After I finished this book it took me a solid 2 days to finally try and put my words and mind together, to be able to articulate my thoughts that could do right by how incredibly stirring this book had been for me. I didn't have any idea how to write this review perhaps because I had never encountered such read or books that could hold a reader's attention just by its mere mention and simply by its title.
I had been equally excited among other instagrammers and readers who first heard about an idea of this book containing the honest and real experiences of those readers who've once lost their way, and found again with the help of a book. And written by those who've always cherished the sanctuary a book offers.
And if I had heard about this earlier, I'd have loved to share my own experience, too, to those who could relate to my own story and be amazed that how so many people living in different circumstances and places could still be so similar and all because of these books who connects us.
This book was built on real-life stories and a complete anthology of all those readers who could finally share and tell the whole world about the real magnitude of how books saved their lives and saves us everyday in our life too. It's a collection of 45 such life stories that spoke of the most painful, the disoriented part of someone's life and their journey in finding a true escape, from their past and pains. And at that time, the books arrive offering a saving grace and helping them get up and fight back against their odds. There are some stories filled with so much personal problems, facts a teenager goes through and finally it spoke of mental illness and about its true nature, honestly, there were a lot, and I mean so many of those stories I read in this book where I found a mirror to my own life, so many stories and people that I could relate to, and understand what they've gone through. And I think for me, that's what affected me the most. The stories written in this book were not just real,
they were honest and brutally so, and it's never easy for anyone or any writer to be so honest that you could probably even feel the agony they must have gone through while going through this process, to be able to express so much was just... it's truely, remarkable how this book has succeeded in its goal. This book inspired me to a great level, I still can't find words to describe my feelings but;

to simply put it,
this book was nothing, but magical.
Real and unbound magic;
that makes you want to shout and say
'Yes! I've been and still am saved by the pages,'
these books who has so much to offer to the world and
the beauty between those moments when one can finally find what they have been searching for in their whole life,
the sudden realization of what a book could possibly do,
is unfathomable and to the ones who has understood that fact are forever saved and protected by the safe assurance of the pages.

Because being a reader,
not many can understand,
but we do, we do.
Cause as a reader, we all have gone through this,
somehow different from one another;
but still the same.
This journey of life has become better; not easier, but still a lot more clearer.
And I thank the books and the words written between these pages that holds so much power to change anyone.

"....I don’t believe in fiction. I believe fiction is truth written out in riddles, and those wise enough to understand them are changed as they go on their journey...." - JDNetto

Honestly yaaaaaaas

I've been so excited about this anthology ever since I first heard of it and PARTICIPATED in it hellllllllo

I just finished this very volume of Saved by the Page, a collection of stories of readers reading collections of stories, how stories and books and pages saved their lives.

It was perfect in the sense that it wasn't a dense text and is definitely very easy to read. Some of the contributors in the anthology was terribly funny, I cracked up a few times. But that's what makes each of these stories unique. Some get personal, some try to include a joke or two, some make it poetic (people like me), but all of them proved their bravery and courage by sharing their own story, whether it gets to a very personal level.
I didn't expect myself to be so amused, bedazzled and glad after reading this book. It was honestly so interesting to see how books saved other people during their hardest times, how some of the contributors and I share the same inspiration gained from certain books, (Kathryn, I'm talking to you- Finding Audrey was my first as well) from Sophie Kinsella to Classic Literature to SARAH J. MAAS to Cassandra Clare, James Dashner as the list goes on and on.

Books give the power to people to stand up for themselves and to stand up for their lives. It gives them the courage to make each step on the path of life as it does when you turn a page to pave the path for the characters of the book. Pages and words tell a story of courage, overcoming, growth and whatever poetic term I can't think of but you can just (fill in the blanks) in which we can all relate to, and it is the contributors' words that tell the exact same type of story, without needing to go through the pain and joy of writing a good ol' excellent-quality book to share their happiness and sadness with us readers.

I honestly love this project, so please participate in it to possibly get your story told in the future upcoming volumes; get your story told and go read the story and tales of others. And just to quote the one I wrote because I am narcissistic after all:

To all the readers out there,

knowing that like a phoenix rising from the ashes,

we are all saved by the page.

