Her father may be back in her life but things are hardly smooth sailing for Rowan Gray.
He faked his death to get away from a group of people investigating psychic abilities – a group he is convinced is still out to get him – and he’s positive the group want his daughter for the same nefarious reasons.
Rowan is simply happy to have him in her life. She gets to spend time with him and her uncle and plot for a future they might never have.
All that’s thrown into turmoil when The Bounding Storm, the cruise ship where Rowan works, stumbles across a family that’s been lost at sea for weeks. Only some of them are on the rescue ship her boyfriend Quinn Davenport brings back, though. The rest are missing and lost.
What happened to the other family members? That’s the question on everybody’s lips as the media descends. The family at the center of the rescue is rich, essentially American royalty … and the horror of what they went through makes for a terrible tale.
The problem is … the story doesn’t hold water.
When a hand belonging to one of the deceased washes up on the beach, miles away from where the family went missing, things start to fall apart … and fast.
It’s up to Rowan and Quinn to discover the truth while working on their own investigation into a group of people that may well mean to do Rowan harm.
It makes for a busy – and dangerous – few days. All they have to do is survive to find the answers they seek.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. If I can cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Rowen Gray is a young woman who is a professional photographer on a cruise ship. She has a unique ability of seeing omens in her photographs sometimes. Death almonds almonds about danger and new ones every so often. on the way back from a cruise this time something happens that begins their adventure in this story. Read on and see what happens as the crew of the bounding storm along with Rowen and her boyfriend Quinn figure out the mystery of their new adventure. Always entertaining always twist interns. Check it out
Perilous Seas was fantastically unexpected. I loved it.
Another seriously good story from Lily Harper Hart.
Rowan and Quinn at their best even when fighting and fighting to keep each other safe.
I enjoyed Rowan having more time with her dad and uncle that added a new element to the series and I loved that this story was mainly off the ship which was different in a great way.
Oh My GOD! Generally like and enjoy the works of Lily Harper Hart, but this one really annoyed me.
I'm an older woman. I well aware of women's rights and the inequalities that still exists between the sexes, especially in term of career opportunities and equal pay. But the annoyance here came from the disparity of men's treatment of women, but especially from the woman's instance that they have an equal partnership and then proceeded to act like a spoiled child when she didn't get her way.
The heroes in the Harper Hart books tend to overprotect their women and the women resent this. On the whole, I do find this a bit annoying, but usually can live with it - usually because the women in question tend to impulsively take off half-cocked and wind up getting into trouble. In most cases, this is not a big deal, as some have exceptional powers, but not all do. In this instance, it was the heroine's insistence that her partner was unilaterally making decisions for her, when he was really just trying to keep her out of a potentially lethal event that was being held by a family suspected of colluding together to rid themselves of others in the family for their gain. (She is not a witch, though is psychic.)
This reason I object in this case is she just carries this dispute too far. First, she was not invited to the event. He was and she could go as his significant other. She insisted on going as she thought they could flush out the guilty parties. So he decides its to dangerous to go, for both of them (but yes, possibly more so for her) and she goes nuts because she can't go without him and his decision impinges on her "right" to go to this party as an independent woman.
It all works out in the end. These are not thrillers or true crime novels. I just think she took her dispute too far. She felt unfairly treated and she possible was; but, she only was happy when he totally gave in, WITHOUT her trying to fully understand his position and feelings, and got her way. That is not the full partnership she keeps spouting that they should have. If she reacts, without exploring why he is doing what he is and only is happy when she get her way - the IS NOT a partnership. I felt in this book, the heroine would only be happy if she always got her way. Again, that is not a partnership she was so vociferously espousing.
Quinn and Michael head straight to the rescue when a flare lights the sky.. what they find is a life raft with what remains of a very wealthy local family and two of their crew. They've been missing for a fortnight and the coastguard had called off the search so it's a miracle they've been found at all.
Sunburned, dehydrated and in need of immediate medical attention Quinn gets the 6 on board and into the medical centre for treatment. They're not up to talking having been without water so long but he's managed to work out that 3 are still missing. The patriarch, his daughter and her partner.
When Quinn and Rowan visit the following morning however there seems to be a generally strange behaviour, firstly they're accusing Quinn of imprisonment, then they're brushing off the deaths and appear alarmed at the possibility that the yacht could be recovered.
Curiosity killed the cat and Rowan, herself, could be in the exact same boat as the cat when she just can't let it go because a hasty snap of the dead man's wife and brother shows that pesky omen.
If they haven't got enough to work on dealing with tracing the mysterious Phoenix Society and trying to give her father his freedom back, while the pair won't stop until both cases are brought to justice they are going to have to accept a win on one and keep on digging.
