Jane Bennet is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Growing up, she determines that it's up to her to take her family's future in her own hands.
Chapter 1 is a quick recap of how M/M Bennet married and their attitudes regarding each other. This explains why Mr. Bennet spends all his time in his book room and why Mrs. Bennet is so nervous. We then see her insidious plans to ensure her future security and that of her other daughters.
Jane, at fifteen-years-old, is very beautiful. Mrs. Bennet thinks nothing of placing the weight of their future security upon the shoulders of her firstborn child. She declared to any who will listen that Jane must marry a rich man in order to secure her and her other daughters in the event of Mr. Bennet’s death. Mrs. Bennet finagles a trip to London for Jane with her brother Gardiner and his new wife Madeleine. She is hoping for a bevy of interest for Jane when she comes out the following year.
Although this was labeled chapter 1, I assume this is be continued. [Last post-12-18-18]