This was a very quick read, and I feel like it is a novel that everyone should pick up and read. Saved by the Page really shows that yes this world is very big, scary and isolating...but what you are feeling, you are not alone.

Everyone has their own story. Everyone goes through their own ups and downs, however we are not alone. Someone, somewhere understands what you are going through, or has been there themselves. Reading is a great way to escape, and live a thousand lives. These stories just confirm that reading can be someones salvation.

I remember vividly as a child, my parents tucking me in and I would pretend to sleep; and I would close my bedroom door and then turn my lights back on and read. I remember my parents getting so 'mad' at me because it would be past my bedtime and my light would keep them up. My Grandfather was always reading to me and buying my books for my birthday, and Christmas as well.

These gifts are all I have left of my Grandfather since he passed away. I have the memories, the photographs and these novels that he always wrote a short message for me on the first page. They are truly some of my most prized possessions. When I find myself really missing him or needing his wisdom, I will pull one of those novels from my bookshelves..and read the messages that he has left for me. I can feel him so much more in those moments; and I know I am not alone.

I am also my fathers second daughter and the baby of my family. Prior to my being alive my father was never really a 'reader'. My father is a mechanic, and deals with life hands on. I am so different from my sister, and I really found reading at an extremely young age. I would have my dad tuck me in at night and as a twist, I would read to him. This helped him with spoken word, and reading as well. To this day my dad isn't that big of a reader, he can't sit still long enough. But he will indulge in a motorcycle magazine from time to time. He takes his time to read the entire thing, and I am so proud of him for being able to do this and because it is something he enjoys for himself.

Reading has sincerely and irrevocably changed my life. I can't picture my life without these worlds, these characters, and the feeling that reading leaves me with. I honestly can't express how much reading and the world of books has impacted me, and probably in so many ways that I won't even know. Reading has saved my life, and I will be forever grateful for the written word.

I was lucky enough to work on Saved by the Page and it was such a joy reading stories by those who love books just as much as I do. The writers in this anthology are extremely talented and have inspiring stories to share with the world. The brilliance of the concept is all owed to J.D. Netto and I love that he gave readers a chance to prove the importance of books goes beyond pure entertainment. Stories and characters serve as inspirations, distractions, coping mechanisms, friends. Reading is an isolated event but has the power to bring so many people together. I am so happy this book now exists to do the same work as all the books that came before it – to save people.

Having read previous reviews about the book before starting, I had, in fact, anticipated personal stories of various misfits who had been saved by the page. Even then, I was blown away by the sheer strength these readers possessed for having shared their struggles with the world. It takes a lot to pour yourself out in front of others, like they have. They might have experienced that moment of extreme vulnerability - the feeling of being exposed. But, I'm honored to have had the opportunity to get a glimpse at the hardships all these readers faced. Books have always given me support in crucial moments, whisked me away from the real world of despair and have been a pillar to lean on during difficult times. I am so glad to know that books have helped other readers too. I happened to connect with certain parts of various stories and it created an ache in my heart. I felt for them as they shared their grievances of the past. A few instances even made me explore parts of me of whose existence I hadn't known. I'm truly really thankful to all the readers who turned writers for this anthology and decided to bare a part of themselves to me. Books are not merely for entertainment. No, they have the ability to save lives.
Read the book to connect and to feel; beware, these stories are not to be pitied. They do not need your sympathies. No, they merely need your support and encouragement. Let yourself be the influence needed for many such readers to face their problems.

I was so excited when I got the email saying I had been chosen to review this book. My first thoughts when I heard what it was about was how excited I was to see how books have impacted the lives of other readers like me. Currently, I have been in a reading slump, but when I started this book I could not put it down. It was incredible to read about how books have saved and impacted so many individuals. Seeing the names of some of my favorite books and authors made me feel connected to people I don't even know. The structure of this book, with its short chapters written by fellow readers, makes it fly by. I hope anyone who has ever felt saved by the pages of books gets the chance to read this book and know that they are not alone. Reading this at a time in my life when I am very stressed and anxious about the world around me has reminded me that I am not alone in my emotions and I am not alone in knowing that books will always be there to help me through. This book is something that the world needed to help further connect readers to each other.

