high for what's to come. It's easily read in one sitting, which is a good thing because the pacing and story keep the pages turning. It's impossible not to fall a bit for Jack with his charm, and I love feisty heroines so Ginger is perfect for this romance. She speaks her mind and takes no guff, but it's not overdone. The mating bond so prevalent in shifter stories is present, but it's not really the focus. Rather than it being the topic of every conversation, it's more implied, letting the terrific chemistry between Jack and Ginger grow into something almost tangible. We also have some danger to add to the excitement and further compliment an already entertaining read. All in all, a great start to a promising series.
Loved this short story shows how you find love even when you aren't looking for it. Ginger owner of her bakery gets a phone call for a large amount of breakfast sandwiches. Jack turns up for his breakfast sandwiches and meets Ginger he likes what he sees but he is here to find his brother he ends up a Gingers house to find the cottage he thinks his brother is Ginger not sure but as the boys are shifters he could get there through the woods. Ginger is in danger and Jack feels it he finds her at the cottage a rogue wolf shifter has her Jack shifts and deals with the rogue wolf. Later that evening he takes Ginger and makes her his mate Ginger has never wanted anyone as much as Jack.
Jack Wellington is looking for his brother in North Dakota because he took off from their clan in Alaska to hunt down a rival. On his journey he finds a young woman who runs a pastry shop named Ginger. He senses things with her but he is just there for one thing and one thing only, to bring his brother back to Alaska. Once he found his brother, Connor, he staid in town to help him take down the bad wolf of the area. He visited Ginger's shop everyday and in a way became a constant in her life. All this was happening around Thanksgiving timeframe. One day the rival came looking for them and Ginger was caught up in the mess. She seen what she had only imagined about and afterwards she got her man/wolf. This story is short but it's tolerable and predictable.
Title: The Baby Shift: North Dakota Author: Весса Fanning Format: ebook Genre: Romance, small town, shifter Standalone: yes Part of a Series: Shifter Babies of America Book 1 POV: Ginger, Jack Steam Level: slow burn to warm 4/5
What a fun little short story. I think I’ve read Becca Fanning before but I’m not sure. Ginger is a small town baker. Jack is a shifter - in town looking for his brother. A hint of mystery, humor and steam this short story was refreshing. It felt like a fully developed story but also a compact and quick read. Perfect story to cross another state off of my personal reading challenge to read a book set in all fifty states.
Fanning has done it again with this new series. There's action, adventure, drama, suspense, intrigue, humor, family, friends, romance, passion/lust and love. Phew! Small town that will have you turning in circles but no less riveting for doing so. Ginger doesn't want to become entangled with the new comer, and Jack is simply there to find his brother. The steam is coming from more than the kitchen. However, you need to read this great story to see what happens. This is the first book in the series, but according to the blurb, you can read as a standalone.
This is my voluntary review from one of my fav authors.
Jack Wellington came to the small town of Gray Creek North Dakota, looking for his younger brother. Connor left their pack in Alaska without warning and has been out of contact. Ginger owns a bakery, is single , with a cheating ex. Everyone on town knows and the old ladies are looking for a Mr Right for her. In walks Jack. Ginger has never met a shifter before and is strongly attracted to Jack. Then they become neighbors. Ginger gets caught up in Connor plan for taking down a bad shifter. Jack c!aims as mate. Fast paced, a little steamy, short Insta mate story with a nice epilogue to wrap up their story.
It had a lot of potential up until the climax of the story, then the climax was incredibly rushed all the way to the epilogue. Yes I know it's a short book and you should expect it to be short, and I do!! But it can be short without being rushed. I'd love love loooove to see this series redone to be a little longer, mostly because I expected there to be more than one page about the baby :( I kinda figured with the series and book title that there would actually be a good bit of book with the baby in it. But it was a good book please don't think it wasn't, like i said sooo much potential, just rushed.
I like that this takes place in North Dakota where I'm from and I feel it. It's closer to my heart. I like the character of Ginger who is the baker. The characters of Jack and his brother Connor, who are both wolf shifters. Jack followed his brother to Grey Creek to get revenge on another bad wolf shifter.