The Bounding Storm is in it's way back to Florida after a week long cruise when Quinn and Rowan hear shouting coming from out at sea. It's night, dark and by the time the ship comes to a halt they have moved quite a distance, still, Quinn is determined to try so he takes two lifeboats.out to search the dark depths. Just about to give up Quinn finds a life raft with several members of a missing boating party on board. The Mannings have been missing since their boat was presumed sunk two weeks ago, the mother, Patrice, her son Ben along with his fiancee and her mother survived on the raft. Patrices husband and daughter and her partner are dead. But there's something not quite right about their story ( not that they're saying much) like how their raft came to be where it was. Quinn and Rowan would like to get to the bottom of the mystery but for once it's nothing to do with them. Their part in the story is over with the rescue------it is it.
Another great read. Interesting and sad mystery. More progression with Rowan's father and uncle. Minimal amount of boat activity or friends. They are docked so most takes place off ship. I blame Amanda once again for the seafood craving. Noticed a couple time discrepancies when today should have been yesterday and one where Quinn was called Nick all in the middle of chapter 15, but 3 mistakes in a full book when she is writing tons of stuff. And it is hardly noticed and completely forgivable and understood.
As always I recommend all her books under both her names (Lily Harper Hart identity) and this is no exception.
This was such a great storyline. The search for information on the Phoenix society us still underway, with slow headway. On the return trip to port, Rosen and Quinn are on deck when a flare goes up. They send out search vessels and find a family who had been stranded at sea. The story turns out to have several holes in it, the family is acting suspicious. Ro and Quinn wind up in grave danger. Rosen gets to see her dad, strengthening that relationship. Lots going on. Most of the action takes place while in port, instead of at sea like normal.
Another wonderful story in this series. Rowan and Quinn are magic together! All the snark, all the mystery, and all the love you could possibly want and a great story too! Their latest adventure has the searching for clues as to what really happened to the people the crew of the Bounding Storm rescued as the ended their last cruise. With danger surrounding them on multiple fronts, Rowan and Quinn have to think fast to solve this mystery!
I have been following this author for some time now, and she never disappoints! This latest installment of the Rowan Gray series is no exception! You get to continue to follow the main characters while they work to deal with Rowan’s past and solve a new mystery. The characters are always fun, there’s a bit of romance, a lot of snark, and a mystery that will keep you guessing. If you like cozy mysteries I highly recommend this author and this series!
Well.....this seems to be the best one in the series. Even though I dislike the cutie talk between Rowan and Quinn (constantly saying the same things over and over)the story was great. Very exciting...and I couldn’t put it down. I’m hoping the cutie talk will lesson in the rest of the books....but I don’t think it will. As long as the mystery’s are as good as this one I will keep reading them. Happy Reading :)
This was another winner. I love this Author as she writes wonderful paranormal mysteries. All of them have great characters that you would like to meet. She has written over 200 books and I have read over 70 of them. I highly recommend all her different series as they are all great. Once you start one of her books you cannot put it down. Diana Romano
This is another captivating book by Lily Harper Hart. She never disappoints. The twists and turns that Rowen and Quinn go through in this one keep you in full suspense to the end!! If you haven't read this series, please do, you will be hooked. I could not put it down!!!
This author never disappoints in any book or series. Rowan and Quinn get caught up in a bizarre rescue at sea and nothing makes sense of it. They can’t let it go of course, so they solve the crime like always and on land this time. It was fun, humorous and a good mystery.
I Love the characters in this series. But I must say the mystery in this book was fascinating. It really wasn't complex, I guessed the who done it fairly early after the mystery became apparent. But the characters involved in the mystery just kept me spell bound. It was inexplicable to me, but it still was how I felt.
This book in the series starts off quite literally with a bang and rarely lets up. When part of a wealthy family is plucked out of the ocean, it soon becomes apparent that something odd is going on. Then Rowan makes a gruesome discovery in the sand and things get even stranger. Don’t miss this exciting book!
I particularly enjoyed Perilous Seas. Like the character development. Rowan is feisty! Learned a bit about the Phoenix foundation tho not enough..the suspense is killing me. Cant wait to read the next book.
Perilous seas was another good mystery written by Lily Harper Hart. This time the action takes place on land and someone gets hurt. Not to worry though because the mystery is solved in the end.
The cruise ship picks up a life raft in ocean. Six people were rescued but three apparently went down with the ship. But is that true? Rowan spends time with her father and uncle.
Book 8 is all about a rescue at sea and the aftermath, plus Rowan being reunited with her uncle and father. There is humor, angst, arguments, finding a hand on the beach, mystery, and love. Highly entertaining.
Another great book by Lily Harper Hart! I love all her books and anticipate each new release. This book was no different kept me entertained throughout!
This might have been the best adventure yet. The love between Rowen and Quinn is special, and you really see more of the dynamics in this book. A great read.
Another terrific story in the series. Totally hooked on this author and her different series. Her characters and storylines are strong and interesting.