It's a book about how many people found solace in the pages of a book and how it saved their lives in countless ways.
I want to add a quote at the start, a touching and beautiful one but I can't just pick one. I would have to pick multiple quotes because every story has, not one but many amazing lines, so that puts me in a tight corner.

I'm so grateful to have gotten this review copy, I had my eyes on this the day I saw the cover and read what it was about on JD's Instagram. I don't know where to start, my brain fills up with so much that I can't keep track of my thoughts. My heart fills up with so much joy and warmth just with the thought of this book, I am not going to lie- I cried several times while reading this book. I had to stop reading after a few stories because they would make me so emotional and teary eyed, I couldn’t go on. Every story touched me, made me feel a connection to the author. Every story resonates with me because in the end the pages saved us all. What makes me so happy is that the whole book is so raw. I am truly proud of the people who shared their stories, because I admit I would be very scared but these stories have given me a voice. The first story really had me. I can’t forget that, ever because something similar happened to me and while it all felt wrong, I couldn’t prevent it because I thought everyone would be mad at me- I don’t know why but I still feel that. I guess I am ashamed of it but I’ve learnt to live with it because that part of my life is over now and I won’t let something like that happen all over again.

On the brighter note- when I was around eight or nine, I remember being drawn to books. One day my dad took out a huge trunk from the storeroom, it was filled by almost all of his childhood comic books (yes, he kept them all) I jumped in happiness at the sight of all those rare magazines and oldest comic books I could ever find. I took everything out one by one and read every single short story I could find in those old books, one at a time. I clearly remember how one time I left the stove on because I was so engrossed in those stories. I stopped reading after a while because the above happened and I was trapped in the grasp of technology but, here I am after few years, as a bookworm again.

Saved by the Page is the kind of book, that will make you laugh, cry and will fill your heart with immense pleasure that so many people found their home between the pages of a book and comfort in the words written on the pages. It will possibly turn you into a messy ball of tears because every story is so deep and real, it is full of the reality of life.

I don’t want to say much because the book speaks for itself so go preorder it! I promise you will be emotional and overwhelmed and will feel at home among the pages and the people sharing their stories.

I received a review copy of this book exactly when I needed it the most. I had just decided to take a mental health day as work wasn't happening for me. I just kept staring at one sentence of a tv show I was translating and could not for the life of me continue on.

So I picked up my phone and started reading. A recurring word/feeling I kept noticing in it was "hope". By no means have I any serious problems that made me take that day off, I was just stressed. But nonetheless, this book gave me hope. If those people who survived suicidal thoughts could continue on, so could I. So I was saved by the pages in this beautiful book.

I've always noticed how some people laugh at the ones who love, and I mean LOVE, young adult novels or any book which is thought not suitable for people after they turn a certain age. The Twilight Saga got me into reading again when I was about 16-17. Harry Potter has taught me countless of things that I shall cherish for as long as I live. And I've recently found out about the masterpieces that are Sarah J Maas' books. So I was very happy to see that I was not alone in appreciating those publications.

I am so grateful that this book exists. If you're feeling sad or are stuck in a reading slump and need motivation, pick this beauty up. It is so worth it.

Thank you to all the people who shared their stories. Know that you saved me the same way your beloved books saved you.

Saved by the Page is a masterpiece that will grab you with it's stories and then simply pull you in.

There are various short stories by different readers like all of us, which is what makes it so special. I didn't expect it but I was in tears at nearly every other story. And it wasn't just about the sad and emotional ones. I think it was the fact that these stories were written by people who are so passionate about books and who were literally and metaphorically saved by them, just like me.

Some of them are humorous, others simple with great advice and then my favourite- the ones that broke my heart and made me reach for my tissues. But no matter what their theme all the stories are raw and reach straight to your heart. This book only makes my love for reading grow(if that is even possible) and cling to them hard enough while smiling at the fact that these very books connect me to so many readers around the world, including the ones that wrote this book.

