When half a dozen pages have folded corners (yes, I’m afraid I’m *that* person), you know it’s a good read. It’s a great book to dip in and out of, with lots of useful exercises for various situations. My favourite section was on how to communicate needs, with some great language tips on how to raise concerns without things escalating into an argument.

This book came along at just the right time for me. I have had some struggles with confidence for a while and this year started to get back on top of my stress and anxiety. I felt like the book was talking to me, about me. It has been so helpful and I will go back to it plenty of times I'm sure.

"If confidence is having faith in yourself, bravery, or being courageous is the ability to do something that frightens you. Being brave means having the willingness to try, to do your best and give things a go. It means acting even when it feels scary or uncomfortable."

Billed as 'seven simple steps to confidence' this follows on from the author's book, The Anxiety Solution. A clinical hypnotherapist and coach, Chloe's friendly approach is backed up by knowledge and experience.

The book is divided into seven parts: How to start change; how to listen to yourself; how to stop apologizing; how to fail better; how to heal; how to be heard; and how to find the real you. These seven parts are then split into bite-sized chapters, each with practical exercises and a handy bullet-point summary at the end. Further resources and references used follow. I found this accessible to dip in and and out of, read a chapter here and there around work, my kids and life in general!

As with Chloe's first book, I enjoy the friendly approach, which makes me feel like the book is written for 'someone like me', despite not all elements being areas I need to work on. Whilst I am generally confident in familiar areas, like most people I can probably benefit from tips on how to improve confidence in unfamiliar areas. I found sections on boundaries (I'm a people pleaser), encouraging getting out of your comfort zone (including a simple diagram) and taking healthy risks helpful. I also learnt from The Feelings Wheel, which is about identifying your emotions (I try to teach my children how to do this) and about putting myself first (I'm a 'fixer' who usually puts others first). A warm and assertive, practical handbook.

Really useful. So many things to take on board.
Think I enjoyed this and got more from this book than Chloe’s first book!

I know Chloe Brotheridge from her Calmer You Podcast, which I used to listen to while commuting or doing household chores during my university days. I also participated in a few of her free online seminars/Zoom calls and enjoyed her calm and positive presence as well as her tips on managing anxiety.

This vibe of hers is definitely reflected in this book - the way this book is written felt very authentic and relatable to me. Chloe shares a bunch of her own experiences as examples and I think many women with the same struggles feel seen. Overall this book felt not judgemental or lecturing like many other self-help books do. Instead, it has the vibe of "I know how you feel. I went through the same thing. It's okay. Maybe you can try out abc or xyz".

This book does a great job on picking up different situations, problems and thought patterns that many women go through/have and explaining how we can change our reactions or mindset regarding it, including multiple exercises in every chapter. Reading this was very thought provoking and inspiring!

More than "7 Steps" fill this BFF-toned improve-you tome. Each chapter offers relatable real-life challenges applicable for many people, more than the group labeled "girls." Author Chloe Brotheridge's exercises are practical suggestions to wrangle anxiety around relationships with self, friends, family, lovers, coworkers. Give yourself this gift of a book and share it with others. **Thanks to WILD WOMAN book box founder Donna Louise for gifting her subscribers by featuring BRAVE NEW GIRL.**

Almost needed one year to finish this book.
Actually it’s really helpful and nicely structured, but also a lot of work.

Years ago, I'd have eaten every single word of Chloe's book and rated this much higher. The rating, for me, doesn't reflect necessarily what I think of the book for EVERYONE else, but rather for myself. For me, I knew a lot of it's content, but that didn't mean it wasn't well researched or provided insight. jus that, after copious therapy, it best served for me as a reminder to believe in myself and a kind voice to nudge me back into believing in what I can accomplish.
For others, I think it's beneficial. At times, some of the essays are lacklustre and could have been further explored or delved into, but for the most part, they're insightful and interesting, put in a modern way where it feels less like preaching and more of a discussion. I found myself pausing, reflecting and absorbing a lot, and did come away from the book feeling a little less cracked than I went into it.

If you're struggling with your confidence this is definitely a good book to read. I love how research-based it is and after reading it, it gives you so many books to go into next and explore yourself further.
Chloe in this book doesn't give just basic info that you can find on wiki-how, it's not filled with cute but overall kinda pointless inspirational quotes. It makes you think and dig deeper into yourself. I like how it talks about all aspects of your life and how you can feel better and communicate with others.
The exercises are quite helpful but I've done only a few of them. I'm actually thinking about buying this book and chose my favourite exercises to come back to them when needed.

This is a brilliant book! I read Chloe’s first book, The Anxiety Solution, but rather than stopping to do the exercises I told myself I would come back to them, which of course I didn’t. I loved that book so I thought I would ask for this one for my birthday last year. This time, I did each exercise as it came up and although this meant the book took much longer to read, it was really (and I mean really) worth it. There were one or two exercises I didn’t feel able to do at all which was surprising but helpful in showing me what I need to look at most moving forward. I have already noticed a difference in myself and I’m looking forward to reading The Anxiety Solution again...and doing the exercises this time!! Thank you for such a thoughtfully written and useful book, Chloe.

A good little book to help encourage you to embrace who you truly are. Most topics I have already covered in therapy but it was a good reminder. A lot of the things covered referenced other authors tools and sayings which I think there could have been slightly less of to make it more original. Also there was one section about shy people having the “biggest ego” which I thought went against what she’d said in other chapters. I get what the author was trying to say but think it could have been said better for that section. Most other chapters I thought were written well.

No, I'm not a girl and I don't really know why this book is specifically aimed at women as the topics discussed are just as beneficial to men.

This book has plenty of information to address issues such as people pleasing, the power of saying no, setting healthy boundaries and much much more.

This book is essential for anyone's mental health and self esteem. And just as importantly, this advice will help repel any vile narcissist that tries to line you up as their next target.

A fantastic book. I'm channeling my inner Beyonce as we speak.

I've never related more to an author before in my life. So honest and open. A brilliant listen as an audiobook as you feel even more connected to the author who shares her vulnerable story in her voice. If you've ever felt different or too immature for this world or nervous and incapable when your peers seem to be winning at life, this is the book for you.

A great read! With activities and words of wisdom, I couldn't help but make countless post it notes on key thoughts. I really recommend this book to any young women lacking in that little bit of confidence in their life. This book turns negative self talk on it's head and has already helped me question my thinking and get myself out of my comfort zone.

It was interesting and many of it did make sense but having a mind that is continuous didn't help as I have meditated but found no affect but the details about speaking in front of others and building confidence in speaking and setting goals was good and going to keep it as there was a few quotes that caught my attention.

Covers a lot of topics and the chapters are easily digestible, but I felt like each was so short she never really got to grips with each subject, so it felt slightly superficial. A nice book to dip in and out of though, as each chapter is pretty readable and has some good tips.

I really enjoyed reading this book! Most of it was extremely relatable to me and had a lot of advice that I will most definitely take on board to help me tackle certain situations! I'd also love to read her other book, The Anxiety Solution as I think that may be relevant and helpful for me too!

Interesting book with some good parts and useful advice. However it doesn’t go into depth as much as I wanted it to. The chapters were short which meant I read it relatively quickly but I haven’t taken much from it.