Drama of the story is fast-paced and interesting. This is a short story that the reader finishes quickly. This is an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.
The Baby Shift: North Dakota is a novella written by Becca Fanning. It is the first in the Shifter Babies of America series that will be released every Monday in 2019. It’s a great new series in which each book can be read in one sitting. Jack comes to the town of Gray Creek in search of his trouble making brother, Connor, instead he finds Ginger, the feisty town baker. The chemistry between them is hot and their attraction instant, but will Jack be able to save Ginger when the bad shifter comes a knocking? Read it and find out! I cant wait until next Monday!
Wolf shifters were not the norm in Gray Creek. Jack tracked his brother, Connor, from Alaska to the small town in North Dakota. In Gray Creek, Jack met Ginger, the owner of the bakery. They were attracted to each other, but trouble was brewing. A vicious shifter was attacking woman. Can Connor and Jack stop the attacks before someone is hurt?
This story is a quick read that features action, drama and suspense as well as some very sexy moments. Great for those times when you want to relax at lunchtime or before bed.
Ginger is the owner of a very busy bakery in Gray Creek and despite the town folks efforts to point her to the bachelors in town, she was to busy to give love a second chance. All that changes when the first shifters seen in town shows up asking for large amounts of food. Jack is looking for his younger brother, the last thing he expects is to get fixated with a feisty human. This is a cute short story with a good plot and heartwarming epilogue. Highly recommended
This is a nice short story. It’s perfect for a quick read when you just don’t want to dig into a big book right now. Ginger has a bakery in North Dakota and gets a call from a man with a gorgeous deep voice for a large number of breakfast sandwiches just for one person. The owner of the voice is Jack, a wolf shifter who is from Alaska and looking for his missing little brother. He is as gorgeous as his voice but the baker tries to ignore him because she has no time for men. Yeah, good luck with that.
The things that I enjoyed about this tale are firstly, the characters became lifelike quickly. The actual storyline is fast paced and a breeze to read through. The HEA is sweet and simple. All in all a great PNR that can be squeezed in during a lunch break. The title is slightly confusing in relation to the story but still a good read. All my reviews are always voluntarily written
This is a short, intriguing novella about a wolf shifter (Jack) who comes into a town (Grey Creek) searching for his brother (Conner) & meets his mate, the local baker who happens to be a human female (Ginger). I found the story-line and plot quite entertaining & well-written with interesting characters. There is: wolf shifters, a rogue shifter, drama, some humor, attractions, conflict, surprises & happiness.
The beginning started off strong and peaked my interest. All of the characters were engaging and the good ones, likeable. Sadly, the story abruptly ended. The "baby" was a blip in the story. The time invested in the holiday seasoned had no closure. I've read other stories by Ms. Fanning so I'm a little disappointed but I hope the next book will be more like her other stories.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and Ginger's breakfast biscuits are just what wolf shifter Jack needs. Little does he realize that he also needs Ginger. A short, quick novella story that is the likeable basis for this series. Mutual attraction is off the charts and no basis for shifters from the h. I liked this series intro. I was given an ARC through Instafreebie but I enjoyed this book so much that I did buy a copy 01/09/2019 on its release.
I enjoyed reading this book 📚, it short but sweet. Jack (a shifter) comes to town looking for his brother and meets Ginger the local baker. Their chemistry is great, and the storyline is wonderful. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
She is working and owning the local bakery He is searching for his hot-headed brother. They find each other and it doesn’t matter to her that he is a shifter. He does find his brother.
But there is some evil shifter in the neighbourhood getting some action in this story followed by some very hot action in the bedroom.
The first book in a new series of short stories this was a quick easy read that was packed with action and great chemistry between the characters. I love how feisty Ginger was, taking no gruff and speaking her mind. A great start to a promising series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
A great start to a new shifter series that has amazing characters with great chemistry. The storyline was well written and kept me interested and turning the pages. I definitely recommend reading this book because you will love Jack and Ginger together. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ginger was preparing for Christmas hiring two people to help when she meets her first shifter after he ordered a very large breakfast. Jack is looking for his brother who had left the pack without telling any body why. As he comes close to finding him he meets Ginger and is draw to her. Great short story with a few surprises.