I am very grateful and extremely happy that this project exists, moreover I got a chance to review Saved By The Page and I just wish that every single person in the world could give it a read and understand the true value and meaning of books.

First of all the idea is brilliant. And I could really find myself in some of the stories. One problem for me was that many stories were kind of similar, so it felt like reading the same again and again, so it got a bit boring.

ARC REVIEW IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH/RESEÑA EDICIÓN ANTICIPADA EN INGLÉS Y ESPAÑOL

ENGLISH REVIEW
___________________________________________________________

“Each book was a person, the pages filled with accounts of their every triumph and turmoil—hidden secrets, dreams, untold desires. Every period carried a purpose, every comma a breath. I used to tell myself that someday, someone would pick up my life’s book, read it, and learn from it.”

What can I say? When I opted for the opportunity to read this book and make an honest review and be accepted my application, I didn't know the kind of stories I would find in this anthology, but it is definitely worth it every minute I spent reading them.

Have you ever felt alone or have anxiety, depression or something else you want to forget and never think about it? Well, you're not the only one, many of the people who are part of this project came to feel that way.

I felt identified with some of the feelings that some of the authors have about the books, those that had an impact on their lives and that meant a change of everything for them, the books somehow became the help to escape or face the problems, they became friends, different realities, the strength they needed, that air necessary to take a break and what they needed to be for help them.

It is a book that touches sensitive fibers, making you feel many emotions, you feel identified with the stories of "real" people who like many, suffer in one way or another and found their salvation in books.

I keep it this quote: "You're not alone."

I really appreciate the opportunity to read this heartbreaking and profound book that in my opinion many people should read.

I hope that in a brief future, it can be translated into Spanish, so that people who do not read in English can enjoy this wonderful book and maybe it is their saving book ...

RESEÑA EN ESPAÑOL
___________________________________________________________

Wow! What a masterpiece!
I always loved books cause as many people feel they take me to a whole new universe!
I was at Hogwarts with Harry Potter, i fought beside Gandalf in Minas Tirith, we walked through the streets of Paris with Robert Langdon!
But here i see amazing stories from people ordinary who were saved by their books but also from people who i follow them on Instagram.
This one was amazing and i cant think no better way to finish the first 5 books for 2019. And these stories are truly amazing and now i see my books with other way a gateway to new words and a way to help people with their daily problems. All we need is a good book!!!

ARC review. This book isn’t your typical story, it’s a multitude of real peoples stories as to how the written word saved them. It will make you cry, it will make you laugh and be angry, but it will also give you hope and inspiration. I want to thank JD Netto for putting this idea into action and giving everyday people this platform to share and support. Every person who has participated is a hero. This is one of those books that everyone needs to read at some point in their life.

From the introduction of this anthology by J.D Netto till the last story, I felt deeply captivated. At one point, I started feeling so surreal, it was like I went through each of the lives of every author who was telling his/her story. Because I could feel all their emotions while reading their personal stories. I found reflecting myself in each of those stories.

Reading about how books saved these people in so many different ways. These stories were so very personal to them, yet they had such a courage to share their stories with the world. Not only these beautiful readers + authors shared their stories with the world, but all readers out there express their stories about how books save them, in their own unique ways.

The world should know, about how books and story world saves a person from their doom and brings a kind of hope and light which you cannot get from anywhere but books. Books and stories are our salvation, they heal us from the most deepest heartbreakes, makes us strong when we feel the lowest and weakest, makes you believe in love and forgiveness, gives you the courage to live life and fight your own battles, brings you back from depression and restores your mental health.

From these stories and my own experience with reading so many different books, books become our best friends and they are a source of a deep connection with our fellow readers. We all have lived thousand lives, and we are reborn in another realm, face another life and battle.

Each book was a person, the pages filled with accounts of their every triumph and turmoil—hidden secrets, dreams, untold desires. Every period carried a purpose, every comma a breath. I used to tell myself that someday, someone would pick up my life’s book, read it, and learn from it. The more I ran toward the written word, the more I recognized the truth in my imaginings.

After reading this anthology, I gained the courage to share my own little story with you all. Living in a small country like Pakistan, being from a middle class family, I was still privileged to study in an English medium Christian school. So naturally, the habit of reading was instilled in me since I was a kid. Novels started in our english course from I think 3rd or 4th grade and I used to finish reading even before we were scheduled to finish.

I somehow made friends easily since I was a kid and I was mostly a happy go lucky girl and still am. Stories kept me sane, contended and my mind was filled with thousands of imaginary worlds and friends. I was an only child and loved my solitude. I used to borrow horror books from the library and enjoyed every one of them. Yeah! I was a horror freak and still am.

My teenage years were so rebelious, weird, full of all emotions and then I dealt with depression and self hate too in those years. Because so much happened with me and it took 4 to 5 years to work on myself and reinvent myself into a whole new me but still be the real me. Books played a very important role in those years. Because thats when i discovered different genres of books and craved for something new to read. I never comprehended that I would actually become a blogger. But becoming a blogger, was the best decision I made and I hope to become a poet and an author soon.

I had a big dream of travelling the world which I am trying to fulfil and I know I will conquer all my dreams.

So If you haven’t started reading yet, then I suggest you pick up a book this instant and dive into the magical world of stories. Believe me, your whole life will change. Books are the reason why i am filled with si much energy and unlimited hope and love that I want to keep spreading with my writing.

This book took my breath away. I practically bawled through the entire thing from the raw and beautiful stories written throughout. After I finished, I re-read it again and again and again because in each of these stories I found a piece of myself hidden inside. JD Netto is brilliant for creating this. He found a way to genuinely demonstrate the colossal power that books have on all of us, even if you don't realize it. Books have the power to change your life. To save it. And that is why this book deserves 5 stars. As your tears fall while reading the words on the page you can start to feel the author's tears being shed while they were writing them. This book is emotional and strong and every book lover out there will be able to relate to it. As they say "The pen is mightier than the sword." and this book is the perfect example of it.

Inspiring, heart warming, hope.
All of these words and more do not even give this book justice. 45 people sharing their journeys and stories with literature, their struggles and depressions. And they all say they were saved by the page. If that doesn’t give you chills, then I don’t know what will. It was a beautiful, slim collection of stories that I will cherish forever.

I have my story in here, and that’s still crazy to believe.

But the stories of so many others in this collection are amazing. You get to see so much of how people have grown and leaned on books throughout their life and see the incalculable value and importance stories have had on people. Grief, pain, loss, insecurity, so many things have been lessened in magnitude by books, as seen in this collection.

This read was raw, brilliant, and beautiful.

You get to see how books are more than just small things, taking up space on a shelf or more than the dreaded required reading in school. Books are friends, families, therapists, support systems.

Books are bigger than they seem.

Every person who contributed deserves great honor for being able to openly voice their struggles, put themselves out there, and share what it really means to be a reader.

Thank you all for sharing your stories.

A beautiful read. I’m not sure what I expected, but I didn’t expect to read chapter after chapter filled with such lovely heartfelt stories of book lovers and how they found them selves to be ‘saved by the page’ but I loved it. The concept of it so simple, pure, and all in all wonderful. A quick read that once over left me thinking about so many things and what a book can do to one.

This book was amazing. It's a quick read, but has so much emotion in it. Books have saved so many people including myself and reading other people's own personal stories shows you that you are not alone. I believe everyone should read this book.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved it! It’s a book for book lovers. Often those books seem to be snobbish and arrogant, but these little stories are so honest and down to earth that although I luckily never experienced any of the difficult themes tackled in some of these stories, I could relate. The stories proof that no matter what your background is you can feel the same love for the written word.
I liked the short chapters which made it easy for me to get back into the book if I had 30 or 5 minutes for reading.

“Saved by the pages” is bookstagram in book form, thus perfect.

This is amazing, to see all of these stories collected into one. Some heart breaking and all uplifting.
